There is so much history and knowledge. It's a great place to stop to learn about the history of these beautiful mountains. Pick up your map and tour the area.

Excellent visitor center and trail. You need to go to the visitor center to get a pass to the trails, but it is well worth it. The trail is easy and well maintained. The visitor center has a little free museum which is great.

I’m glad we stopped in here. We were able to purchase some gifts and contribute to the Jemez community. The museum was amazing, especially the two statues at the entrance; they were absolutely stunning. I wish we would have been able to take pictures inside the museum, but I completely understand why it would be prohibited. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a stop in. And they have a Winter Bazaar going on 12/2-12/3 ☺

What this place lacks in size is more than compensated by its quality. The shop and cafe are good but it's gem is the small museum. The only negative is that no photos are allowed. The area outside is also very nice- great red rocks with picnic tables and a reconstructed field (for farmers to spend nights away from the pueblos).

Lovely visitor center, very clean, with a gift shop and small museum that includes VERY friendly staff and well-done exhibits on Jemez history and values. The trail hike through red rocks is exceptionally nice; it is not paved and some uneven areas wind around with mild elevation changes, but overall it is a trail that can be hiked by people of many ages (a wheelchair or stroller would be difficult on this trail). A trail pass is required and available at the visitor center...the fee is worth it but a little pricey. You'll enjoy stopping here...even the drive to get here is beautiful!

I liked it!
I'll have to check out the trail some time, but the visitor center was nice. I wish the museum extended past 2008 and the mugs available for sale weren't what I hoped for.
Bathroom was very clean, but the stall was out of order.

Friendly & welcoming staff, informative about the area. Did the RedRock Trail which was an easy short hike. Dogs allowed on leash.
I'd like to come back for one of the Feast Days.
The center is free, the hike is $5/person.

Stopped here and it has great selection of items to buy and a free museum that is informative. There is a hike across the street that is $3 per person. The hike is about 1.5 miles and so beautiful with the red rocks. It is a must-do.

Sadly didn’t have time to visit the museum but the coffee shop was amazing. Truly phenomenal piñon coffee and a beautiful conversation with the barista. Can’t wait to come back.

Wonderful place to stop in - very nice and helpful staff, great coffee bar and very nice local gifts. There is a museum in the visitor center as well. No options for a full meal, but snacks are available. They have a unique selection of jewelry and Pendleton blankets.

Decent restroom, great gift shop, and a coffee shop. Need to stop there if you are not very educated about the local culture. Great view from the parking lot. Across the street from the Red Rock trail head. Pick up your hiking permit at the welcome center.

This is a beautiful place. And you must try the walking path through the red rocks for $6 each. The personel are all smiles and very helpful. I had a separate problem concerning the workshop I was teaching across the road. After speaking to the person at the desk about the difficulty I was having, they went out of their way to help my group!

The museum is hidden in the welcome center but it is excellent to explain the history of the Hemish and the surrounding area. Friendly staff to answer your questions. Both inside and outside you can find gorgeous jewelry, pottery and other art, by the local artisians. I highly recommend crossing the street to the outdoor restaurants! An amazing place to get an Indian Taco!

A really cute place with some cool stuff. There's also a cute cafe called the Hummingbird Cafe where you can get your caffeine fix and a snack. Everyone was very friendly. I wish I had money to splurge because there was a gentleman outside selling his jewelry and he had some beautiful pieces. Next time we drive out there I definitely plan on having extra spending money in case I see that gentleman outside again and there is also coffee/tea mugs that are made by the Pueblo that are absolutely beautiful. 🤩

Great place to visit.
Beautiful scenery and the folks here are very helpful and nice.
The courtyard is peaceful and beautifully decorated....check out the hummingbirds that visit here.
The Jemez mountains are magical.

Magical istorical place! If you have time, make this detour and stop at the welcome center. You won't be sorry. There is a trail that is easy to track and a little bit over a mile long on the other side of the road. The red dirt and the scenery is truly something to behold. The visitor center will provide you with the map. Also, there is a museum that introduces the history of the region at the visitor center. There is a true to scale recreation of the living quarters, gardening habits, clay furnace for cooking outside the museum and the visitor center. And of course gift shop, which features local artists.

historic and poignant. This Visitors Center. museum and gift shop is a cultural gem in the middle of the colorful Jemez mountains. The friendly staff shared knowledgeable advice about scenic areas to photograph and where to get the tastiest fry bread.

Nice visitor center with bathrooms. A coffee shop and authentic gifts to purchase from different pueblos. Don't forget to cross the road and get an Indian fry bread or taco to complete your experience.
