Very nice museum, and - incredible docent. Tom was our docent, and he loves the history. While we planned to a quick stop, we ended up staying for a complete tour of the carriage part of the museum. Learned so much!

Excellent museum. Must see. Great collection of old gold mining equipment and old carriages. Tim at the carriage house is so knowledgeable. Got to know where dashboard, left hand drive, teamsters, car and other terms came from.

As many times as we have visited gold country, this is the first time we ever visited the museum and three acres of history! I highly recommend spending at least an hour or two, probably longer if you have the time.

Really a interesting mix of history, including mining, agriculture, transportation, and daily living. Well worth the admission price, and a great way to spend a couple hours gaining an understanding of life as it evolved in this amazing area of ups and downs through the years!

We had a lovely afternoon with our 3 boys at this museum! They really enjoyed doing the scavenger hunt and kept then engaged for a long time. They loved the surprise for having completed it. Every worker was knowledgeable and helpful!

Excellent range of exhibits. Price reduced because a building was closed due to excessive heat. Suggest an early visit when it was quiet. Helpful guidance from volunteers.

I visited the museum today with my family and we all had a great time. If you are ever in the area, it’s well worth your time to visit. There are lots of local historical items related to mining, transportation, Mark Twain, and of course the frog jump. An added bonus for us was the knowledgeable and friendly volunteer docents in the carriage house and pole barn. We learned so much from both of them. I only wish I’d gotten their names…. Thanks guys, you made our visit awesome!

Great historic museum that reflects on local California history. Very impressed with the collection and history preserved. I was very fortunate to hook up with John (?) who had in depth knowledge that brought the museum to life. Can't wait to see the Murphy items added publicly.

This is more than a museum and you should plan to spend at least an hour here. It is a vast and well organized collection of artifacts and documentation that can help to show what life was like in the gold rush days. It will show you more than you can learn just by visiting the Columbia historic park. If you want to get a more in depth picture of what life was like back then.... you must visit this place!

The Angels Camp Museum and Calaveras County Visitor Center is a must see destination while visiting California’s gold country. This is an exception museum with historic collections from the regions early gold mining legacy. You can walk through all the disbursed display’s within an hour, however there is so much to see and experience you could spend more than half a day to truly absorb all that is here. The connection to Mark Twain is well explained and brings his time here to life. The wagons, stamp mills, and gold mining artifacts are extensive. Plan extra time to really enjoy this facility. You will be glad you did. It is time well spent to discover the fascinating California history in this beautiful setting.

This museum is really worth a visit. Had a great tour by Tim, who explained all the carriages and their stories and knew interesting trivia to all of them. Really nice staff in general and cool things to explore.

Super fun museum filled with amazing information about the town and Mark Twain. I really loved the museum, even the free portion (we didn't have time to see the whole stagecoach part).
