Borys Gvozdyev MD

I'm posting this review on behalf of my mother who is Dr. Gvozdyev's patient. In her words:

I recently had cervical spine surgery (ACDF) in March 2023 performed by Dr. Gvozdyev. I was referred to him by another surgeon and I am very happy that he was recommended to me. Dr. G is an excellent surgeon and he took great care of me from consult to post surgery and recovery.

I have only good things to say about Dr. G.
Dr. G took time to answer all my questions and concerns. I never felt rushed or pressured in my time with him. He communicated well with me and explained everything to me in a way I could understand. He is very caring, calm, and nice.

There were no complications or infections after my surgery. I had minimal pain, bruising, and swelling. I didn’t even need to take painkillers after less than 1 week after surgery. My neck is currently healing nicely.

Dr. G truly cares about his patients. Even though I am still in recovery at this time, I believe he has improved my quality of life. I would recommend him to anyone needing spinal surgery.

Dr. Gvozdyev saved my life! Two and a half years ago he performed fusion surgery on my upper spine, C4, C5 & C6. Last August he performed fusion surgery on my lower spine, L4 and L5. Both surgeries were 100% successful. The pain I was experiencing, and living with for years, is gone. I have severe arthritis which caused lamina to build up on my spine and cause a variety of issues (laymen's terms). Every day I'm grateful for the recommendation I received from a friend to meet and consult with Dr. G. He is experienced, confident, and from what I've heard, the BEST SPINE SURGEON IN THE NATION. I certainly agree. It's been less than five months since my lower back surgery and I am pain free, back at the gym and carefully mountain biking again. Two years ago today, Dr. "G" (as he is known by all his staff and colleagues), performed ACDF surgery on me. By all accounts, I was in pretty bad shape. Many years of disc degeneration had left me paralyzed in my left arm and chronic pain on a daily basis. My life was miserable with pain. The surgery saved my life in no uncertain terms. Dr. G was an Angel from heaven. I will be forever grateful for his skill, passion and commitment to helping people. My life has been transformed and I cannot express my gratitude to him (and the hospital staff) who gave me my health back.

My partner was experiencing shoulder pain and numbness throughout her arm and fingers for several months. After trying acupuncture, weeks of physical therapy and an epidural shot, she opted for surgery. We've consulted with various surgeons in Orange County, who all basically said the same thing, but the minute we consulted with Dr. Gvozdyev, we knew we wanted to go with him! Dr. G is very kind and compassionate and really took his time to explain her condition to us and also gave us a detailed run through of the cervical disectomy procedure he would perform. We felt very comfortable and at ease from the beginning. With a brilliant team behind him (Luis his assistant, and the entire Spine team at Orange Coast/Memorial Care-Winnie and Alicia), the surgery was a huge success! Although my partner is still in the process of healing, she already regained sensation and strength in her arm and hand and is living pain free. Dr. G himself was always available for any questions and would personally call her several times to check on her after surgery. I can't recall a Doctor that would go out of their way to followup on a patient themselves. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. G to anyone. Not only is he a brilliant surgeon, but a very kind human being. I was very happy with Dr. Gvozdyev. He explained the surgical procedure to me clearly and thoroughly prior to surgery. I had a cervical fusion which was successful. My range of motion is good and I have no neck pain. I'm back riding my mountain bike with no restrictions. Thank you Dr. G!

About 18 months ago I went to see Dr. Gvozdyev for severe lower back pain. He put me on non-invasive treatment options for about six months, but to no avail. Then last March, he performed a two-stage surgery to repair my damaged spinal discs: A multi-level anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF); and, after a one-day hospital rest, a posterior approach for added stability.

The recovery had been arduous for the first few months. Now a year later, my back pain is mostly gone. Incidentally I'm told that I'm standing up straighter and taller than before, lol. However, I still have some lingering neuropathic pain in my lower legs. Hopefully it will get better with the passage of time.

I highly recommend Doctor Gvozdyev. Not only is he surgically skilled, he is above all a very caring doctor. I always feel at ease in his presence. He is also very generous with his time -- a rarity with doctors nowadays. He explains clearly his diagnosis, treatment plan and likely outcomes. Oh, and he always ends his office visits with a "Do you have any questions?"

I went to Dr. Gvodzyev with spinal issues that had deteriorated to the point that my legs were not fully functional and out of the blue I would end up on the floor for periods of time until sensation returned to my lower extremities.
Dr. Gvodzyev studied my MRI, showed me exactly what was damaged, explained the treatment plan thoroughly and when the surgery date arrived he proceeded to make the necessary repairs, fusing the effected vertebrae and removing numerous bone spurs effecting the spinal chord. I am happy to say the procedure was a resounding success! Thank you Doctor G, I am getting my life back.

Dr. gvozdyev (aka Dr. G) performed surgery on my c3 and c4 level In July 2021. He has changed my life! I was in so much pain everyday, I had no motivation to do anything as a result, the pain was winning the battle.

I now have no pain at all in the neck and shoulder 3 weeks out of surgery. This surgery exceeded my wildest expectations and hopes for a successful outcome. I only wish I found Dr. G sooner as I struggled for over two years in agony. I was diligent in finding the right surgeon, I saw more then 5 Surgeons. What stood out about Dr. G is, he's super diligent, thurough should be his middle name, this is exactly what you want in a Neuro surgeon!

If your reading this, you have found one of the best, he may actually be a god! Get in there and see him, get fixed and out of pain.

Dr. Gvozdyev didn't hesitate in confirming the spine problem I thought I was having. For 20 years, various doctors would tell me that it's all in my head, and wanted to prescribe pain medication. One look at an image - that's how simple it was for him to confirm the problem. Dr. Gvozdyev's explanations were simple, he was polite and pleasant, and he listened. From the first meeting to post-op, he was always willing to discuss everything and anything, making me comfortable that I chose the right professional. It has been eight months since my surgery, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Dr. Gvozdyev is excellent - at least he was for me!

Dr. G is my idea of THE PERFECT DOCTOR. It is truly his calling. If there were more surgeons like Dr. G the world would be a much better place. His level of commitment and compassion is almost unheard of in modern times. As such, he is in high demand. Getting through to the front desk can be challenging at times. Don't let that sway you. He is worth the effort. Dr G performed my acdf surgery almost 3 months ago. He came to see me twice every day that I was in the hospital. He didn't rush me into having the surgery. We met several times over the course of a year before mutually deciding the surgery was my only option. If you are having any type of spine issues, set an appointment with Dr G. You will be glad you did.

DrG did neck surgery on my neck in May and the results have been amazing! He is a great surgeon and also a very caring Dr. . I would recommend him to everybody. Thankyou Dr. For your kindness an care.

I had spinal fracures at L4 L5 That had cause my vertebrae to slip and my spine to become unstable, I needed an emergency spinal fusion at only 31 years of age ( 4 screws, 2 pins, 2 rods and a titanium cage in my spine placed using a bone graft from The hip) and dr Gvozdyev was the best surgeon I could have ever hoped for. This man was incredible, my surgery was 12 hour long, and extremely difficult, but Borys was able to fix my spine and the scar left was extremely minimal. I would absolutely reccomend DR Gvozdyev to ANYONE needing spinal surgery, Or anyone with spinal issues period. The man is incredible and brilliant!

5 stars. Brilliant, talented spine surgeon. He's also kind, articulate, respectful, and goes above and beyond to always address my concerns. This dr is a real class act. I am so pleased with the quality of care I receive from him at each visit. I would like to thank Dr. Gvozdyev for taking the best care of me! I wish more doctors were like him.

I was in pain from being rear-ended twice by the same gal for over 3 years. I tried all forms of treatment from therapy to injections to minor surgical injections, and the pain only became worse. I finally saw Dr. G and he was the calmest and kindest doctor you could wish for. He pinpointed the source of my pain and I had a C4-C5 discectomy. It has been unbelievable! I am no longer on pain meds and I feel like I have my life back! He has the skills you need and I would recommend his services for you neck and back pain.

Dr. G is an amazing, caring, concerned physician! Prior to meeting Dr. G I felt hopeless. I was slowly losing use of my arms with constant pain. I was so lucky to be referred to Dr, Gvozdyev. He found a life altering condition in my neck that i wasn't even aware of. He dx and fixed the problem within 4 weeks right in the midst of the Covid pandemic. Memorial hospital worked so wonderfully with him and i felt safe and secure. he is very professional and caring and i would refer him to anyone thank you Dr Gvozdyev.

Suffering from lower back disk bulge. Dr Gvozdyev has been treating me for about three months and has been great. Very informative, understanding, and encourageing. My situation has improved because of him. If you're having back problems I highly recommend.

Agree with all other reviews on here . Was a long , cautious journey to get there but we did and with optimum results . Very educated, amiable and the only surgeon I would ever trust with this type of surgery. Never makes you feel rushed, and has way of letting you know everything will be just fine . Definatley worth the wait to have the results I do. Pain free at 6 weeks post op. Great diagnosticion. Great Surgeon. Great person .

Dr Borys Gvozdyev did an excellent job with my back it was a long complicated operation it came out perfect ,the pain is gone and now I can walk again and the follow up visits were very encouraging thank you so much Dr Borys Gvozydyev and God Bless 🙏
