I recently ordered wine through grapeswine.com and had a great experience. I had been looking for two specific wines I tasted at a restaurant. I found that both wines were particularly hard to find; in my searching, I stumbled across grapeswine.com; this company offered both labels at a great price. After my order was placed, I received an email from one of the account reps telling me that one of my selections was going to be delayed. I was given the option to wait or they would be happy to recommend a similar alternative. I was not in a hurry, so I opted to wait. The account rep communicated with me through the process of procuring the delayed wine. One of my choices continued to delay, so grapeswine.com offered to ship my partial order, while working with me to identify a replacement. The advisor selected 3 wines for me based on my preferences and shipped them quickly. My husband and I have tried two of the three so far and we both loved the wine picked by the advisor; we plan to order more. We also noted that the 3 replacements were of higher value than the original selection we ordered. Once the delayed wines arrive at grapeswine.com, I will be placing a new order for those bottles. I have seen some of the negative reviews and I definitely did not have the same experience. I was very happy with the service and the efforts to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase. If you are looking to purchase wines through this company, I would not hesitate. We are in the middle of building out our wine room in our home and will be using grapeswine.com to help us fill it with wine.

I ordered wine to be shipped from CT to California from their website. The website is very easy to navigate and to find what you are looking for. They shipped the product quickly and provided timely tracking information. I received the product in good condition. I will order from them again, as their prices are good and their customer service is even better.

The company try's to coordinate it the shipments with the weather to avoid spoilage. The customer services is really good. I live in Dallas, so shipping is a bit much, but since there are no sales taxes, you can offset the cost mentally. I am no longer buying wine off the internet, but if I was, I would go back to them.

Gotta give the 5 stars. A shipment showed up at our place in March with 9 out of 12 bottles frozen. It took a long time to get the bottles replaced but they got us a whole case instead of just 9 bottles. Took a while but covid is messing with logistics everywhere so can't blame Grapes.

I have purchased close to 20 cases of excellent wine from them and have enjoyed everything I have opened. They may not deliver in a week like some other discount sellers, but for something I will put in the cellar for a few years I can wait a few weeks. Overall John Caplan and Dave Sitar have been very responsive to my calls and have fulfilled my orders. The savings and selection are worth the wait.

Phone call with Nate Smith of Grapeswine

I wanted to write and edit for my review. I just got off the phone with Nate Smith who works for Grapeswine. This was an unprompted phone call this evening that I was not expecting. I can honestly say, it was welcomed I can actually attest that this is a REAL COMPANY with REAL WORKERS. Nate was so nice on the phone and took my feedback very well. I recommended to him that he and his company needed to patch things up with the purchasers that have been wronged during this period of transition. He informed me about the number of issues that they have had (changing personnel, warehouse issues, issues with distributors, etc) and that they were very overwhelmed (and the pandemic didn't help). I completely understand and I am glad he reached out to me.

I still recommend that they need to make changes:
1.) update the website with current pictures, information on wines, the mission of the company and bring the entire design of the website into the 21st century.
2.) update their Instagram/Facebook feed with current and up to date information promoting the company and the current selection they have.
3.) update and reply to the disgruntled reviewers on google and other websites.
4.) continue to reach out to customers who put orders in, inform them about what has been going on with the company this year and what they need to do to improve relationships with their customers.

This phone call went a long way with helping me trust Grapeswine with a future order. As I have said before, I did receive my wine but it definitely took this phone call to begin to trust this company with another order again. They have a great selection of wine and I would love to order again but I need more of these changes performed before I make this investment. I want American companies to succeed during this pandemic and I hope that this company can do just that.

Review of my order:

So this is going to be a weird review.

Let me start off by saying that I received my order and I received it within a month since placing the order online.

Here's the story. There were very specific wines I was looking for that this website provided and it provided these wines fairly discounted. I wasn't remotely concerned with my order or the legitimacy of the website (hence the reason why I purchased through Grapeswine.) The order went through and the money was quickly taken out of my account. However, after multiple weeks of checking my account and still seeing the status of my order as "processing." There were no other updates to my account and I was quickly concerned as to the status of my order.

Fast forward two weeks and I still had no update from the website to my account. My account to this day (after receiving my wine) still says "processing." I called during business hours twice and my call automatically went to voicemail which made me even more concerned. Finally, I went back to the website via Google and that is when I saw the reviews. Once I saw all of the negative reviews about individuals never receiving their orders, receiving their orders and it being in error, and monthlong ordeals, I knew I had to act quickly. I contacted my credit card company and told them about my situation and that I wanted this payment disputed. They acted quickly and provided me with a refund without any hassle. My other issue with Grapeswine is that there is no way to cancel the order, update your account and get a refund.

Fast forward another week and I received an email from Grapeswine stating that my order had been shipped. Huh? I thought it was fake but when I clicked the link, sure enough, an order was being shipped from the Bronx via UPS. Today, I received the package and I opened it with little confidence that my wine would be present but sure enough, every single bottle I ordered was there. It was in its proper packaging, no damage to the bottles whatsoever.

What can I say? I will say this. I will not be ordering another wine from Grapeswine.com. I do not believe in their business practices of not having someone during business hours ready to answer phone calls. Their website does not update and yet they immediately will charge your card for your order. Did they send my package because I got my credit card company involved early? Maybe. Would they have done it either way? I'm not sure. What I do know is that I will not order from a website whereby I cannot contact someone on the phone to confirm their inventory.

Here is my recommendation. Order AT YOUR OWN RISK. There are WAYYYY more negative reviews than positive reviews and that is a huge red flag for me. If you are going to order wine, make sure you order wine from an actual wine store/warehouse in the US and that you can get in contact with some before placing your order. A number of stores do not readily update their websites with their current inventory and therefore their website can be misleading as to what they have in their possession. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ORDERING "NICE" WINE/"EXPENSIVE WINE (anything over 50 dollars or more) please contact the seller to a.) confirm that they are real b.) that they have the inventory and c.) that their website is reputable. READ THE REVIEWS so that you are not scammed.

Overall, my rating is based on the fact that the wine that I ordered is presently in my possession and exactly what I ordered. As I have previously mentioned, I will not order from them again because I had to jump through many more hurdles than I wanted to in order to get this done.

Grapeswine, if you want to improve your rating, please adhere to my recommendations. People should know exactly how to get in contact with you, what the status of their wine order is, and be updated along the way. I appreciate my order but again, I will not be doing business with you.

The only easy part is when they take your money. When I called to order, I was advised they had 20+ cases of the wine I wanted on hand. After 2 weeks without shipping, I email asking where my order is. A week later I get a response stating my wine will not arrive to their shipping warehouse for another week, then I would be sent tracking. Two weeks later, no tracking, no replies, and now a disconnected phone number.

UPDATE:

Their phone did get turned back on and the order was eventually filled 2 months later after constantly having to check in.

Like reviews before me, I guess if time is on your side and you are in no rush, the pricing and selection is there.
