Effie's Restaurant & Bar

I was randomly in the area and wanted to grab a cup of coffee and a quick bite to eat. At first glance, it looks a little run down but the inside is far from that. The servers were genuinely kind and the atmosphere was calming. They also seem to celebrate the holidays I was impressed with their decorations. Being from NJ, it reminded me of the east coast. I ate the oatmeal with bananas and raisins and it was delicious. This place is awesome!

Great diner, bar and restaurant in this area for many years. The food is especially delicious! I love the big hamburgers with fries and their real deli pickles. Their cakes are the best you can find. Freshly made every day. They give you a huge slice of cake. My favorite is the Niagara Falls cake. Everything is lovely in this restaurant. The servers and staff are always very nice. They have excellent and quick service. This restaurant has lovely ambiance. Very comfortable and cozy. Nice big tables, chairs and booths. Their breakfasts are wonderful. Their omelettes are top-notch and made to perfection. You will have a delicious meal here no matter what you order. Their prices are super affordable and they have always stayed reasonable. That’s a promise!

The Bay Area food scene has a lot going for it, but its biggest gap is the lack of diners. Effie's is a fancy version of a very good diner. Their menu is extensive and they have a full bar. I ordered one of my diner faves -- a triple decker (known at Effie's as the house club) -- and holy cow, it was fantastic. Real roast turkey -- not the slimy deli version -- on sourdough with bacon, shredded lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I immediately wanted to come back the following week to order it all over again, but unfortunately, Effie's is out of my way. Maybe I will become a monthly regular, though! Also had to try their chocolate/vanilla cake (forget the name), which is made fresh daily, and it was heavenly -- rich, indulgent sugar bomb of my diner dreams.

3/18/2022 at 11:00am. The only place offering prime rib every day. It's been around 1988. Furniture have been reupholstered. Only place offering cloth napkins for breakfast and lunch. One of the few place offering fine dining at standard pricing

Food is plentiful and delicious. The wait staff is wonderful. No matter what time of day we go we can get breakfast if we want or lunch and dinner so it's great because you really don't have to make a decision to you get there.

Effie's is one of the nicest traditional comfort food restaurants in the South Bay area. Many breakfast options to choose from as well as more options for lunch and dinner thananyrestaurant around. Drinks are available from the bar. Expect amazing service from the staff, a clean environment, and plentiful servings. Unless you are a glutton, expect to ask for a doggie bag. The dessert menu varies. Every item on it is scrumptious 😋.

Thursday is the day my uncle and I go hiking and then out to lunch. Since we'd "hiked" on the Los Gatos Creek trail, we were nearby Effie's, and my uncle, having been there years ago, wanted to try it. However, this was MY first time at Effie's, and it was good. There wasn't a crowd, so we were able to pick our table wherever we wanted. Our waitress, Robin, was exceptional. Quite the busy bee, darting from table to table (both inside and outside!), and never ONCE did my tea or my uncle's coffee go unfilled!

My uncle had his favorite cheese omelet with potatoes. I usually go with a salad (and their taco salad looked DELICIOUS), but I decided to try the House Club sandwich with French fries. I'm glad I did. As you can see in the picture, it was quite a hearty lunch! The French fries were perfectly cooked, and the sandwich was the great. My only complaint would be with the iced tea. It was starting to get that what I call "skunky" taste, meaning it was an older batch and not freshly made. Still, I drank it since it wasn't yet to the point of not being drinkable.

Other than that setback, all was well at Effie's, and I hope to return to try that taco salad.

Great local restaurant. Had a quiet lunch. I had the House Club sandwich which was good. Potato salad needs seasonings. Service very good.

Wonderful service from the staff, especially Gina. She took extra care of us and made the entire experience enjoyable. The food was heavy portions and delightfully delicious.

The food and service are always fantastic. For the most recent visit, we ordered corned beef hash and Reuben sandwich. Both were top notch and highly recommended.

This place has been around forever and I'm glad it's still here. Old school decor but very nice wait staff. Food is clasic american at very good prices for this area.
I went with a group of ladies for lunch. Most had sancwiches, which there was a large variety. I had one of the lunch specials, cup of soup and a chicken salad sandwich. What I found remarkable was the swirl pattern of the bread. Visually extremely pleasing.!

The elegance of "classic" fine dining, the service was attentive, the food wonderful, the karoke was fun and a great place to relax and ENJOY.....

Been going here for years. Food, service and atmosphere are top notch. The bar is great too.

What a lovely cute place. Very clean, I love the chairs, would be nice for a small wedding reception.

My daughter and I stopped in at Effie's today for a bit of nostalgia. When we lived in the Valley our family would have dinner there often.

We were seated as soon as we walked through the door, and I was very pleased that our server guided us to a booth.

We ordered Monte Carlo sandwiches with soda for my daughter and iced tea for myself. The tea was soured, so I told our server. I ordered a coffee instead which was brought to our table immediately.

Our sandwiches were delicious, the service was wonderful, and we both enjoyed the quiet ambience of the dining room.

Effie's is moderately priced. Our sandwiches were $18.00 each. Our bill for lunch totaled $53.00, including the tip. I would recommend Effie's to anyone looking for great food and service!

Their food is so good, and good size portions. I forget about this place since I don't live that close.

Went for breakfast. Not to busy but only one server/ manager. She did great! Food was a ordered. Friendly staff. Very clean. Outside seating. Has a full bar attached.

This place is great. The steaks are tender and juicy. The broiled salmon melts in your mouth! The cooks know what they are doing that’s for sure. I work for a food service company so I am pretty particular about what o eat. The wait staff are sweet and knowledgeable. It’s a wonderful place to go for a date night.

Kind of a "home" type of atmosphere. The waitresses treat you well. Service is great. The bathrooms are always clean. Everyone I side always has a great attitude! I come here a couple times a week.
