The Cornerstone Suites

This place is beautiful. I had no idea this gem was hidden in plain sight in Lake City. Every room is themed for a different artist and is impeccably decorated. The owners told me that most of the furniture is hand made. The furnishings are soft and well maintained. The whole place is so clean and you can tell that it is well cared for - zero signs of age or wear. I got to tour all of the rooms and they are all quite spacious - most of them have nice sitting areas. They all have nice, full , private bathrooms. Being able to book the rooms online is also a great perk for such a small town. I will definitely be recommending this place to anyone I know who needs a place to stay when they come to the area.

We have stayed at Cornerstone in Lake City, IA many times. It’s a great location and the rooms are in excellent condition. It’s nice staying where the money stays in the local community. Very fun little local theater across the street with $2 movies on Saturdays. A breakfast place is just around the corner. A drive in restaurant in not far down the road. The owner has always been so kind and responsive if we have any needs. I hope you will come stay and enjoy the treasure of a hotel and town!

Clean, simple, and very affordable! I was in the Grant Wood room - large room with well made furniture and Grant Wood art on the walls. It threw me at first with the lock box to get the key, but it really worked very smoothly. I would definitely stay here again!

One heads up though, if you can't take stairs, make sure you get a 1st floor room. It wasn't a problem for me, but it could surprise some.

Stayed over night for surgery in the morning. every thing was great. My only problem was bed was way to firm for a broken body and the stairs. Wish it had showed which rooms were on ground floor. All in all great value and comfy relaxing

This is a very charming hotel. Each room is themed on a famous artist. The room has that artist's art on the wall with a book about the person on the night stand. This is a wonderfully-renevated older building that is full of charm and character. It's a little off the well-trodden path but worth a stay. I met the owner and she was a wonderful person to talk to.

The Cornerstone Suites is absolutely the most unique place! Themed rooms add a homey touch. Very clean!! The "Innkeeper" gave us a tour of the rooms. We chose the Hopper 2 room as we felt that bed would best accommodate our back problems. It was softer than the beds in the other rooms. The "Innkeeper" was a delight to visit with! She gave us history on the building that was interesting. We will definitely stay here again!!

I travel for a living and stay in many different hotels and the like; these are by far the cleanest rooms I've ever seen. It's incredible! I couldn't find dust anywhere. You can tell the proprietors have a lot of love for these Suites. I really enjoyed my stay!

We loved the Grant Wood room, beautiful country modern. A pristine room, reasonable price for the small community, very clean. A comfortable bed with extra pillows in the room. Would definitely stay again.

What a great place to stay! My sister and I stayed there, it was very nice. We enjoyed Lake City, a tiny piece of the USA. We went to the library and the quilt store...we will stop and stay again.

Fantastic glimpse of midwest history and hospitality. If you are looking for a place to stay within 30 minutes of Lake City, Iowa, there is no reason to stay anywhere but Cornerstone Suites.

This little hotel is a DIAMOND in the rough. What an awesome hotel. The room is spacious and nice. I have nothing negative to say!!!! Judy was so nice to deal with!!!!

Very nice, big, and clean rooms. I like the themes to the rooms. Very nice especially for a small town motel!

The rooms are very nice, done in a style of an Iowa artist. No microwave is my only complaint.
