Hot Rod's Downtown Barber Shop

This place has been a Barbershop for a 100 years and is extremely cool, filled with antiques and staffed with 2 of the most interesting barbers I have ever met. We had a great time smoothing with the 2 brothers, one of whom owns the shop. The ambiance and wonderful personalities aside, the haircut was outstanding as well.

My son loves Hot Rod’s and the guys who work there. He always gets a trendy and cute haircut. My son has autism and often struggles with sensory issues so he really trusts the workers and doesn’t fear cuts anymore. It helps they have a great sense of humor and we’re a family that enjoys fun teasing.

Came in with 5 people and only 2 of us were getting haircuts. The entire staff welcomed us all in, made sure we all had a spot to sit and were incredibly kind and welcoming. The boys got great haircuts and the barbers made it a point to pay attention to detail! Once we left we couldn’t stop talking about how fun of an experience it was and how genuine the entire staff was. Best barber shop in Bloomington!

Great place for a hair cut and beard trim. Was nervous since it was the first time I had someone trim my beard but man they did a great job! Love that barber shop smell afterwards also!

Didn't get a cut, but Rod is really nice and professional, and the old-school shop vibe is awesome.

Perfect mix of affordability and quality of cut. I’ve been going to another local spot paying $40-$45, and for a $28 fade you’ll get a great looking clean cut with Rod. Thanks guys.

If you’re a student looking for an incredible haircut for a great price look no further. Best in B-Town and there is absolutely no doubt about it. To make it even better they have that old school barber shop atmosphere.

Excellent place, also cool barbers to talk to while you get your haircut. Reece did an excellent fade for me last minute before my wedding. This place has an old school feel that provides clean modern haircuts. Highly recommend

Was my first time at this little shop next to the bluebird, which is easily overlooked. My hair is difficult to work with, in part because I'm balding at the crown and because its wavy-ness changes with length. Typically I end up doing a few touch ups afterwards, especially with a new barber.

This was not the case at Hot Rod's. The environment was casual and relaxed as Jay quickly cut my hair to perfection. It was exactly how I had envisioned, despite providing extremely vague instructions.

Prices are fair and you can easily schedule and pay online.

10/10 would recommend.

These guys are the best.. an old school barber shop vibe and they are all very skilled at their craft. I take my 3 boys (11, 9, and 7 yrs old) in for cuts and they love going in to see the guys -- and so glad to see Jay back in the shop!

First time having a haircut in the US and it was great!!! Reese was the barber, and he was extremely attentive and did an awesome job. Great talk too. Will go back for sure!

The guys here were really nice and very accommodating. They gave me the best haircut I've had for 2 years, with a very reasonable price. They also have options for styles, beard shaves, etc. They shave the back of your neck with some good smelling shaving cream and aftershave, which was very nice. Overall a great experience.

Great quality haircuts from good guys at a fair price.

This isn't a place that will offer you whiskey while you wait and charge you $50. At the same time, this isn't a giant chain where you never recognize the barber, who tends to be a better hair-gel salesman than barber. The guys here run a chill barber shop focused on giving you a good haircut.

Keep in mind that they don't take appointments but you can drop in, put your name on the mirror, and they'll give you a decent estimate about how long it is going to take. If you aren't there early, expect to wait an hour or two. The wait is worth the cut.

As long as I'm in Bloomington, I'm not going anywhere else.

Great barber shop. Rod and Brian are just as friendly as they are good at cutting hair. Offer everything and they use straight razors for the authentic barber shop experience. Price is perfect for what you get. A good haircut isn’t cheap and a cheap haircut isn’t good. You won’t regret going to Hot Rod’s Barber Shop

We’ve been coming here for over 5 years. Hands down the best customer service in the Tri-county area! Rod and Jay have been amazing with each and every cut/style we ask for. Amazing with kids too! Loyal customers for life here.

I have never been to a barber shop in Bloomington before and I don't think I could have made a better choice. Checking in online was easy and I didn't have to wait. The haircut was excellent and I'll be back.

Besides being a great barber, Rod is a good family man and a good neighbor.
