Ashoka Indian Cuisine

We recently enjoyed a good lunch at this small northern Indian restaurant that's reopened in Pleasanton. The Chicken Tikka Masala was a standout, delicious and easily our favorite dish of the meal. The Goat Biryani was flavorful, though some pieces of meat were a bit fatty. The Garlic Naan was exceptional - soft, fluffy, and just right. The Saag Paneer was okay, though the ginger pieces weren't to our liking.

The experience was made even better by the friendly lady owner. It's a nice addition to Pleasanton's dining scene, especially for those of us looking for authentic Indian flavors. We're eager to return and explore more of their menu.

Stopped in yesterday for take out. Food was freshly prepared in about 15 minutes and worth the short wait. The owner took our order and disappeared into the kitchen to prepare it, working hard. She was very friendly and we had a quick chat. Lots of dishes to choose from, we had dal (lentil) curry, with moderate spice and we enjoyed it. We also ordered a veggie fried rice, which was nicely prepared. Aloo Gobi (potatoes & cauliflower) was delicious. Prices are reasonable considering inflation, and competitive with other Indian restaurants in the area. Our family used to enjoy the buffet here, but with Covid concerns, it's no longer offered, which we understand.

This place has the BEST butter chicken I've ever had and I've tried pretty much every single Indian restaurant in the area and many more all over the state. You have to try it!

Small place with very good food. The service was fast and welcoming. If you are in the area stop by and grab some food.

Food is great! People there are extremely nice and they will make sure that you get the food which you want. I personally needed some curry to go with Biryani since I don’t prefer Raita. They provided me with curry instead of yogurt. Superb place :) must visit!

The owners are very friendly, kind and accommodating. They always remember me and make an effort to talk to me and catch up. Besides the owners the food is outstanding. It is really hard to find good Indian food and this place is the best I have ever had and I have tried a lot. I now live in Mountain House and still travel to Pleasanton to get food from here. They always make my food spicy as I request very very spicy. I only wish that they had more locations. Try this place yesterday!

The food is outstanding . Their Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken is one of the best I have eaten in the Bay Area. Their service is so warm and kind, even a pick up experience is so graciously handled and serviced. A MUST TRY!!

This place is fantastic. It is our go-to restaurant for Indian cuisine for several reasons:
1. It's reasonably priced.
2. It's family-run.
3. Not only is it family run, but they take a lot of pride in their food and service.
4. If they make an error and you reach out they'll fix it quickly and without issue.
5. The food is great!

This is my first visit to Ashoka Indian Cuisine but it will definitely not be my last. Ashoka had mostly very good reviews so I wanted to give it a try. I am glad I did. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were good. When I picked up my food, after ordering online, I was greeted by a friendly and nice man. I felt like a valued customer. My food was ready when I arrived. When I got home, the food was hot and flavorful. My entire family enjoyed the delicious Indian food. I will be back again soon.

Had a fantastic extra spicy (by request) goat dum biriyani for takeout (which ended up turning into multiple meals, so generous was the portion) when visiting from out of town: while that is my only experience with Ashoka, it was spectacular enough in my estimation to merit a five-star review.

This little family owned gem is by far the best Indian cuisine in the Tri Valley area - and I've tried many. There is a great variety of flavorful dishes on the menu and I love the vegetarian options, too. You can request the level of spice you prefer and every dish I have tried has had delicious flavor. The food is always served with a smile and the portions are excellent. Treat yourself to an amzing meal and support a local family while you are at it!

A mom-and-pop type of family run restaurant with decent food. Best Indian food place in this neighborhood, you would definitely have to travel some distance to find other decent Indian food options. I would recommend this place for lunch/dinner if you work or live in this area.

Absolutely love the food, been coming here every week for a while, the atmosphere is very calm and the staff is always accommodating.

Family-owned local business with a flavor profile unique to itself, I love that this is close to me so I can savor them for many more visits to come.

My personal recommendation: Garlic Naan + Basmati Rice and any combination is a great choice.

This is thee best Indian Cuisine in the Tri Valley as far as I'm concerned. Butter chicken is out of this world. Fish pakora is awesome. Try the chicken vindaloo, it is always a hit, one of my faves. Food is always fresh, the people are super nice. Whether you eat it there or take it to go. This is always my go-to for Indian food.

Absolutely delicious! This is what we ordered:
- Garlic Naan: Soft and crispy.
- Rogan Josh: Tender. Ordered medium, just right spice level.
- Saag Paneer: Creamy and flavourful.
- Tandoori Chicken: Juicy & tender. Nicely charred. Ordered mild and full of flavor.
- Goat Biryani: Very good. Rice was fluffy, good pieces of meat.
- Chai: Made from scratch. Arrives piping hot.
- Mango Lassi: Generous serving for the price.

Overall, good value for money. Friendly service. Will definitely come back again.

This restaurant is great. On all aspects whether it may be customer service, sanitation, or food. Kai was our server and he was a delight. Would definitely come back.

Food tasted fresh and authentic. We tried Dal Makhni and Shahi Paneer with garlic naan. Wait time was acceptable for dine in order. We did a follow up visit and repeated our order. Taste was quite consistent.
