Boot Hill Cemetery

Boot Hill Cemetery is a beautiful graveyard in a wooded area. It has many old graves but is still in use. My maternal grandfather who (like most of my relatives and I) is from Lancaster County, PA spent the last few decades of his life in Idaho City and is buried in the Masonic section of Boot Hill Cemetery. My mother and I took a trip out West and stayed with his widow for several days. My mom took me to see Grandpa's final resting place and we spent a few hours exploring the graveyard. It's a very serene place and has a number of interesting tombstones, including some that are handmade. It's a lovely, peaceful place.

Really interesting spot in Idaho City. worth checking out if you visit, especially the sections for the outlaws. Amazing amount of history on display here. Be sure to check out the map guides in the cemetery. They contain a lot of really interesting information.

Beautiful peaceful history laden place. Amazing experience and the people of Idaho City were the kindest people. I live in Boise and it sucks and is overrated. Might move here.

Incredibly preserved and authentic Cemetery

A remarkably historic and current cemetery, where interesting historical figures and unusual monuments occupy the same forested hillside as locals recently passed, flowers and memorials freshly laid.
