The
Law library in Madera California is very unique in several different ways.
I have frequented this Library many times through the 14 years that I have recided in The City of Madera in the county of Madera.
Funny how it is a Spanish translated word defined as Wood.
Pernounced Mad Era.
The law library is cleverly hidden in an all that has a sign that says do not enter .
There is no parking near the library except to certain unknown entities.
The entrance door is looked to outsiders at all times somebody inside must open the door to allow you in.
From the outside it appears to be a maintenance storage room and once you enter you will find the bathroom inaccessible due to the district attorney's office is one of the three doors to the law library they have convienantly used the public restroom to store records which forbids patrons to access the facilities do to sensitive file storage policies.
The Library is very small and if you are doing any real legal research with say a laptop a few reference books and taking notes you would have a difficult time if there is anybody else doing the same do to the space limitation.
They do have internet access and some really great on line links however the security camera on the roof behind you the points right Okay the screen l, well lets just skip the work product privacy thing.
The library hours are very limited from 10 am to when ever the librarian decides to close the door and the days open are sporactic through out the week.
I would recommend you to invest in your own printer and black ink especially for last minute changes or printouts as they are not open before the 8:30 or 9:30 common calender times of the court and usually are closed in most times when I needed to amend a motion or print out an order.
I don't believe that most people in Madera even know about the law library and it really unsettled my ideas about equal access to the law.
Not as much as my experience in court did over that same 14 year period though.
My last gist to the library was about 3 months ago where upon the attendant opened the door to inform me that the computer was off line that she was preparing to leave.
I suggested perhaps I could volunteer my time at the library and inquired as to I may contact about volunteering.
My suggestion was quickly met with the following response, " oh no they don't want nothing to do with you.." As the attendant shut the door with the final word informing me that she did not know when the libtary computer would be back on line.
I give the Madera Law Library a bit 5star rating for government waste and abuse and if the receive any state or federal funding you I would suggest that somebody audit the trustee accounts for distribution of any grants or FUNDINGS paid to support such library. The above statements are true and I believe them all to be nothing but the truth and are the freely expressed opinion of the publisher you are free to quote use or reference my opinion under public domain I need not take any copy right or credit to the performance of this law library as they are free to amend or change their policy at any giving time with no notice to the public noted as observed by the author of this freely expressed opinion. Very rude, required me to sign in just to ask information about services. I refused and was asked to leave.
