Sunrise Cafe NL

I am traveling alone for work and am back it CT. I was warmly welcomed and offered to sit at the counter. There were some empty tables and I asked if I could sit at a table. I understand that being the weekend those are reserved for larger parties. However, I was allowed to sit at a table, and proceeded to place my order. I ordered the #2 which came with two eggs, toast, home fries and a choice of meat.
The eggs were perfectly cooked to order. The home fries were flavorful and I decided to forgo the ketchup (which I have used at other establishments in order to give the home fries flavor). The cinnamon raisin toast was perfect. The bacon was crispy. If you are in New London sometime you will not be disappointed if you stopped here for brunch.

Needed a quick bite on Thanksgiving day before catching the ferry. This looks like a typical breakfast diner, but it's so much more. The have the traditional breakfast and sandwich fare, but they also have authentic delicious Peruvian food. The Peruvian low mein, and the tamalas were delicious. Be sure to try the special homemade hot sauce. You will not be disappointed.

Had dinner at a private event here,
Luis our server/bartender managed to give all 16 of us top notch customer service, tripping over himself to accommodate all of us between taking orders, making drinks, topping off waters, with a smile on his face.
It took a little while to get all of the dishes out but that is to be expected when 16 orders go in at the same time.
The food was fantastic all around, I was envious of the guy sitting across from me who ordered the ceviche, it looked incredible and Immediately regretted not ordering it.
Not being super hungry I ordered a salad (which was fresh and exactly what I wanted)
It says a lot about a place to get a 5 star review from me based solely off the service, a salad, and the reactions of the people around me.
It's amazing that after years of being open the quality has never changed

It’s one lady doing almost everything except cook. Probably the best empanada I’ve had. The soup was great too

**Feedback:**
The only minor note I have is the absence of gravy for the homemade mashed potatoes. While the potatoes were delicious on their own, a savory gravy would have been the icing on the cake.

Ample parking immediately outside in pay and display lot requiring vehicle registration input to obtain ticket.
Bright and eye-catching exterior to the cafe that appears popular with local trade.
Area is quite run down with demolition of adjacent buildings in progress. Some have large murals to hide the dilapidation.
Menu selection is extensive and cooked to order. A wait may be in order.

#14 with French toast is banging. It was 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and pancakes or French toast. I picked the French toast and sunny side up eggs. Best combination I’ve ever had. Before she reached the table I smelled the wafting cinnamon and sugar from the French toast permeating the air. I scooped a pat of butter into the crispy fried potato.As I placed the egg on top of the hash brown and punctured the yellow center (a perfectly fried egg not brown or with scorch marks just a soft white and yellow egg.) the bright yellow and orange center dribbled down the sides of the perfectly crisp potato and created that perfect bite. I’ve never been so simply satisfied in my life.

Food was very good. Friendly atmosphere. Louis was awesome.
A hidden gem for breakfast and lunch.

I personally loves this place. Louis was very courteous and attentive.
I left him more than a 20% tip and paid with cash.

The food was very good and fresh.

The quality of the ingredients matched the cost of living in this quiet obscure whaling village.

Our blessing was getting there really early about 9:30am on a Tuesday.

This place screams NEW LONDON.

I did feel a bit out of place a bit with judging eyes by a critical local.

A delicious chicharron sandwich, crispy and juicy in all the right ways. Pickled red onion that really added to the sandwich...plus the waitress gave me an earthy, and spicy sauce to enjoy with it. I love spicy, and it made me sweat, but thoroughly enjoyable. 10/5 stars

If you are hungry come HERE. The amount of food was out of this world. Cooked to perfection as well. The pancakes are thick and massive! The waitress was taking care of the entire restaurant solo! And was amazing at it! Excellent location to walk around and enjoy the sites as well. Great parking too.

I had the Chicharone Sandwich, which I highly recommend 👌 everyone else had omletts, which were excellent!

I got the calamari with fries and mashed potatoes. My husband got the corn beef Hash. I'm here to tell you all the potato items we had were amazing. Definitely recommend. Perfectly crispy fries, creamy mashed potatoes, delicious Hash and really good potato halves. The staff were also really nice. I felt like the extended family you try and impress; and I am impressed.

It's a great little hole in the wall and the food is amazing!
