words cannot describe the breakfast i just experienced....beyond my wildest imagination...my taste buds will never know what to do after this....

I can definitively say that I have never received such exceptional service in my entire life... The level of detail boggles the mind.... The flavor profiles and the attention to detail is something I will never forget..

Very special occasion. Many thanks to Clara who made it possible for the three of us to be seated that weekend. Girlfriend’s birthday. We made the six hour road trip with a pescatarian and someone who doesn’t eat any seafood in our group. 😅
They begin our experience with a viewing of the fresh versions of ingredients that would go into our dishes. Much appreciation for the team of chefs, who made sure that, despite the dietary restrictions in our group, the dishes echoed each other — considerable thoughtfulness was expressed in how they kept all our dishes the same with only the smallest adjustments to ingredients.

Loved the use of flowers and the unique presentations. It was an impressive tasting menu with a uniquely utilized array of ingredients. For my taste, the dishes felt like they represented a bias on the savory side. In one or two cases, I felt that too much salt had been added that overpowered the taste. But all in all, beginning with the very first bowl of fresh corn prepared with silken tofu-like base, each dish offered a revelation. (Will list the menu a bit later.)

The cocktails were bright and attractive. We decided to forgo the wine pairings, but had the enjoyment of listening to the descriptions offered by the bar manager for each of the wines delivered to the neighbors dining next to us. We listened and appreciated the wines vicariously. Truly an excellent sommelier he was. Think his name was Eric.

The menu placed at our table had a narrative about this season that had inspired the dishes.

Our servers were outstanding. 20% gratuity was included in the tab. The full tasting in the restaurant came out to $342 a person. There is a tasting menu with fewer dishes downstairs in the wine cellar that is under $200. Worth experiencing with the right company on the right occasion.

Food and service was great. Quiet ambience which we really enjoyed. Would love to come back and try their other seasonal menu.

I have nothing negative to say about okta, this was such a fantastic dining experience. We’ve done tasting menus before, but this was probably my favorite as I’ve never had a THIRTEEN course meal with wine pairings! I’m so happy to have a 5 star place like this right here in wine county, what a wild ride throughout that whole meal. The sommelier was amazing, service was excellent and the food was incredibly unique and so delicious. Wine pairings perfectly complimented every dish. Nice, minimalist atmosphere inside, it definitely makes you forget that you’re in McMinnville! We came here for an anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint!

Amazing experience!!! Loved everything they served. Some foods evoked memories of childhood. I loved our host. She was amazing and friendly and explained things so well. Definitely recommend it for at least once in your life time.

We were surprised and excited to find a high-end restaurant a block from our hotel. We jumped on the chance to go and were definitely rewarded for it. The tasting menu was great with the wine pairings. The dishes really encouraged taking a 'perfect bite' to make the magic happen. There were many interesting dishes presented in novel ways and flavor combinations to tickle even my fickle palette.
The theme of the food was definitely a mushroom, root vegetable, 'earthy,' umami forward experience. The wines were perfectly paired with the dishes and had a great variety, even including local favorites. If there is anything to caution over, make sure you get a reservation at least a day in advance and know that it is pricey. If you love the fine dining experience and wish to splurge, please give it a go. You won't be disappointed. This is on-par with some of the Michelin starred restaurants we've eaten at. It's the real deal.

Okta gives a new home to fine dining in the heart of McMinnville and serves a multi-course tasting menu that is not shared with the diners until after the meal - a well thought out part of the experience. The food was excellent, with each dish carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The staff was very welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and elegant.

We were told that the menu changes frequently, highlighting the latest available produce from the farm. Being a vegetarian, I was pleasantly surprised with the vegetarian tasting menu with every dish being innovative, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the flavors were simple yet delicious. All pictures I've shared here are vegetarian dishes!

The highlight of the entire experience at Okta is the service which is impeccable. All staff and servers were friendly and knowledgeable, and they took great care of us and it was definitely a critical part of the overall excellent dining experience.

Overall, we had an amazing time at Okta. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambience was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special dining experience.

They have a Valet service which is on Ford St. Dinner prices vary quite a bit between Wednesday and Thursday being at $160 per person and Friday, Saturday, Sunday being $260 per person. Check out their website for updates and would recommend reservations for sure.

Such a unique experience, the venue, the staff, the chef, the food all excellent and special. We Had a great time there
The wine pairings were mindful and complementary to the flavors. They also have a small bar downstairs.
We loved all the unique little items they had, even the coffee at the end was excellent

One of the best meals and best restaurant experiences I have ever had!

A virtually flawless experience. While we had parked nearby, were surprised to find that even the valet had our name and escorted us to the door.

Everything was so dialed in it was hard to believe they have only been open since last summer.

We were lucky to sit next to the kitchen and were able to enjoy all the activity. Very quiet and professional.

The decor is simple but elegant. The craftsmanship is noteworthy. Adds to the experience without taking away from the food.

You are greeted at the door when you enter and there is a beatiful display of some of the featured items for the evening which are explained. A great start!

Friday and Saturday featured an extended tasting menu, but you wouldn't go hungry with the three less items served on the other nights.

While we had fifteen plates, they were all memorable. My favorites included the first dish - Parsnip, custard and abalone with chrysanthemum leaves and seaweed. This was accompanied with thinly sliced black truffle atop a truffle tart with butterflies cheese.

Other favorites were the Foie gras sandwich with buckwheat wafers; the geoduck with hazelnuts; caviar with red kuri squash and butternut squash - where the squash was the highlight; and the grass fed tenderloin with foraged mushrooms. The tenderloin was the most tender I think I have ever had - think Wagyu tender.

This restaurant is going to get lots of acclaim!

This was our 25th Wedding Anniversary dinner and it was spectacular. The staff were amazing and the food was other-worldly. I don't eat red meat and the staff made substitutions on the fly which were as amazing as the rest of the dishes. Truly art on a plate with every course. While it is very expensive (particularly the wine), it was a special occasion and we felt like we got our money's worth.

I can only speak for the bar of this upscale establishment. The menu for the restaurant was too expensive for my taste. At a starting price of $160 per person for an elevated food and spirit pairing. I had to pass, I am a bit of a miser.
The restaurant is beautiful and the host was very friendly. We had heard before hand it was pricey so we asked if we could sit in the basement bar. We were ushered to a seat at the bar. It was a Friday night around 7:00 pm. The bar was just as beautiful as the restaurant. Comfortably lite with gorgeous wood tables and muted colored soft furniture. The bartender, Amethyst (sorry if I screwed up your name) was funny and informative. The cocktail offerings are incredible and unique. I always love when the ingredients include house infused tinctures. The bartender even brands the big cubes with the restaurant logo.
Because we sat at the bar we got front seat view of the drink making action. Amethyst was smoking, stirring and shaking incredible concoctions.
To help soak up the booze we ordered fresh bread and butter. This is not just any bread and butter this is made fresh daily, thickly sliced, served with fresh butter, sea salt on a beautiful wooden tray. Priced at $10 for 2 slices my husband and I agreed we would pay that price any day for THAT bread with THAT butter! I can only imagine how incredible the food in the restaurant must be. We will be back soon even if we can only afford drinks and bread in the bar.

A world class dining experience. The staff are lovely and professional as they take you through a delightful tasting menu that showcases the best of local ingredients. The sommelier is particularly wonderful and I would highly recommend the beverage pairing to go along with the tasting menu. You will not be disappointed!

Really unique dining experience. The kitchen is beautiful and open. They have a lot of staff to guide you through your meal. Their egg custard and corn is one of the best things I have eaten.

As someone who’s been privileged enough to travel the globe and experience Michelin dining at all levels both pre and post pandemic trust me when I say this meal is not only brilliant but truly a step above. After all this time eating brilliant food it’s often hard to remember entire meals, however after this one I found myself eager to recite the entire menu even weeks after anytime someone asked me about my experience. Matt’s food reminded me about what that kind of cooking was about, and made me realize what I had been missing all these years since he left Atera.

I have been lucky enough to have Chef Lightner’s food before and I can truly say that it’s been a pleasure to both seen him and his food evolve over the years. Okta features an open kitchen where the entire dining room can view the kitchen staff working, and I must say that Chef Lightner and his team work at a level that is truly enviable and in itself something incredible to watch.

Like the hotel, the dining experience was fully holistic and more engaging than any other dining experience I’ve had. The furniture, plates, silverware, artwork, and of course food are almost all Oregon sourced, most of the produce coming from Okta’s own farm.

The staff were super attentive and excited to present the food. The food wasn’t pretentious like most high level tasting menus can be, and when servers are excited to share their depth of knowledge of the food and ingredients it allowed even some picky diners in my group to feel comfortable and eager to try.

I feel confident in saying that I will be back as soon as I get wind of a menu change, and I recommend everyone go soon before they miss the current one

The courses are both absolutely delicious and thought provoking. The wine list has a fantastic balance of international and Willamette Valley. A top dinning experience that stands among the best.

An incredible culinary experience — once in a lifetime! The mastery of Chef Matt Lightner is second to none, every dish that was served blew away any expectations for both taste and presentation. I tried foods here in ways and forms that I never thought I would, and they were all excellent. Everything is fresh and straight from the farm. The atmosphere was jovial and laid-back and lacked the rigidity and small portion sizes that one often finds in other fine-dining establishments. From the food to the service to the atmosphere of the restaurant, this is a must-experience for all in the PDX/McMinnville area.

And for those staying overnight in the McMinnville area: the Tributary Hotel offers an unrivaled hospitality experience featuring breakfast and snacks from the Okta kitchen.

Thank you to Chef Matt and the staff at Okta for everything!! We will be back soon!

First review, what’s up!

Spectacular in every way. You’ll want to come back for every menu change.

Dining at Ōkta is like seeing The Rolling Stones live if they surprised you with a few new songs covers. You know what are are getting and it is well executed on one hand, which is impressive for a new restaurant that often feels awkward having not yet found it’s identity. This restaurant knows what it is and the entire staff appears to have worked here for the last several years. But there are many ways in which even the most seasoned food critic would be surprised and delighted.

The food was phenomenal as is to be expected, with countless “Oh My God” and are “you tasting this” exclamations. What was unexpected is how much the produce from the farm, even it is raw and unaltered state, such as with herbs and lettuces, took the experience to a whole new level.

The beverage pairings and the sommelier himself were such an experience that I would visit just to do a beverage tasting menu a la carte. Not to be missed.

Staggeringly delicious. Easily one of the best culinary and service experiences on this coast. It is premier, and it is not cheap, but if you can find an occasion to justify the price you will never forget your experience at ōkta.
