Westmoreland County's online payment portal is one of the most confusing, outdated payment systems I've ever seen. It takes you to a third party website for payment. The system DOESN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH YOU OWE. So you better hope you type in the amount correctly. And good luck using the bill they send you in the mail, because I did and I still ended up underpaying them by $1.78 because the amount listed isn't correct (and it never was my whole time living in Westmoreland). So I paid the $1.78 online (plus a few dollars more as a "processing fee"). I thought the bill was square, but then suddenly I had a freeze put on my DMV account. I called the treasurer's office and was informed I still owed them 3¢! The only reason I gave three stars instead of one is because the kind woman I spoke to on the phone informed me she was just going to get it knocked off and not to worry.

I haven't lived in Westmoreland county for a year now and I have paid them no less than three times trying to get the amount right.

Treasurer's office: Please update your online payment portal! I live in Richmond now and their website neatly lays out what bills you owe, how much you owe on them, and when they are due. Please do the same! I can't keep getting screwed over for pocket changed I owe on my '03 Mitsubishi!

This office is one of most unpleasant and unprofessional municipal offices I have ever dealt with. They send bills with no explanation, don't respond to emails, and then slap ridiculous fees on you for non-payment. They sent my husband's employer a notice of a lien (seriously?) for a $3 underpayment of our taxes (to which they added $25 in penalties and fees).

I sent them a package that I had carefully prepared with copies of everything and a nice letter requesting an explanation of the problem. I got my entire package returned to me with a note in red pen on the first page. No letter, no signature, no courtesy at all. If these people are elected they should be voted out.

Not very understanding or helpful. I was late paying and contacted the county and was quoted inappropriate amount owed as they forgot to include late fees and penalties. So I got slapped with a ton more fees and penalties. I was never sent an additional bill either to let me know that it was an insufficient amount. Not sure why I bothered to call in the first place to try to prevent any of this from happening. Absolutely no consideration or effort was made by Sue to help out with this. Claimed she could not waive, yet it clearly states in VA law 23VAC10-500-570 that she does have the ability to do so. Thanks Sue for your compassion and understanding during these difficult times!
