Jerome Veteran Memorial Park

I have visited here several times since becoming Idaho State Sponsor for the Tour of Honor. Whoever is taking care of this Memorial Park is doing a great job. 2023's Tour is commemorating the 50th Anniversary to the end of US participation in the Vietnam War, peace treaty signed in January 1973. The last draft was in Dec 1972 and the draft ended in June of 1973. I graduated in May of 1973 my number was 13. April 1975 was the last pullout of American forces. Aside from rider information this is my write up for ID5 Jerome;

The memorial is a granite slab lying horizontal to the long axis with graphics of Vietnam soldiers and the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.

1st Lt Johnny William Benton is honored on Panel 38W, Line 54 of The Wall. 1st Lt Benton entered basic training June 21st, 1966. He served in Vietnam with the 11th Armored Calvary “Blackhorse” Regiment’s Air Cavalry Unit. On November 25th, 1968, he was fatally wounded by a random sniper bullet during an aerial recon mission just North of Bien Hoa in the Binh Duong Province. I went here in July or August I can't remember for the car show. I met some sweet people and saw some really nice cars. I couldn't tell you how many corvettes I saw there which made my day. I also saw a dodge hellcat and an old dodge charger. If you know me, I love dodge challengers and corvettes. I took multiple photos and still cherish them to this day. Jerome park is a big tradition for my family to go see the cars. I have attended since I was 6.

Beautiful. A fantastic space for the public to enjoy. I think it's a great idea to have memorials for the veterans. I think it speaks to the quality of the community to have created this. Jerome should be proud of, and appreciate those in the community that made this happen. I strongly recommend this place.
