Absolutely on of the best places in Ennis for a REALLY good dinner. Staff is amazing and the food is outstanding. We live here year round and love the option of such a wonderful place that's close to us to have a wonderful dinner with a great wine selection and a staff that goes above and beyond.. as far as the negative review goes, I'm sorry but kids locking themselves in the bathroom in a full restaurant and being loud and rambunctious is not considerate to other guests. If this was Jw Heist or Open Range they would have been asked to leave.
100% give this restaurant 5 stars!!!

This is Montana fine dining!

If you are seeking a steakhouse with great wine list this is a place to try. The new chef is really nice. He even helped us out with some breakfast essentials when he overheard us talking about our schedule the next morning. One of the best french onion soups I’ve ever had. Craftsmanship in the kitchen shows.

I love that they are open 7 days a week for dinner. So many other places screw around with seasonal hours so often it’s hard to know if you can get dinner.

Chef John and his wife Roxanne are absolutely incredible. From the appetizers to the main course and dessert - delicious - is an understatement! I found it very enjoyable that Chef does rounds with each table to check in on your experience.

In a region full of Californian “locals” and extreme Karen’s, the managers here are incredible!

Jan is also very friendly and loves kids at his restaurant.

If you are looking for family friendly incredible reasonably priced food, high end management, and heavily experienced ownership there is nowhere else in town that competes!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Continental Divide, a small restaurant located in the charming town of Ennis, Montana. The restaurant is situated next to a trailer park, but don't let that fool you - the food here is anything but ordinary.

The Continental Divide is known for its locally sourced ingredients and creative dishes. I started my meal with the elk carpaccio, which was thinly sliced and served with a creamy horseradish sauce. The elk was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the sauce perfectly complemented the meat.

For my main course, I had the grilled trout, which was cooked perfectly and served with a delicious lemon butter sauce. The trout was moist and flaky, and the sauce was light and flavorful.

I finished my meal with the coconut mousse cake, which was light and airy with a subtle coconut flavor. The cake was topped with a fresh raspberry coulis, which added a touch of sweetness.

The service at The Continental Divide was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure that we had everything we needed and that our meal was enjoyable.

Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at The Continental Divide. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was charming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Ennis, Montana.
Here are some additional details about my experience:

The restaurant is located at 47 Geyser St, Ennis, MT 59729.
They are open for dinner only, Wednesday through Sunday.
Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.
The price range is moderate to high.
The menu changes seasonally, but you can always expect to find locally sourced ingredients and creative dishes.
I hope this helps!

What a rare find, we rarely go out but when we do, its to find gems like this. What an absolute treat. The pork chop special was absolutely amazing, the duck was extremely tender but above all the service was top notch, our waitress, Debbie was awesome, and the chef came out and really made it feel like a special meal. Thank you so much for a one of a kind experience, folks go check out the CD if you’re in town!

We really enjoy having a such unique restaurant for a small town be so close to us! The service was unbeatable, and the care that goes into each dish is so wonderful. The chef (John) even came out before and after our dinner and chatted about the process of our dishes. The wine is a above and beyond what you would think for our small town.

The special this week 2/28/23 was the best dinner I’ve had since the Golden Horn years in Aspen, CO in the 1970’s. Very reminiscent of the Continental Divide restaurant in the eighties when Jay Bentley was the owner.
This guy is a chef extraordinaire. So happy to have him in our home town!!!

Incredible in any town, but very noteworthy in a town of this size. The chef is really great, wine list was too. We're foodies from top 5 metro and we were just super pleased. Try CD!

Quite the hidden gem. Menu varies based on available meat. Wife and I had Bison Hanger Steak. Head chef came out and talked to us about the various meat cuts he had. All is a la carte. An outstanding meal. Pricey, but worth every penny. Our server was really a delight. Highly recommend for a fine dining experience. Thanks 😊

After a beautiful day enjoying the Madison River and Cliff Lake we had an outstanding meal here! I would give the meal "10" stars if I could. White linens & attentive service. My son, daughter in law and friend were all pleased with each selection we made. The Elk (med rare) was melt in your mouth and paired perfectly with a side. A ton of flavor. The rest of us enjoyed scallops, beef steak and cioppino. Do not leave without ordering with the duck pate and lamb as starters. Great selection of wine to pair with all selections.
We all agreed we will go back!

Continental Divide is the finest restaurant we’ve eaten at. Being from LA, we wish we also had one at home. Prices were extremely low. The baggette butter was lavender and honey. So good. I don’t even like lavender, but the combination was amazing.
The scallops were the best I’ve ever had.My husband had the filet mignon. So tender and succulent you could cut it with a butter knife. ENJOY 🥂

When the CD opened last year we thought finally fine dining has returned to Ennis. We after the winter hiatus it is back with a new manager, Chef and staff. Wow what a difference. We really enjoyed it last year when it reopened under new ownership but it is even better this year. It truly has the feel of a well run establishment. The menu has evolved nicely and the quality of the food is unmatched in the area. The lamb chop lollipops were cooked to perfection and the scallops blew us away. The salads are all prepared with care and are tasty.
Don't miss the walleye! It is the best i have had since leaving the Midwest 10 years ago. The chicken thrilled my wife and all of their chophouse entrees are done to perfection. The Continental Divide is back for 2020 at a level that can't be beat!

6 of us dined last night at the Continental Divide in Ennis. What a treat to have a fine dining restaurant in this small town.
We had appetizers of thinly sliced perfectly spiced short ribs with a nice cabbage accompaniment.
The entrees were all cooked to perfection
The crispy skin duck was some of the best we ever had along with the wild rice side.
The steaks were all the best quality and cooked to perfection. The 20oz ribeye was tender and so flavorful. One of us had the large cowboy ribeye that was also top of the heap.
If you go be sure to get the lobster mac it is killer.
Chef Jason has hit his stride at the Continental Divide

OMG! The food is fantastic, I wanted to push it away when my tummy hit full, but I couldn't each bite was a flavorful delight. This is a must stop if you're in the area. We normally don't order desert, but our food was so good we had to try it, we were not disappointed.

Wonderful fine dining experience! Impeccable food, plating, service and attention to covid safety measures. From the Chilled Prawns with Peach Pico to the Wagyu Tenderloin Filet, everything was perfect! Wine pairings in Riedel stemware, shareable sides, dessert and instrumental background music rounded out a special evening. Don’t miss this GEM in Ennis, MT!

What a find! Fantastic fine dining in a small Montana town. Sophisticated urban fare rivaling anything I get in LA or Seattle, with a Rocky Mountain twist - I have enjoyed everything here from elk, bison, trout and duck to fresh shrimp, scallops, sea bass and even frogs legs! The chef's sauces and ability to work with unique proteins and local vegetables are unparalleled in the region. My favorite spot after a day on the Madison River.
