Brigadoon Books Toad Hall Book

This place is a rare find!! The best of the best in literature is all you will find at Toad Hall. The owners are careful curators of their store; leaving this book girl in awe of their selection. I found a pristine copy of Miss Masham’s Repose by T. H. White and an excellent copy of Parnassus on Wheels. Having just went to the book town, Hay on Wye in Wales, we were impressed to see that King Richard of Hay on Wye had visited the store. My husband being retired Navy, greatly appreciated their sign on the front of the store defending the American flag; I was impressed by the owner’s vast knowledge of truly great books.

Hours are currently approximately 8-3/ 7days a week depending on their doctor appointments.

They'll be closed during the Victorian Christmas events.

A lovely book shop with lovely people. Their book store name was inspired by the book The Wind in the Willows and they have toads scattered around in the shop. 📚

Sweet gal at the counter, fun eclectic things everywhere... books seemed a little pricey but they had some really unique finds in good condition.

A wonderful secondhand bookstore. Small space crammed with books, but all the better! Specializes in Scotland.

Loads of treasures in here! Looking forward to returning to mine this spot a little deeper.

So many great books!

Not only is the selection extremely limited, the books are also very low quality, and the store is completely disorganized. The owner (or who I assume is the owner) is extremely rude.

And if you need another reason to spend your money elsewhere, this place is discriminatory against gay people. It would have been enough to keep their views private, but they went out of their way to put up ridiculous signs which basically say that they believe that being gay is the antithesis of being American.

Disgusting place.

Signs in the window made it abundantly clear I'm not welcome in this shop. I've gotten along with folks of all types in Nevada City, it's a very kind and open hearted place in general. Not here.

Has a disgusting anti-LGBT rant posted in their window, calling Pride month shameful. The owners are contributing to hate. Not at all welcoming and paints the whole city as intolerant.
