Wandering Vine at the Castle

We went for brunch on a Sunday to celebrate my sister’s birthday. The food was divine. In our group people had the eggs, potatoes, waffles, coffee, biscuits with homemade jam (peaches with a hint of cinnamon), bacon, mimosas, and coffee. It was all delicious!

I wanted to check out the place and so they took me around showing off each level and giving me insight into the building history. I can’t wait to go go back for flights of wine!

My sister, is in a wheelchair and they made sure to make sure everything was set up for us and it was comfortable. We’ve been to other restaurants that are not as accommodating or aware of the needs of those in chairs so this was refreshing! There was a sweet family with a baby next to us and a little girl celebrating a young birthday with her family. It was upscale and friendly. I loved it and will absolutely be going back! Our waitress, Randy, was attentive and personable without being overbearing and overwhelming.

Second time we have come here for brunch since they opened. Lovely restaurant with a great staff and terrific owners who really care about sincerity with their customers. My husband and I split their fresh cinnamon roll...highly recommend! The quiche today for lunch was fantastic. So hearty I took the second half home. Will try to always stop by on our way home to Wichita if we are visiting the KC area

We thought it was very good and prices weren't exorbitant. My scallops were very good though thought the slices of fruit included were a bit odd. My wife's steak was very good as well with a few very peppery bites. We'll be back sometime.

Following a show at Aztec, it made perfect sense to return here with my wife and parents. They never disappoint. Lovely atmosphere, always very friendly staff, and beautiful food. I enjoyed the lobster bisque but was especially blown away by the lobster pasta. Wandering Vine’s chef is truly creative and I greatly admire her colorful original plating.

My parents enjoyed Wandering Vine so much that we were all excited to go back when they were in town over the weekend. Funny enough, we ate at the same table where we sat last time. This place certainly has a unique charm to it, with a nice atmosphere that you won't quite find anywhere else. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and our service was wonderful. I had the braised lamb shoulder pasta. It was cooked to perfection and the flavors were fantastic. The toasted pine nuts were a nice touch. The only thing I would have changed is substituting the edamame for something else. It added nice color, but it was a little too much crunch for my taste. My wife had the special, which was goat cheese cavatelli pasta with crab meat. Absolutely delicious. My dad enjoyed the filet mignon and we all enjoyed our wine flights--one of my favorite things about this restaurant. Mine included wines from Argentina, France, and Washington. We didn't save room for dessert, but we did get a taste of the gazpacho, which was very flavorful with a nice kick to it. They are rotating their menu in a few weeks, so definitely reason to return.

Had dinner here with my wife and parents and we LOVED it. Sometimes it can be hard to find a place that satisfies both of my parents but we all thought the food was delicious and original. The staff was extremely friendly and professional as well. The place itself is quite unique too and I would recommend it for a nice romantic dinner. We can't wait to go back.

I really wanted to give the Caenen Castle restaurant 4 stars but couldn’t do it. Food was great, service was perfect, and the atmosphere fun.

The hostess was the Castle owner and really friendly. Then came the waiter who was perfectly on top of his game! New what to recommend and didn’t skip a beat.

The food:
- Great chicken potpie… flakey if you’re into it
- Table loved the fish
- Get the grilled peach salad! It’s a must!
- Wine flights were fun as it’ll give you just enough to try three wines

Don’t expect this to be a large whimsical castle and instead a large house made in 1907 in the shape of castle.

Yes, I would recommend going but don’t anticipate returning for another round.

I had the breakfast quiche during brunch (not pictured) and it was easily the best quiche I’ve ever had in my life. Lots of seasonal brunch cocktails and curated wine flights. The atmosphere is unbeatable, beautifully decorated for the season and so quaint and cozy. I cannot wait to come back!

Great experience! Favorite place in Kansas City after visiting for 3 years. Food great! People great! And, eating in a castle. Will be coming back to my favorite place from now on

When first arriving at the magical castle I noticed a glowing ambiance & it took me back to medieval times! There is parking up front and plenty more in the back as well. When you first enter the castle you are transported in time and the decor is fabulous! Our party of 6 was promptly greeted and seated outside according to our reservation. Our server, Mark was extremely knowledgeable of the entire menu & wine list. I highly recommend starting with the grilled street corn dip that was bursting with flavors of elote. I also recommend getting their ever changing bread service (we had rosemary focaccia). For my main entree I ordered the fresh cheese ravioli, which was the best ravioli I’ve ever tried. Hannah, the talented executive chef came out to our table to make sure everyone was pleased with their meals. We were more than happy with the service, presentation, & flavors through out the entirety of our experience. I highly recommend coming here for any special occasion, as the staff here will do their best to make you feel comfortable and taken care of.

Went to the wandering vine castle 4/26 for fiancés birthday & it was amazing!! We accidentally walked through the front door which was very awkward but I’m sure it happens 😅 (sorry again!) The crab bite appetizer was phenomenal as well as the soup of the day (asparagus and crab). I’m a huge soup fan and it was wonderful (light/refreshing/filling). Crab bites were great and the wine had a top tier selection. Plating/dishwear was very thoughtful and beautiful, service was great, ambience was amazing it’s very comfortable yet special which is hard to achieve. Owners were kind and caring and you can tell have a heart for their business which is so great. Keep doing you wandering vine 🙌🏼

Sunday Brunch Date! Everything we experienced was wonderful! We were promptly greeted, seated, and served. The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is unique and delicious, and the service was delightful. Highly recommended and we will be back again.

Went there for brunch, the place is gorgeous. The staff are super inviting and friendly our server was great the owner even came over and was very kind. The food was also top notch the eggs Benedict were amazing. Everything you could want and more from brunch. I'll definitely be coming back for dinner soon. I'll add the mushroom toast on the brunch menu currently is amazing.

New to the area and dined here for our anniversary. Read so many positive reviews and our experience exceeded them all. The ambiance, service, unique menu selections, wine and cocktail options, and even live music the evening of our visit.

I can’t even determine my favorite part of the experience as everything was amazing. The focaccia bread, soup, salad, entrees and desert. I had the scallops and my wife had the halibut. Perfectly prepared and paired with vegetables. Truly wanted to take the chef and kitchen staff home with us!

Cannot believe that this gem exists in Shawnee. My wife and I give it the highest possible recommendation…AND it was a great value!

1st..the place is absolutely gorgeous. Both of the owners Dan & Carla came to our table, talked about the history, and made us feel so welcomed. Our server Randi (sp?) was a dynamo! Our food was exquisite. And Carla's end of meal presentation was the cherry on top. If you're looking for the perfect date night, look no further!

Visiting from out of town and stopped in for appetizers, dessert, and a wine flight. So glad we added this to our itinerary. The food was simply delectable, best I’ve had in years. The quality and service exceeded our expectations ten fold. Further, the prices were surprisingly palatable for such an exceptional meal. Anytime we’re back in town, this is a must for us.

A beautiful setting and great service. A very good wine selection and a knowledgeable staff to help you pick the right wine.
The service was spot on and the owners are very friendly and there to make sure you feel welcome.

The bread appetizer and the lobster bisque were both a hit with our table. For my entree, I had the burger with fries which good.

To sum up, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. In addition to being an upscale dining destination, it would be a great place for your office or family parties.

My husband and I stumbled across this place while trying to find a place to go for our anniversary. We made same day Friday night reservations through Open Table. The food and atmosphere are hard to beat here. The building is beautiful and unique, and the food was delicious. They even brought us out flowers in a vase we could take home for our anniversary. It was expensive, but the whole experience is worth the price, especially for a special occasion.

This restaurant is so beautiful! Such a hidden little gem. I ate here for the first time this week and the food is SUPERB. The executive chef, Hannah, is such a doll and you can taste the passion she puts in her food. everything was a 10/10 and i will be back!

I will give this place a good review on every platform! We loved it. The building is beautiful, the food was delicious, and they were very hospitable. The owners are husband and wife and she came by the table and said hello and talked for a moment, it was neat to be able to talk to her. We will absolutely be back!

There truly are no words to describe what an amazing experience we had at this incredible place.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at The Castle, and to say the food was great is the understatement of the century!!! It literally was the best meal either of us have had, and I’m a fat guy, so trust me I’ve had a buuuuunch of great meals!!! Lol Every bite was truly an experience!!!
Not only was the food phenomenal, but Mrs. Carla, the owner is just a jewel of a human being. She absolutely could not have been more kind and gracious to us. She told us the history of the building, which was fascinating, and not only that, she took my wife and I around to several different spots around the castle and took our picture so we’d always remember what a special night it was. I’d leave a million star review if I could, as this place deserves to be recognized as the Diamond that it is!!! It’s a must for anybody looking to have an all around night you’ll remember the rest of your life!!! Thank you Mrs. Carla, and Mark our server who did a fantastic job as well, we will be back!!!
