What a wonderful destination for fishing, hiking, mountain biking and just plain old getting your nature on. The stunning mountain range, the West branch of Ausable River and the trails are all outstanding.

So many waterfalls. So many creeks. Beautiful trails. Lovely landscapes. This part of Adirondacks is so beautiful and I would love going every time. Drive on 73, 9N and 86 to experience it to fullest.

Bear den mountain is a pretty good day hike, it's about 1300 feet in elevation spread out on a 1.6 mile trail. It is a bit muddy in the spring so keep that in mind.

Great place to visit. Just check the weather up at the top of the mountain before hand. Plan to spend some time up there, and bring water. Take the hike, the views are worth it. If your a bit out of shape... Go outside and walk 2 miles or so before going so your lungs will be a bit in better shape for the higher elevation.
It's worth the explore.

It was a beautiful hike. The view is breathtaking throughout and the hike is an easy comfortable one. You'll see people of all ages enjoying the area. There are multiple trails and peaks to climb, there's a while lot to explore within this area. And once you make it to the top the view is well worth it.

Nice drive to the top, awesome views. Once you get to the top there's a trail that goes all the way to the summit and the weather station at the top. Kind of a challenging hike to the top but, take your time and enjoy the views because once you do reach the top it is well worth the effort. I hardly ever give a five star review but the views up on top are spectacular.

Absolutely beautiful place in the Adirondacks I stayed at moose pond. It had many camping spots for free but a lot of them are on top of tree roots which is slightly uncomfortable my only issue is you should pay attention to the time of year you go because the black flies will eat you alive other than that I absolutely love this place

Ampersand is a really great hike with a truly wonderful view at the top. It doesn't take too long but it can be a little steep at times and can really get you breathing hard at times. Be warned about bringing dogs because there are a couple of bits of the hike that are more like climbs that a dog would have trouble with. Would definitely bring a big group and a good sandwich for lunch for the top!

Even when it is freezing cold, foggy, and the cliuds cover most of the view, the nature and scenery is breathtaking and outstandingly beautiful. It is a beautiful break from the crowded and polluted city. The admission is very cheap.. it is clean everywhere and has benches for visitors to relax and admire the beautiful scenery.

Well maintained trail though the McKenzie Mountain trail was quite eroded towards the summit. Herd trail down the back of Haystack was also easy enough to follow without markers. Went in mid May so the spots on the trails that required crossing running water could be difficult and much of the trail doubled as a stream.

Off the beaten path, escape the madding crowds, unmarked trail

Steep climb to the top but the view was worth it, and being able to say that I climbed a mountain is priceless! Sure, it's the smallest of the Saranac 6, and it's not even 4000 ft, so it's not one of the high peaks, but it was a good starter mountain to see how I could do. Lesson learned, I need to start working more on elevation gain than distance. Mountain miles are a different animal than regular miles. Enjoyed being able to take my dog and she was having fun except for mommy slowing her down.
