The Pastor and his family are great ..Small church and everyone is very welcoming

It had been awhile since my husband and I were at a church.. especially me. I grew up going to church but never TOTALLY connecting with messages and much of the time I felt I was listing to “scripts” be read, in a way.. like pastors were not totally in tune with the messages they were giving... Pastor Hughes is an AMAZING and thorough pastor though. From day 1 we were like “wow” he delivers awesome messages and really gives you something to walk away with every time. He is so eloquent and you can tell he really puts the time and effort into studying and putting together these sermons. My husband is particular about preaching too doesn’t care for certain styles and can be easily put off at times but he loves our church too. So glad we found it and happy to be part of it.

Calvary Baptist Church is a bible believing church. Our pastor is faithful to the Lord and His word. An intelligent man that further studies to bring the true gospel to his flock. The congregation are welcoming and faithful people. I came to Calvary in my teen years, never really knowing the value of a good church or the blessing of God. I now am saved, baptized, and blessed. I visited many other churches and never felt the same as I did at Calvary. The difference, Calvary is not a "church". It is a place to worship God, to learn God's Word, to fellowship with like believers, to receive guidance from a dedicated Pastor devoted to God not man, to serve the Lord, and it is a place God has blessed and is working in the hearts of His church. I now am a faithful, long serving, and saved and baptized member of Calvary. It is the only church in my area that offers everything my family and I need.

Pastor Hughes is not only intelligent but also a gifted public speaker. He comes fully prepared to deliver thought provoking sermons. If you have a passion to learn and understand the bible then make time to attend.

I basically grew up in this church and now my children are doing the same. This church is like family to me. Pastor Hughes delivers gospel truth and doesn't water it down.

This is a great church to attend. We enjoyed our time there. If we lived in the area we would join this church. The preaching is bible true and was without comprise .

It's always nice to visit when in town. Friendly and love seeing all the updates to the church building.

I have been here for some time. I have been to churches all around the world. This is truly a blessed place to be. The only down side is the youth ministry isn't more (for a lack of better words). Pastor Joshua Hughes is a young passionate preacher filled with the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Hughes seems like a good pastor his massage is clear and his sermons are sounded . I think he has a hard job in the coal region. This church is not a loving church, so you have to visit first and pray before making a desicion if this is a good church for you or not.
