Ancient Mariner Restaurant

I stopped at the ancient mariner to grab some fried clam strips to go. Folks running the place are very nice. The food was ready on time and delicious as expected because this place was recommended by people working in the area that I know. I will definitely be back here again in the future.

Love the Mariner. It’s that place you can always count on for good vibes, a warm welcome and consistency delicious food. Kind of like going home 💜 it’s also a staple of Ridgefield, I always take company visiting to check it out as the classic town spot

The wings here are so good! Our go to are the Buffalo wings and the Honey BBQ. The wings are always so hot, crunchy, and tasty. Because we like our wings saucy, we do ask for them to double sauce it which is so worth the extra request!

I can always count on The Ancient Mariner for great service, great atmosphere, and delicious food.
I typically get to come and enjoy this wonderful local watering hole on Monday evenings, when the incredible Nikki is bartending.
Highly recommend supporting this wonderful local spot whenever you are in Ridgefield.

Low expectations. Pleasantly shocked!!

This place is hidden in the strip mall behind Prime Burger. It’s hard to see from the road or even from the parking lot. The decor is old school so I wasn’t expecting much.

Ordered the Marriner Burger with potato salad and guacamole and chips. The burger was huge and perfectly cooked - actual medium rare! The bun had great texture and was lightly toasted. It was served with some sort of blue cheese sauce plus bacon and tomato. I am a burger aficionado and think this burger was delicious! It is way better than I expected, coming from a unassuming looking restaurant hidden at the back of a strip mall. The potato salad and guacamole and chips were yummy too.

I can’t wait to go back and sample the seafood. After all, this is billed as a “seafood restaurant”.

By the way, this is worlds better than the generic “mass-produced” but fancier-looking Prime Burger place in the same strip mall. This burger is homemade and made with care. I like it almost as much as the Mark Burger at the Mark Hotel in Manhattan (which is dressed with truffle sauce).

The only thing that I missed was french fries. It wasn’t one of the options I was offered. Not sure if it’s on the menu

I ordered the shrimp and expected to have a decent seafood lunch. I was blown away by how huge and juicy they were. Put that together with the perfectly battered onion rings I got for my side and this meal was so delicious.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Ancient Mariner tonight. We knew we were running late for dinner on a Sunday night and I called to find out when the kitchen was closing and they were nice enough to say that they would wait a few minutes for us knowing we were on our way. I had a delicious seared scallops dinner with the most wonderful sweet potato potato fries I've ever had and my friend had salmon on top of risotto and everything was absolutely marvelous including the service.

Ancient Mariner is the BEST. I love taking guests there because there is something for EVERYONE. The menu is diverse and always delicious. The environment is so cool, great vibes. The staff and the owner bring so much life and energy into the experience. It’s definitely my go-to for my family and guests 💜

Nice place for a bite to eat and a beer. We come here once in a while and the service. Has always been good with a nice selection of good food on the menu. Nothing fancy just good stuff in a casual atmosphere. I like the fact that they carry local beer from the brewery in town.

Awesome place. Went here for Easter brunch - Service was fantastic, and the appetizers/main courses incredible. We started with Oysters on the half shell and shared Antipasto with delicately fried Calamari and really fluffy, light crabcakes. Shrimp over a large bed of ice with impeccable cocktail sauce. Sourced locally, couldn't be better. Prime rib and line caught Halibut for entrees. Ambience is great and so close to the Bascule Bridge. Worth the drive and will be back soon. Tops all around..

Ncki, the bartender, is the best! The wedge salad with seared tuna is a must!! It was a slow night, but Nicki was extremely attentive and a pleasure to talk to. That alone was worth the trip.

This has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Ridgefield. The prices are reasonable and food has been consistently good throughout the years. The employees are friendly and helpful.

Best Philly Cheesesteak east of the Delaware River. (Philadelphia native here!)

Great food, nice staff and casual atmosphere. A very good value. I will definitely be back.
