Minister Creek Recreation Area

Loved the hike. My wife and I hiked the North Loop on this first day of summer and really enjoyed the way the trail wends through the boulders. I feel it could use some more trail markers. If another hiker hadn't told us that it goes from silver diamond to a blue blaze, then back again, we may have missed a turn or two. And thank you to whomever used a sharpie on the silver diamond indicating a turn. The sign board was broken and missing.

We did the 6 and half trip,The north and south loops. And also the overlook. Its a lovely hike . I'd say for older kids as it is up and down and rocky. Nice places to camp to,but we haven't as of now. No bathrooms or water fill ups on the way. I believe the south is the one with plenty of creeks. There are bathrooms at paid camping area(no sinks). Lots of big rocks along path. Very pretty! Hope to go back sometime.oh follow the diamond or download map as there are tricky spots.

A very kind and beautiful afternoon hike. THIS IS NOT A HIKE TO ATTEMPT IN TENNIS SHOES. I used my Mendel hiking boots and noted that if I ever bring friends to this trail, I will advise them to use boots, not sneakers. The large rocks and sometimes steep terrain provide a friendly challenge with a great reward. The overlook is worth every minute of the hike. I completed the middle and lower loops of the trail. Next time I hike Minister Creek, I will definitely make time to complete the long loop!

Great hike and a beautiful place to camp. Make sure to bring snacks/water! We've been coming here for years and there is nothing like it. The nature is untouched and filled with wonderful surprises. I would highly recommend this place to any nature lovers.

Great trails of varying distance and terrain. Awesome in the winter!

Minister creek is one of the best hiking areas in western Pennsylvania. The trail itself is 6 miles long, gradual up and down slopes. The woods are beautiful. There is a rock formation that outcrops in multiple areas that is fun to climb around on. good backpacking campsites all over. I have hiked all over the area besides the trail and have found other outcroppings that are great and lots of wildlife. You can make 2 days of hiking and climbing around here

My family and I hiked the Middle and South Loops on July 16th. What an amazing hike!! Quite steep in parts, but the rock formations make it completely worth while. There is an amazing view from the Minister Valley overlook. I will be back there to stay at the campground and to explore even more of this area.

This is a shining example of what the Allegheny National Forest has to offer!!

As a family of over 30 with all aunts and cousins combined, we have camped Minister for over 20 years. It is the time I look foward to every year. The campground is well manicured. The spaces are large and the cost is cheap. You can hike every which way. The creek provides amazing sound when you are laying down for the night to go to sleep. excellent for washing pots and pans. I enjoy going out of the campground to the parking lot and hiking that trail to the "big" creek, only about a half mile or so and spending the afternoon. Good spot to bathe in the summer. Would reccomend.

Excellent place for an overnight backpacking trip.

Beautiful trails winding through woods and over rocks to a gorgeous overlook. Trails are steep at places, with moderate difficulty.

Our favorite place to backpack. It's worth timing your hike so you're at the overlook at night. On a clear night, the view of the Milky Way is great!

Absolutely beautiful. The hiking is challenging and beautiful. The rock formations are amazing and the scenic overlook is breathtaking.

This is my cathedral! Spent more time backpacking here in the summer as a young adult than anywhere else. Am in a wheelchair now but still dream of Minister Creek.

i have been coming here to minister creek and tionesta creek area for many years. it is tradition for me. same group of friends every year. camp fish and enjoy nature. Trent Stevenson
