Winter warning!
If you come here during snowfall, be prepared for rough muddy roads.

For the rest, be prepared for peace and quiet out here. There are tons of trails and places to stop, but Hector Falls needs to be near the top. Wide trail to the bottom with tall trees on both sides and a clear view to the elevation on one side. When you leave the parking lot, you'll walk downhill through light curving paths. You'll enter a piney grove with a creek on your left side, and the waterfall is not too far ahead. Large stones ahead where the creek turns to falls, as it makes it way to the river at the bottom of the hill.

Follow the stream from the falls to the river below and see where the beaver took out plenty of trees for its home somewhere on the river.

Beautiful falls. Well worth the short hike.

It's a bit of a hike once you get to the parking area, but it's not terribly difficult. The waterfall isn't the most active one in the world, but it's definitely unique, with the way it flows over the rock.

Great little water falls hidden in Allegheny National Forest. About a mile walk from the parking area but fairly easy to get to. Recommend going during wet season to see the most water coming over the falls.

I would only recommend this spot if you know it has rained a decent amount within the last couple of days/week. We’ve had fairly dry weather lately and as you can see, the waterfall was far from what I was hoping to see. It was still a beautiful hike and quite (we were the only ones there). I’m still giving it 5 Stars because I know it would have been beautiful with more water. Access is a dirt road to the parking lot and a 25 min (I’m guesstimating) hike down to the falls. There is zero cell phone reception (Verizon) so keep that in mind.

Hard to find the trail to get to this place, but if you can locate the gate which someone thankfully scratched "Hector -> " on in tiny letters, you're in for a real treat. The trail is relatively short and easy to traverse. The scenery is just fantastic; beautiful waterfall cascading over two rectangular faces of moss-covered rock. The whole place is so serene and green. Makes for a great photo opportunity. There are a few places right there at the falls which are perfect for a picnic.

It was a nice easy trail that was about a two mile round trip. It took a minute to find the right place to park. The pathway was a little muddy but not bad. Overall a great experience.

This is a beautiful set of falls. Jim Cheney's direction from his book take you right there. Take water street in Ludlow and then scenic drive to avoid the road with a tree down.

Trail was nice. Downhill to get to the little falls and uphill back but a lovely spot with the huge boulders and the trickling water made it worthwhile.

Awesome little hike! About an hour round trip walking at a brisk pace. Easy trail, slightly steep grade, but if you take your time should be doable by almost anyone.

This would make an excellent landmark for the forestry service if funding allowed, would be a very nice experience if history, or anything about the area was added. Five stars for beauty!

Forrest service road to access locations is a bit rough, as it should be, so consider a vehicle that matches that purpose. Trail down to the falls is an easy walk, from the left hand fork down to the fall, a bit steeper with lots of roots and boggy spots which could trip up careless feet. The trail shows the effects of being hugged to death. Lots of feet have passed this way and it shows in all the exposed tree roots. The falls themselves are worth the time spent in getting there about 30 minutes from the trailhead. Amazing the small stream you hike along feeds such a nice falls. We went after unexpected rainy summer and the falls ran well, I imagine this place thunders during the spring runoff.

Nice hike in and out, we had a little bit of rain so some water was going over falls but not a lot.

Nice hike, pretty easy. A little slippery and muddy when we went (snowed a little), but beautiful. We took in the rocks, trees and of course crossing over the water to the falls at the bottom.

Absolutely love this place. Will continue to keep coming back. Not a long walk there but the parking is not marked. Easier to go off Google maps.

It's about a .75mi walk down to the waterfall area from parking. A beautiful little spot with some rocks you can climb around on
