George Necula Design and Repair

George was awesome and very helpful. He was honest with me about my design ideas when it would negatively affect the stability of the stone and the ring came out exactly as I imagined! I love the simplicity of it and will for sure go back to him for any future jewelry needs.

I’m so glad I found George to fix and create our wedding rings. For my original white gold band, I wanted it reshaped, and he was able to do that perfectly for a good deal. He also resized a thin silver ring for me as well. For my fiancé’s ring, we decided to have George create a custom simple gold band from scratch. Although we are not people who have ever been to a jeweler, George is skillful, very fair, clear, and a great person to talk to. He has many returning clients, and I see why! A very trustworthy man with excellent jeweler skills, anyone would be extremely proud to have his work!

I had been looking for a ring to propose to my partner for a very long time. I couldn't find anything that seemed right so I decided to design one. I got all the designs mocked up, spoke to a friend who made jewelry (not George!) who said no problem and they starting making it.

When it arrived... it was not right. The band around the main diamond was too thick which made the ring look chunky. (Still lovely, but not what I had had in mind).

From the start, I was aiming for something delicate and petite. I was really upset, as I just couldn't imagine proposing with the ring as it was, but it was so important to me that the ring had been made by a friend. I didn't know what to do!

I spoke to other Jewelers who quoted me crazy prices, talking about scrapping the ring and starting again.

Then I found George on yelp and went to see him.

He chatted with me about what we could do. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable but he spoke to me as an artist, understanding the emotions involved in such a piece. He quoted me an excellent price and set to work.

He worked with the ring the other Jeweler had made so we didn't have to start from scratch. and I could keep the sentimental value as my friend still made the band and set the diamonds. George was fixing the design.

When I picked it up (it took him one day!!!) as soon as I saw his work I burst into tears. It was like he had seen the design in my mind and painted it with gold. It was so beautiful. It was finally right, after all the worry, and stress! George had done everything I ever could have wanted.

The next week, I took my partner on an adventure, a scavenger hunt, ending at sunset, on a little bridge where I set up some fairy lights and music, and told her the things I had always wanted to say, with a ring I was so happy to give her. She thought the ring was absolutely beautiful! She shared with me that she had never seen a ring she had liked either, but this one, this one that was only for her, she loved! We both cried, and smiled and hugged.

This happiness is because of George, his professionalism, his artistry, and his heart.

George even gave me a beautiful box for the ring which was perfect! I cannot express how lovely and talented this man is.

George was able to do the impossible with our wedding rings! He meticulously replaced every diamond and resized our rings so that they came up like the first day we got them. If you're looking for a true expert for your jewellery that you can trust, George is your guy.

Mr. Necula was absolutely wonderful! His expertise and attention to detail were flawless. I had two sets of these pearl earrings that had belonged to my husband’s aunt, which needed to be designed for pierced ears. I brought these to Mr. Necula less than a week before Christmas so that I could give one pair as a gift for my daughter, and one for myself. I was so excited that he was not only able to finish on time, but design and execute it so beautifully as well!

George melted some of my mother’s gold to make custom wedding rings for my adult sons, one brushed white gold and one yellow gold. It was a very sentimental project and I am beyond happy with the outcome. His old school custom craftsmanship is impressive. George is an amazing jeweler! I brought in my wedding ring that had a prong sheared off (thankful I didn't lose the diamond) and it was missing 2 little diamonds that had fallen out of the eternity band. It had not been serviced for quite a few years and was very scuffed. He worked his magic and made it look like a brand new shiny ring with all new rebuilt prongs. I found him through internet reviews. They are absolutely correct. He is a genuine and honest person who does amazing work!

Recently, has restored, resized, and replaced a missing diamond on my grandmothers gold rings all within a quick turnaround time and reasonable pricing. I was very pleased with Mr. Necula’s detail-oriented , efficient and knowledgeable work. He was very friendly and I am glad that I decided to bring my watch to his custom and repair shop.

I spend a lot of time trying to find those unique people and businesses who truly are the best in the area. I’ve been meaning to have my grandmother’s wedding ring restored for years, and when I finally decided to take care of it last month I wanted to make sure it would be done right. I read multiple reviews online and researched several recommendations from friends and family before bringing the ring to George. He is a lovely man and takes such pride in his work. He had me look in the microscope to show me all the intricate metal work on my grandmother’s ring that was unique to the time period and region of Italy where it was made. There was some damage to the ring from shoddy work that had been done in the past, and George seemed almost personally saddened by this, like a museum curator seeing the destruction of an artifact. He made very clear recommendations and I found him to be extremely trustworthy and genuine. When I returned to pick up the ring today, it was more beautiful than I could have imagined. He reinforced every prong, rotated the center diamond to hide a chip, polished a lower-quality diamond in one of the surrounding leaves to such perfection that it now gleams white with the others, and smoothed and strengthened the band. It’s just gorgeous and as he said, it will now last for years to come. After I sent her photos, my mom made an appointment today to have her wedding ring restored!

I took my fiancé's and my rings to George before our wedding to have them polished up. My ring is pretty delicate and not the easiest to polish, but George gave me a great price and had them done as promised 2 days later. When I saw my engagement ring, I really could not believe how bright and sparkly it looked. It looks like a totally new ring. George does great work and I will be back!

I found George because a hinge on my vintage 14k gold bangle broke while I was staying in Balboa Island. Located nearby, he agreed to see me on short notice. George took a look at the piece and made many astute observations - including the quality and age of the piece, and when I asked if I should buff out the leaf design to a matte gold he said I should not do so, because the carving was handmade and could no longer be found. I found George to be extremely technicall. He used to work at Black Starr Frost but also does the repair work for many of the high end jewelers in the area. You can tell he knows his stuff, hands down.
George was very fair and timely in repairing the hinge. I found him to be an absolute delight. He is a treasure in Newport Beach. Thanks George!

George Necula was a delight to work with from start to finish. I had a very large heavy stone I wanted to wear as a pendant. He invested much time and thought into working with me to design the perfect custom bell cap in white and yellow gold for the stone. I felt he maximized the beauty of the stone with his design. No detail was too small for his consideration. He even had me bring the chains I would be using to make sure they would work perfectly with the bell cap. He also told me how to care for the stone and bell cap going forward. I would not hesitate to use him in the future for any jewelry design or repair needs. He has my highest recommendation.

I brought a vintage ring to George that my father brought back from WWII that has been worn by 3 generations in my family. The art deco ring is more than 100 years old. The band was coming apart and the ring had endured much wear and tear over the years. He preserved it by hand, and his workmanship is outstanding. The ring is restored, cleaned and in perfect condition. His work is so skilled and precise. I was so lucky to find him.
