Lake Isabel Picnic and Day Use Area (Southside)

Just east of the lake and south of the asphalt road is a very nice picnic area that runs for a half mile or possibly more. There are literally dozens of semi private picnic tables along the pretty little creek that feeds San Isabel lake. We had fun with the beautiful big blue birds that would get so close to us we ate our lunch. Great place for the family!

Great Hiking and picnic area, the views are beautiful and it wasn't to crowded. Definitely coming back here!!! The park rangers were very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful camping and day use area. Shaded tables. Lots of restrooms that are very clean. The trails are well maintained and there is a handicap trail too. Dogs allowed on leash. Lake offers fishing. Lots of little streams you can dip your toes into. The water is very cold. Great place to unwind with the family.

This lake and the area around it was beautiful. The picnic area was very nice and clean. Had a great time there. I'll be back when it warms up so we can use the swimming area.

Excellent destination for some outdoor activities and/or a picnic. Check out the creek water feeding the lake. Tranquil. Bring your kayak and do some paddling in the lake. Plenty of trash receptacles for your trash. Plenty of parking. If you can't find parking, the park is most likely too crowded. There is a $10 fee to use the park--definitely a value. Restrooms are available.

This entire place is beautiful! Recommend taking a walk here. The lake is beautiful!

A great place for a day trip to picnic fish or spend day on lake. Requires day pass or natl parks pass.

One of our family favorites for a quick getaway and picnic. Bring the fishing pole for a good catch. Multiple trailheads lead to amazing hikes and stunning views! The campgrounds are phenomenal! The lake is just big enough for a quick jaunt on a paleontologist or kayak. Serene!

We use this as a stopping point between Trinidad and the Colorado Rockies. It's a nice peaceful stop where we will often have a picnic. There is a $7 fee.

Such a beautiful, tranquil place. Been to Lake Isabel many times, but never to the picnic area!

Amazing creek. There must be a glacier upstream as it was ice cold and crystal clear. There is a nice walking path around the picnic spots. There is water at some. This area is for day use and you have to pay an entrance fee

First time to visit but it was worth the drive so beautiful and the river was gorgeous and all the camp sites were very nice. The lake was great definitely coming back to camp and enjoy the lake.

Their should be more places to park, but overall pretty and it has a lot of space to explore

I love this place. My girlfriend and I are so happy here, the fresh air, the walking trails, the clean campgrounds are always so delightful.

Went there to celebrate the life of a friend. He enjoyed family, motorcycling, cars, And the open road. Goodbye Hector and hello to a world we used to enjoy.

It's a stunning place to hang out, especially during the work week.

Always peaceful and serene. Love the colorado scenery at one of the little hidden gems of colorado. Great fishing too

Absolutley beautiful, clean. And well kept. Wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend.
