Cute little Shanty by the Sound. I really liked the ice cream. They have a soft serve machine that makes 24 ice cream flavors and you can add candy or mixtures in it like a Blizzard.

The restaurant was a cute like shanty with outdoor sitting under a canopy. We ordered rhe lobster roll. The lobster roll meat wasn't the best but it's been a long time since my husband had the roll anywhere.

It seemed a little chewy but it was my first time having a roll or possibly lobster. Cole slaw was decent. The bread was good. Fries were thinner than string fries but had a crispy taste.

Cost wise the ice cream was a superb deal. Great price and a lot of ice cream and candy filling. Can't go wrong here for ice cream.

Didn't know how expensive lobster was until this sandwich. The sandwich is priced by market for lobster 🦞.

The food was fairly priced. The employees were helpful, food was fantastic! You can tell how much the owner cares about his business and how well his employees are treated. Everything was fantastic. What a great spot to stop for lunch and ice cream!! Will definitely be back!

We were trying to find a spot to eat after the beach and decided to come here. Definitely it was worth it. My family loved the food, it was fresh and beautiful views to enjoy.

Simple river-side spot - no frills (service or food) but nice for a hot summer afternoon or evening. The type of place where orders are called over the loud speaker. I did not try the lobster roll (today’s market price of $25 deterred) but will definitely be back for it at some point. Can’t get enough of the views and the atmosphere

Stopped by looking for fried clams. Prices were a touch high but was really good. Fried clams were decent and the clam chowder was really good and the service was great, the cashier was super friendly. Had a milkshake too which was pretty good, cool that you can mix flavors.

Great location after a day of fishing on the Klondike IX. It's your burger and fries, a Coney Island-style eatery. We were a party of three and had an assortment of food items. The overall consensus was, for the money and location it was a 5*. The guy waiting on us and the food coming out promptly was great. You could face the water from the tables and get great views and there is a public restroom nearby to freshen up. I will repeat when I'm in the neighborhood, aka, Klondike IX which will be soon.

I got a good size order of scallops. The price was very reasonable and they were delicious. I wish they would make their own tarter sauce otherwise it was perfect.

Under new management and better than ever! Friendly efficient staff! Now open all year...and prices are very reasonable. Go next door for ice cream, they own that too. More delicious ice cream for your $, than anywhere! Clam strips are my favorite.

What a wonderful spot to enjoy fresh seafood. Beautiful views and tasty foods served with a smile. And with the added bonus that now we can enjoy Fred's year-round!❤

Don't sleep on this place for a quick bite. Classic seaside burger shack. good prices good food, staff is amazing

Gotta love Fred’s Shanty! Pizza great, ice cream soft serve or hard in a million flavours. Everyone loves the calamari and clam strips! Just a great summer snack shake. Oh and dog friendly! Outside dining.

This place is right next to a harbor. The seating is for outside only, but the scenery is great. Parker was great at taking our order. He was very friendly and patient. He made our dining experience a very pleasant one.

What can I say, its been a favorite spot since childhood, I believe its under new management now but that hasn't stopped Fred's from continuing to be a fantastic summer spot, I only recently found out it was open year round now which makes living in the local area all the more better. The Chilly dogs are awesome! the shoestring fries are delicious and the addition of newer menu items is refreshing. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good lunch or dinner.

We went to Fred Shanty Restaurant as an end to our mini vacation. Fabion (sorry if I spelt the name wrong) provided Excellent Customer Service! He paid attention to our conversation and then made recommendations to what we actually wanted and needed!! Thank-you soooo much for your help!

Food was Delicious as well as reasonably priced! The view of the Thames River was nice and relaxing to end our vacation! Thank-you!

By far one of most favorite places to eat at when in the area!! You honestly can't go wrong with ANYTHING you order!! Not to mention we always have a pleasant interaction with all the staff!

Loved our food experience at Fred’s shanty. It’s nice to be able to sit outdoors and enjoy some good local seafood during these pandemic times. Great efficient service, great seafood particularly the fish and chips which was lightly buttered and not greasy.
