Lake Isabel, San Isabel National
Forest around 8.600 feet in
elevation. Just a short drive from
Pueblo, CO. Caught a lot of trout
on the north side of the lake just
west of the spillway.

Lots of water and rain, grass is belly high to a giraffe! Edges of lake are soggy and water is fast coming in and at outlet- please keep life jackets on the little ones. Afternoon rain torrents, bring warm and dry clothes. July 2021

Couldn't find my phone , otherwise the bathrooms were clean and an amazing lake to fish or hike or just to chill and have lunch.
But I will go back to take photo's breath taking views! The trails to hike around the lake.

Nice paved walk down to the shoreline where you got a good view of the lake. Fishing looked good based on what we observed being caught by others. The day use and camping areas are very nicely laid out

Very very cold. Lake was frozen. People were ice fishing and things. My Granddaughter and here boyfriend and their dog went and walked across the lake.

Large enough lot. Partial view of lake. Interpretive signs can be clearly read. Nice winding steps down to water level. Private pit toilets.

The shore line was crowded since it was Father's Day, but we caught limits in about 3 hours. Place is always well taken care of and clean.

Lots of feisty fish , easy to get to, beautiful scenery. Free park can be rare on busy days but one of the pay to park areas generally has a spot. $7 at top area to walk down to lake. Hard not to have a good time at the only lake made in Colorado just for recreation. Does not hold water for agricultural use. Just a nice place to get away. Enjoy and take your camera, fishing pole , small hand powered water craft. Or hike around the area.

Been up multiple times, usually in the summer. Fees to get in are reasonable, and the park people I have seen around are pleasant and willing to answer questions. The park itself is well-kept in the public and more frequently visited areas while remaining wildly wonderful on less-travelled areas. Definitely worth the visit as long as you are mindful of the season you visit in.

I just discovered this when I went to Bishop castle. A very beautiful little Lake. The North Shore has the signs that explained the history of the conservation corps building this reservoir. Very peaceful and I would highly recommend.
