This store is an absolute must stop if you are an avid reader. They have such a wide selection of books, and the folks here are so nice. Please stop in and spend some time with them and their wonderful selection of books!

What a gem! My friend and I stumbled across this used bookstore on our day trip to Ventura. Support local business! The staff know their books and helped guide me to the proper section with patience. Granted these books are used and old, so you won't find the latest and current used books. For example the biography section had old biographies. You can probably find out of print books on all topics here.

They also have LPs. and magazines! One could spend hours here! I took a selfie and posted my photo onto their instagram page #bankofbooks and got a free book!

To the owner: online there is something called “Blind Date with a Book” where people buy them for $5 as a mystery, not knowing what book they’re going to get. They just tell you the genre they like and you ship it out to them, usually has free shipping. Look it up, thought of you!

Very friendly and so many different interesting books

Great little bookshop. Most of the staff was very friendly. Everything is very easy to find and a great selection. I will definitely becoming back here to find those hidden gems.

Great used bookstore! I stumbled into this place and now it's become a habit a few times a year. Don't miss the basement. I find the strangest gems here with the loose organization by general category. Plus, the smell of old books transports me into "vacation mode". One amazing perk is you can bring unwanted books and get store credit. I always spend 90-120 minutes and buy more than I intended because the prices are very reasonable. Everyone that works there is really nice and haply to help!

Two floors, towering shelves of dusty books, but a clean space and friendly owner. We spied some amazing finds. Books over 200 years old, and an extensive spirituality and health section. Even a generous old vinyl selection downstairs. Fun to browse around. There was even a children's section with lots of new and old classics. Your little one will love the little chairs and vintage toys placed about for imagination sparking.

This place is a cute little hole in the wall joint that has tons of old and rare books. I love the place dearly and pass it every day on my way to work. Lately they've been selling grab bags that have four books ranging from adventure to mystery all the way to romance. If you want something special to read but can't decide what I'd suggest getting a grab bag from this place and gambling with something new.

This is an awesome bookstore! It's so huge with two separate floors with a very diverse and fantastic collection of every kind of book you can imagine. They even have crossword puzzle books!! Also reasonably priced and great customer service. The employees and manager were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it if you're looking for any book or magazine.

Excellent customer service, very welcoming, a lovely Gem and truly a ventura Landmark. If you love books, great place to start. Also a must to to take your used books to to help protect Ventura’s culture and literacy. This is a wonderful local business to support and great place for people of all ages to enrich their minds in this digital age.

They have a massive assortment of books. You could spend all day looking through the many options. Great, friendly service and even willing to check their warehouse for titles not at the shop. Highly recommend.

This is the most amazing book store that I have ever been to. We started going here when I was a teenager on the way to the beach and now I sometimes go just to stop somewhere. They have a huge selection of every kind of book. Their prices are fair and their customer service is excellent.

Super cool hole in the wall bookstore. You can get any genre you can think of and they even have vinyls! Really nice staff as well. It just has that awesome feel of a cozy little local bookstore that's so hard to find nowadays!

Amazing book store. Huge selection, well organized. It is sad they are being forced to close their store. I pray they can relocate somewhere and remain in operation somehow. Thousands of books.

I came in today just out of curiosity and overall I was really pleased to find some good reads available for my interest. They also have a downstairs room that has plenty of categories to choose from. I didn’t get the ladies name at the register but she was really kind and welcoming and that goes a long way. Thank you.

Always a good experience. They have so many books, it is easy to get lost! Staff is very helpful and friendly. Don't forget to check out the downstairs!

This is a little slice of Ventura history. The owner (whose name I'm forgetting) actually owns 2 bookstores, and even has another warehouse of used books; so if you're looking for something specific and you can't find it here, they will always take your name down & check their other stores to see if they have your book.
Bank of Books is 2 stories and both stories are something to see. The upstairs has very high ceilings with shelves that go all the way up, and one of those ladders on a track that goes around for access to the higher books. Downstairs has a much lower ceiling, but it still cool because of how compactly they've stored their thousands of books.
This place is great to check out if you're looking for something specific, just looking for something new to read, or just someplace interesting to meander for a bit. And if you get to meet the owner (he works there sometimes) he's really interesting to talk to. He's working on building a display of historically significant bibles, and has been selling books in the Ventura area for a pretty long time.
