Mitch’s Auto Repair saved our holiday. Having bad smoke and exhaust while driving through Yosemite and needed a mechanic. All mechanics in the area were closed instead of Mitch’s Auto Repair. Called it up and Mitch told us to come on in.

Excellent mechanic that got down to the root problem (altitude monitor and extremely dusty ventilation) and repaired on the spot (in the cold rain as well).

Would 100% recommend to any travelers without a doubt, great heart and good humour as a bonus!

Great auto mechanic many mechanics around the area were afraid to work on my Subaru forester because it needed the motor pulled and head gaskets done he took on the job with no problem and did a awesome job and keep me informed along the way with other stuff that needed to be taken care of while doing the job he is one of the only mechanics I trust around the hole area now and will take my vehicles back to him for any feature work thank you Mitch

For anyone who may run into car troubles near Yosemite Valley- Mitch is the guy to go to! He was incredibly helpful this past weekend when our car needed a specific part and service ASAP. Mitch answered my call, ordered the part, and got our car up and running again, all within a few hours. He's usually open and available on weekends, which isn't the case for many auto repair shops in the area. All in all, it was a solid 10/10 experience. Mitch and Nick are truly lifesavers.

After a No-Show to appt I had with a local and "highly recommended," well known mechanic failed to show up to his own shop to do my brake job, (with a twist...) you see, previous mechanics had already failed to figure out and were still baffled, as to why my brakes were sporadically locking up on my prized, classic muscle car and this is AFTER this "expert" had me go and pre-purchase ALL of the parts needed for that particular repair, (this particular, and well known, shop owner also knew I was driving it that same afternoon in the Modesto's Graffiti cruise/parade event!...
I quickly scoured the Yelp reviews searching for a last minute trustworthy mechanic that would at least be available on a pinch. I read the great reviews on Mitch's Auto Repairs and quickly called him, Mitch not only dropped whatever else he may have had to work on that day, ( To boot, Mitch is also "On-Call" for his own tow service!) but he happily and very methodically went through the entire brake system and made repairs and adjustments! Mitch got me on my way and at a VERY reasonable cost, I might add and I made it, with time to spare, confidently and proudly driving my high school dream car, a gift from my son for my 60th Birthday, to my very first Graffiti Parade...

While traveling from Colorado, thru Washington and down to California and back to Colorado our check engine light came on blinking. Being so far away from anywhere on a Sunday afternoon, it was instant panic. A quick Google search and phonecall, we had Mitch on the job. He completely went thru his computer system, diagnosed and cleaned up prior mechanics work to get us back on the road by Tuesday. He communicated each move. Showed us areas of concern and what he did about it. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable. By far the best mechanic I have utilized. A blessing that he was there. We would definitely drive out of our way to see him again!

Mitch was absolutely amazing. he didn’t talk down to me like most mechanics do, and if I had a question he answered it. Communication was always open and he got to us in a timely manner. Very personable and professional. Will definitely be using Mitch in the future!

Mitch helped me out with a tow. His positive attitude, friendly nature, and willing to share his wealth of knowledge on my vehicle's potential issue made the process enjoyable (a word not often used when having a vehicle towed). He kept in contact with me as we had a few hiccups with the shop it was being towed to and was a genuine great man to work with.

Mitch is a gentleman and a scholar. I will happily use his services again should the occasion arise.

Mitch came through for me in an urgent repair. I called around 7 pm. My car was overheating and I had to work in the morning. He told me bring it to his shop and he had it repaired by 9. I was in a dire situation and he came through. He went above and beyond. And at a very reasonable price. Thank You Mitch. I Highly Recommend Him.

I needed help getting my Denali pulled up a steep hill and Mitch was very respectful and nice and gladly helped. He even went out of his way to make sure to get the job done in a timely manner and all with a smile on his face! I appreciate his help and would highly recommend to everyone!

Mitch is awesome! We were stranded on a Sunday night and gave him a call. Even when he was on his own family vacation, he made some calls and found a trusted colleague to install a new alternator at 9pm on a Sunday. We were home in two hours. Best service ever.

If you are ever stranded near Oakdale, or even as further, give Mitch a call. He has towing capabilities and is unfortunately not in the AAA database, so keep his # handy! However, he is fantastic! I needed a new alternator on a Sunday for my Subaru. He is on call on weekends. He met me at his shop when the AAA tow truck dropped me off. He found the parts I needed, and even was able to apply the warranty on the alternator so I only had to pay for labor! No one has ever done that for me before! He explained my options and I felt well informed about what was going on with car. He is knowledgeable about many different cars and I absolutely would use him again if ever in the area. Nice to find a trustworthy mechanic en route to the Bear Valley area. With an old car, I'm sure this won't be my last time stranded midway!

This man was amazing , mitch answered upon the first ring (at 11pm) I said I needed a tow and gave him the location . He told me there would be a little wait ,but he would be there shortly .I had called multiple places prior and received insane numbers for a tow , he beat them all by over $150 cheaper . He made sure to keep contact with me the entire time and updated me upon his arrival time when he could. It took about an hour but he got it loaded quickly and very effectively. He then also gave me some advice on what might be wrong with my car (alternator) which it was I found out . I had a great experience with Mitch and I will always use and recommend his services. A true professional

Oh man... I don't know where to start... Mitch is the best!!! I wanted to get my dad's bumper repaired for him as a surprise while he was out of town. I called around other auto repair shops in Oakdale on a Friday evening and talked to some rude guys... But not Mitch! Super friendly, personable, and willing to do everything he can to help you out. Even though he was full for the entire weekend he was still willing to see me in minutes just to take a look... Not only did he take a look but he ended up spending 45 minutes to fix it like a miracle worker. He got the dents out but unfortunately there are some cracks so cosmetically the whole thing would have to be replaced. But he suggested the most affordable ways I could go about it as well as ways that would cost too much money for no reason. I really appreciate his kindness and generosity.
I don't know what the bad reviews are talking about... From now on I will always go to him first for car problems. A+ all the way around!

Mitch--an incredible understanding man who helped us in an extreme situation. He's dependable, honest, and truly does his job with passion. His employees are of the same caliber! We had to use both of Mitch's services...towing and auto repair. He repaired our diesel truck during hours when we thought we'd be stranded. Our vacation would be a mess without Mitch! Highly recommend him. We spend time in the area for vacation-- and I know if we ever need him again he'll be the guy to call. Top notch job Mitch!

I was on a backpacking trip with friends in Yosemite and had our car overheat and break down. We gave Mitch an urgent call and he did everything in his power to get our car moving to our next stop. He found parts amazingly fast, fixed er up quickly and got us on our way to the next stop. If there's anyone who can fix your car, it's Mitch!

Unfortunately our poor car and it's starter died on the way back from camping one hot Saturday. Mitch made arrangements to pick up the car on a Saturday and worked on it over the weekend so that we could pick it up on Monday. He was friendly and responsive, completed the work quickly and at a reasonable price. our family owes Mitch a big thank you.

I moved to Oakdale less than two years ago, and one big challenge with my move was finding a new auto mechanic I could trust— especially with an older car.

I called Mitch's Auto Repair with a first job that was relatively small, just to test the waters and see how I liked his shop. Things went fine, and so this past December 2017/ January 2018, I entrusted Mitch with a larger job that had multiple facets and was going to take a longer period of time.

Yes, it did take awhile for the work to be done (because he also works towing, and has to balance the two duties); but once on the car, I have to say he was very thorough and covered all the things I requested to my satisfaction.

Being a classic car, and not my daily driver, I told him time was not an issue; and that I'd rather the issues be investigated carefully, as opposed to rushing (just to get it back to me as quick as possible), and missing something.
Though if I told him I had an immediate deadline with my daily-driver, I am sure he would try his best to meet it, just so long as I was realistic, and didn't expect 10 different things be done, with a 48 hour turn-around!

His knowledge of 60's /70's cars (and of course late model cars— which are his bread & butter); was especially helpful in this instance, given the carburetor and "pre-engine computer" year of my car-- that many younger mechanics, working for fast paced "just push 'em in, push 'em out as fast as you can" shops; don't want to mess with this day in age.

Before parts were ordered and work was started, he estimated the cost over the phone, so that there were no surprises. Each step along the way, he would either call or text to let me know of any challenges or changes, where he either had suggestions or needed my approval/decision. This I appreciated as it made for a very up-front, down to earth, transparent, and honest experience.

Working two jobs, he keeps odd hours, and might not get back to you right away, but with some patience, he is a meticulous & detailed mechanic with multiple make/model/year experience; and is worth any wait that ensues. His prices are very fair, and he will work with you where he can. I certainly would recommend this shop.
