Urban Modern Kitchen

What a great place to find interesting and tasty food! We were in the area for a Bears/Packers game and were looking for a unique place to eat. We ordered the Thai Bowl and the Dominican Tropical Bowl, along with the Potsticker (fried dumplings) appetizer. It was all VERY GOOD, along with stellar service. What a great gem in Appleton! We'll be back!

I have driven past UMK many, many times but tonight I decided to try it out for the first time. I was delighted to find it lives up to the hype. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was great and the food was addictingly delicious. I had the Asian Eggroll bowl as well as their chicken tortilla soup and the flavor was impeccable. I will 100% be going back or using them as my go-to pick up and take home restaurant.

Urban Modern Kitchen is a great place to stop for an excellent, freshly prepared meal. The menu skews a bit toward the healthy end of the spectrum. Maybe that's because of its close proximity to the Thedacare Regional Medical Center. Anyway, I'd recommend that you eat there instead of at the hospital. Definitely try the mini wedge salad for a side dish because it is a real sock knocker. (Meaning, it will knock them clean off...) Don't worry about the menu being only for the health conscious either. I still found a fairly decadent French dip to scarf down. The atmosphere is moody, the staff, however, is not. Our server went above and beyond. Will go back for sure...

Between the service, food, and atmosphere, it has been a pleasant experience every time I've eaten here!

This visit, I had the Spicy Italian sandwich with some modifications along with creamy broccoli soup, and the UMK trio as an appetizer. It was all amazing. I especially loved the garlic aioli on the sandwich.
The atmosphere is very welcoming, between the lighting, decor and the music being played; it's a great place to bring a date!
The service is always spectacular, the servers are knowledgeable and very attentive when it comes to customizations/ dietary concerns.

I love this little place. I went there with some girlfriends I have ordered lunch there and brought it to work and I went there with my husband. A really nice atmosphere the service has always been great and the food is so delicious and as I am eating low sugar the wait staff was very open to making my meal and my drinks the way that I need to have them. So very much appreciated! We will come here again for sure.

What a great place! Fresh, well made food and the staff and service is top notch. A good diverse selection of food including many sandwiches, salads and even Poke bowls. Food is up scale casual and served like it just came out of a photo shoot. Very clean inside with a great vibe. Will be back again.

Very good mix of food styles and dietary options, good service and a nice place. I had a bowl (the Cajun bowl with rice) and my guest had the tacos. Both were well portioned and taste great. It is on the pricier side, but it does not seem overpriced for what you’re getting. Looking forward to trying other dishes there.

This is my second time getting takeout from here and this menu is phenomenal! If I lived in town still I would be eating here daily. Excellent options, healthy & fresh ingredients, and just really satisfying.

Went for dinner on a Friday, had a great experience! The staff was friendly and accommodating, we were seated almost immediately during their busy time. We ordered the guacamole starter and it was very good, we could've eaten a plate full! Our main course was the soup of the day, along with their entree "bowls". They were delicious, we left full and with leftovers. The presentation was very nice, and the ingredients seemed fresh and on point. Highly recommend trying this place, we will be back!

First time visiting and we WILL go back. Had the Cubano Press with a wedge salad. SO good. I even ate blue cheese and loved it. 😆 The person with me had the taco bowl, no tortilla. Very friendly and wonderful staff. I only gave 4 stars for atmosphere cause it was a little loud for me, but by the time we left, they were packed, and everyone was enjoying themselves.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised with absolutely everything about Urban Modern Kitchen. The space is beautiful, moody and dark with white and gold accents yet well lit with timeless fixtures and elegant use of space. The meal was wonderful, we had the French dip and Cubano, both were savory and delicious. Service was excellent, the entire staff was so attentive, when we dripped a fork under the table the host immediately came from across the restaurant with new cutlery. Excellent attention to detail and highly recommended!

Came in today for lunch. Felt welcomed as soon as we entered. The staff was friendly, especially the hostess who also was our server.
The food tasted great and everything was fresh. The kids menu was surprising with the amount of food included, also the fact that the grapes were sliced and not whole showed the thoughtfulness behind the staff. Also the tiramisu we ordered was great. It was not soggy and seemed as if it was just made. Could taste everything, not just everything soaked in espresso.
Prices were great for what we received and wait time was not long.

We had dinner here on a Monday. We were greeted when we came in and seated shortly after. The gentleman that greeted us and sat us said they were busy and our server would be with us shortly but it might be a little bit. The expectation was set and we didn’t mind. When our server came he took our drink order and appetizer. We asked for a little more time to review the menu and select our mains. The food was really good and our server check up on us a few times during our meal even though they were busy.

I was dining alone and found this restaurant online. I took a seat at the bar and was immediately greeted. Excellent margarita and meal. I ordered the trio of tacos. Delicious. Great service, good crowd and ambiance. Highly recommend.

I just had my first of many lunches at Urban Modern Kitchen and I left very satisfied. The menu was varied enough that I will need to try multiple items. Check out their menu via their web site and you will likely discover something delicious. My party of 3 all ordered one of the bowl meals. I ordered the Texas Brisket Bowl (Rice, Avocado,Texas Brisket, Bacon, Pickled Onion, Green Onion, Tomato, Queso Fresco, with a raspberry-Chipotle BBQ sauce) for $14. I also ordered the soup of the day for $4. The soup was tasty but it could have been hotter as I always prefer to have hot soup that will cool down than a a warm soup. The meal filled my empty tanks though, to the point that I dared not order dessert. My bride and neighbor friend ordered different bowls and were comfortable as well.

I read on one review that the portion sizes were small and the drink menu was mostly beer and wine. I found neither to be true for me, but I suppose it is all relative to what one is accustomed to eating. While we did not order any beverages other than water, the drink menu had cocktails, beer (domestic and craft) as well as a decent selection of wines. Happy hour was 3pm-6pm but we were dining for lunch around noon.

The staff was friendly and professional. They primarily left us alone but checked on us an optimum amount of times. The decor was clean, cute, and charming. The view was not special unless you relish looking at parked cars but that is the typical view of most places with windows.

Our bill for two was $33. This was for two bowls costing $14 each and a $4 small cup of soup, which I enjoyed. Add a tip and a $40 lunch for two may seem high compared to Culver's or McDonald's but the food at Urban Modern Kitchen tasted so much better and was likely even healthier. If the price is too steep, try $2 tacos on Taco Tuesday - I will on my next Tuesday visit.

Very modern interior. Great design. Fast service. The drink menu is good. Great spot for contemporary food and big portions. Server Alan was awesome. Highly recommend the Bangkok bowl or bang bang shrimp tacos! 🥣

Bussin !! First time here and everything hit. Definitely coming back!! Had the tinga tacos for a starter , didn't take a photo but was gone within a minute . So good!!
We got the teriyaki salmon bowl and the Cubano sandwich.

Healthy fresh crisp veggies, flavourful entrees(Greek and Louisiana bowls!) And delish dessert...a must-dine in Appleton!

I really enjoyed the way it was decorated inside and the service I received. I got the lunch special and ordered an extra side of chips. I have never had a French dip with horseradish before so wasn’t sure what that would be like but it was great. I really enjoyed the way the bread was toasted. I think I would have preferred a thicker version of the tortilla soup more but it was still good. I would definitely come back for such a good deal!
