The Beaver County Court House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

The Nomination form read, in part:

"Beaver County was created by the Territorial Legislature in 1855. In 1876 the 6,000 inhabitants of the county elected to build Beaver County Courthouse to house the Second Judicial District Court of the Territory of Utah."

"This lovely courthouse remains in use today by Beaver County, an emblem of the pretentious construction in public buildings during the Territorial period. It also symbolizes the Federal Government's attempts to govern and observe the Mormons during a period when the practice of Polygamy heightened those conflicts."

A wonderful Victorian architectural building. The period pieces that are in the building are amazing. Furniture, clothing, household items etc. The women who were working, were so knowledgeable and polite. We spent over an hour there touring every room. We were lucky enough to have been there when the bell clock rang 12:00 noon. My hubby really liked the jail cells and the stories about the prisoners. I highly recommend spending time here.

This beautiful 4 story brick building of Queen Anne Victorian style was going to be torn down until the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers received a grant to renovate it. It was preserved to it's original glory and is truly a hidden gem worthy of a visit. From the original jail in the basement with its original heavy iron doors and separate door entrance for the prisoners, a beautiful courtroom with exquisite woodwork and hardwood floor, to the bell tower that has its original clock from 1889 that rings every hour which could be heard throughout town, this building is definitely worth an hour or two visit. The building has many pioneer artifacts from clothing, china dishes and an old organ that crossed the plains, furniture, pictures hanging in the main hall of Beaver's original pioneers including Butch Cassidy's grandmother, butter churns and presses, even a preserved wedding cake that is over 125 years old and many other original gems used by the pioneers. The rooms are set up well with items grouped together. There is the original U.S. flag with 48 stars that flew on the USS Utah during the attack on Pearl Harbor and the story why it's in Beaver. There is no fee to visit. If you're into history or just old pioneer things, this is the place to stop in Beaver. It's closed on Sundays and Mondays.

A little quant town compete with it's old courthouse and Jain that housed the actually Butch Cassidy And the Sundance Kid and the houses they grew up in. Little pieces of the past are seen everywhere.

Worth a trip and the stairs up to the bell tower and down to the jail. Fabulous historical items and rooms.

When asked where we were from, they did not hide their disdain that I was from California. Would have been a 5 star review otherwise.

Some neat history of the area is showcased. I thought the jail cells were most interesting. It's a good family attraction for free.
