Camarillo Public Library

Parking: free and plenty of spots

Probably the most beautiful public library in southern California. It's up there with Cerritos, Huntington Beach, and Los Angeles Central library. Has two floors. The young kid section is great. Has a room designed like a submarine, an area like a ship, an area with mosaic bench, and more. Very clean building. Camarillo did a great job with this.

Definitely worth seeing if you are in or passing through Camarillo.

They have a used book store that closes at 4PM.

I haven't explored everything here, but you can borrow DVDs, movies etc in addition to their great book collection. They have a printing service too which allows you to print either from your own laptop or their work station.

I just came in for the first time since moving back to Camarillo 6 months ago. What a beautiful facility and friendly, helpful staff! I remember Camarillo's first 2 libraries and this blows them away. What an asset to the community!

Huge library! This was my first time visiting this place and I was pleasantly surprised. They had private rooms to study or have a small meeting. Really lovely place.

I love this place. So beautifully built, and such a great environment to be in, and the architecture is absolutely breathtaking! I spent and enjoyed many hours here🧡 Also, they have a lot of cool programs and the people who work here are all so friendly and welcoming!!! Highly recommend this gem of a library!

Ever wanted your own place to curl up with a book and lose yourself for the day? This library is one of a kind. From the Persian carpet made of tile to the pirate playscape in the children’s section, this library is a dream. The Friends of the Library at the entry has an extensive selection of donated books that are sold to support the library. The teen section is for teens only( just like they like it!) and the huge children’s section has everything from picture books, series books and early readers, graphic novels, foreign language books and a fiction and non-fiction section. Upstairs you can find Spanish language books, a business section and newspapers. Study carrells can reserved for study sessions. Hopefully one day, a lovely cafe will return again to the former one’s spot. This library is independent and not a part of the Ventura County Library system.

Such a beautiful library, I was astounded at the beautiful architecture of this building. Very nicely organized, clean and professional. The service was great, I was greeted and attended with kindness. They help you out with any question you have, and they’re very helpful with taking books out and using the computers. My new favorite place in all of Camarillo.

What a beautiful library! I spent a couple of hours reading in front of the fireplace upstairs. The children's area is so whimsical and magical. The librarians are friendly and professional. There is an attached Library Cafe and a Friends of the Library bookstore for 'gently used books.' Take it from a library connoisseur, give yourself the gift of an afternoon just reading and enjoying some quiet time here.

Computers, printers, sound proof rooms, etc. make this library a resource for job hunters & entrepreneurs & students who need a backdrop for zoom meetings and access to equipment. Lots of free fun in the kids and young adult areas as well as a fireplace and magazines to relax. Great second hand book store with movies, music, books & magazines for the price of the coins in your pocket.

Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff. An architecturally beautiful library with enough resources to keep you learning for a dozen lifetimes. Just an amazing library that the people of Camarillo should be proud to have developed.

Every place I've ever lived, I scout out the public library first thing. The Camarillo Public Library is the most beautiful library I have ever had the privilege to visit. The children's wing is so truly awesome, it makes me wish I was a kid again!

Great selection and is spotless. Kids section is amazing. Summer reading program is fantastic. My little big guy loves reading but loves it even more now that we can track what he is reading.

This library is absolutely beautiful. Everyone is so kind. The kids area is so beautifully made. The shipwreck. The stations. Perfect! The rest of the library, the teen area, the upstairs - gorgeous library.

This is a fantastic library. Easily the best in Ventura County. There's a giant children's section that is just amazing. The adult library is equally great. The librarians are all super nice and very helpful.

This is a must-visit in Camarillo. Love how big and beautiful the library is, especially the huge pirate ship in the children's section! Besides looking great, it also has wonderful programming, helpful staff, a cafe, and a cool used bookstore. If you have kids, take advantage of the nice family bathroom and self check-out in the children's section.

A really beautiful library with a lot of resources and many public events. I have lived in Camarillo for 24 years.. The old library was quite small and plain. The residents care enough about having a great library to put their money where there mouth is. Concerning some people who object to not being able to bring drinks in, would you like it if people came into your house and spilled drinks? Respect the library, there is a cafe and seating just outside the library where you can eat and drink. Don't be selfish.
