Kawa Ni

Kawa Ni in Westport delivered on its inventive and creative Japanese cuisine. We started off with the Kani salad, chicken karrage, and crab dumplings. The salad was beautifully balanced with mango and a hint of mint. The chicken was tender and yet crispy on the outside and the crab dumplings were light flavorful and had the perfect delicate balance of crab in a crispy light fried wrapper. The Szechuan dumplings with shrimp were a hit - spicy and flavorful, delicate in texture. The salmon temaki was a unique experience with everything seasoning. It was definitely the highlight of our meal. Highly recommend you make a ressie and check this place out!

No doubt I’ll be back! Kawa Ni was the perfect lunch spot for a refreshingly delicious bite. The salmon temaki couldn’t be any fresher. Their take on crab ragoons left me speechless and I wished I had ordered them too! My main course was the Dan Dan noodles and I couldn’t believe how delicious the lamb was. This is will my spot any and every time I’m in the area.

What a wonderful place! Excellent service and the food was delicious. They have a nice variety of sake. We were sat at the bar, the bartenders were friendly and you could tell they put great effort in creating and delivering their drinks.

Loved the food and service here. Every dish we had was tasty, and the staff was very friendly. Our favorite dishes were the addicting cabbage, and crab fried rice. We’ll definitely be back!

Delicious! Fun take on japanese food with some other Asian influences. Got the crab Rangoon, confit ribs, chicken wings, scallop nigiri, and trout mazemen. All were yummy.

Cute and comfy Izakaya style place! Chicken Karaage, Szechuan Dumplings, and Bahn Mi are delicious! As are the drinks. Excellent service too!

Owen, the GM, is a fantastic guy. Took great care of us, and it was clear he cared deeply for the establishment and for the customers dining in.

Our service was great, the food was amazing, and we will definitely go back (and we recommend Kawa Ni to a lot of folks by word of mouth because we had such a great experience).

I have ordered 90% of the menu and have never once been disappointed. I would consider this to be one of the best craft Asian restaurants in Westport. The staff and chefs know the food and drinks to easily match your preferred taste at and the bartender will either whip up a drink or provide a tasting of saki so you do not order something you don't want to enjoy. I personally order 4 apps for my entire meal (2 for appetizer, 2 for entree) as I have serious fomo if I only order an 1 entree. Everything is so good. The atmosphere is amazing as well. Make sure to visit in the warmer months when the rooftop overlooking the river is open!

As close to an Izakaya as you'll get in this neck of the woods.
The menu is diverse, and the drinks even more so (if you're into Scotch, they have All The Scotch), with a quite decent selection of sake to boot.

The food is quite HappyMaking, and very eclecticThe "main dishes" are really quite good, but for my money you're best off going with the "small bites" - they're ideal to munch on inbetween drinks (or with drinks, for that matter!). Don't miss out on the cucumber salad, and/or the roast potatoes, they're frightfully good!

And yeah, the staff is appropriately friendly, and quite happy to chat. So yeah, go, sit at the bar, and have a fun few hours!

Food was delicious. Drinks were made deliciously as well. Loving the vibe/ the candlelight/soothing music/the ambience! A really nice place for a date night!

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were all top notch. I’d take the ferry from Long Island just to eat here again.

Loved the delicious dishes at Kawa Ni. A small Japanese restaurant with an unique character. No, it is not a sushi and sashimi place. It is a Izakaya Japanese Pub. Hamachi Sashimi -- 4 pieces of Sashimi: Fresh and delicious. Duck & Truffle Nigiri -- Fried sushi rice topped with a smoked duck slice, 4 pieces: crispy and tasty, duck was just right with fantastic sauce. Crab fried rice -- with bacon & egg: fried just right with flavor of bacon and egg infused, nicely done. Also recommend a pot of hot tea to go with it.

A terrific take on Japanese bar food! Always new things to try! The summer balcony adds another dimension although the food is served on paper plates on the balcony; but it is just as good! Great craft cocktails! The menu is always updated with new items to tantalize your taste buds - never boring! Don't miss out on the shaved broccoli! A must try if you are in Westport!

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Fairfield County. Love the variety of specials and the food is always delicious. The tofu pockets are a must try!

We were lucky enough to be in a large party that shared a lot of plates, so I was able to taste most of the menu. Which I can tell you was well worth it. Everything I tried was delicious bite after delicious bite. My personal favorites were the Chicken Karaage and Mushroom Dashi. Service was 💯. Had a great time thank you!

Me and my partner loved it, we are vegetarian and the options were like no other place I've ever eaten before, definitely recommend.

It was my second time at Kawa Ni. The memory of the flavors was still lingering in my mind and I was in the mood for something delicious and exotic. My son and I went there and had to sit on the bar, because the place was full. We ordered some Shaved Broccoli and some Pork Dumplings for appetizers and I ordered a nice cup of Suntory Hibiki Whisky. For dinner we ordered the absolutely scrumptious Karaage don. Please order that, you can thank me later!!
