Pros:
1) Very tasty fried jalapeño and pickle appetizer - jalapeños not too spicy and pickles were kosher
2) Excellent club quesadilla (it’s even a double decker) - delicious and filled with ingredients
3) Cajun French Fries also excellent in flavor and masterfully cooked - thick crunchiness on the exterior and soft potato in the interior
4) Sauces that came with the fried pickles and quesadilla also very tasty

Cons:
1) The fried fish had a nice exterior, but overall is most aptly described as a “big ole flavor void” - the fish itself had absolutely no flavor at all. This might be a positive for those who hate fish flavor, but I expect at least something. The batter itself was also worse on the fish than on the fries and fried jalapeños/pickles
2) Service was about twice as slow as what your expect from a restaurant

Let me guess, your reading this review because you, for some reason, haven’t eaten here yet and are trying to decide if this place will satisfy your hunger. Well let me start by saying your search is over and you have definitely got to give this place a try! My wife, son, and I came here after checking out the menu online while we were in the area and decided to give it a go, now let me tell you the tale of what happened next...we were sat and promptly greeted by our server Veronica who just so happens to live down the road from us and right from the jump was warm and welcoming. She was extremely polite and even took the time to converse with our 5 yr old at length(“his new friend”). She made some recommendations and suggestions that all really panned out well and we had caught the tail end of happy hour which she brought to our attention prompting us to buy an extra app due to the happy hour deals and it being our first time. Now for our culinary tale of our wondrous feast...to start we went with the fried avocado slices and two sets of 6 wings one with Buffalo and the other with Asian fusion whiskey sauce. As you can see in the pictures one wing was sniped before the click of the camera, I couldn’t resist. The wings were positively delightful! Very easy to strip off the bone unlike the occasional chewing I find myself doing at the chain wing spots. And the avocado slices fried to a golden crisp just like the heavens intended...yes please and I’ll have another!! My wife and I stopped short of an intense round of thumb wrestling for the last one, didn’t want to set a bad example for the little one. Make sure to dip these slices in the sauce, it’s next level! The next stop in our culinary journey was the main event. I had the chicken Marsala with both sweet potato and the Cajun fries so I could compare the two, my boy had the kids burger and fries (yes it came with two slider type burgers as seen) and the wifey had the Shepard’s pot roast. Ok so to start my boy enjoyed his burgers so much he told Veronica “this is better than our favorite burger place” big word and review from a 5 yr old! As for the Marsala...the angels have blessed this dish with an amazingly balanced flavor and I know, look at my last name. I tend to avoid Italian restaurants lately as the food ends up heavy and overly sauced and not like my grandmas but this Marsala was outstanding. A light yet delicious breading on the chicken and a Marsala sauce that wasn’t overly dense and more so glazed the chicken and some of the fries, an added benefit. The sweet potato fries were really good and the Cajun fries, man the crispiness and taste was out of this world. The entirety of the dish was perfect, with the best part being the left over Marsala sauce to dip my fries in after the chicken went down the hatch. On to my wife’s selection. A beautiful mound of glorious garlic mashed potatoes topped with crispy onion string surrounded by a river of beef and veggies and broth. It was a wonderful interpretation of a Shepard’s pie that my wife couldn’t resist taking bite after bite and not wanting to speak with me throughout this part of the meal....may also have been the fact I got the last avocado slice 😉. When she finally came up for air she raved about where she had just been emotionally which was clearly a distant place of tastebud ecstasy. The two of us couldn’t spare room for desert but our little guy had worms and dirt come with his meal that he just devoured like a good five year old would! Overall the service was phenomenal, in fact better than that and I truly appreciated that more than the food. As for the food do yourself the favor and experience it for yourself. We will be back Again without a doubt and maybe we will see you there...just look for the five year old trying to wake his parents up from their food comas in one of the booths!

We have been in twice and today we had the brunch. Biscuits and Gravy with Jalapeño sausage gravy, breakfast potatoes and bacon. 1000% recommended! The gravy and biscuits have amazing flavor without the 🔥! Gorgeous locally owned establishment and the owners are so polite and run a great place!

New and locally owned. Unique menu items and everyone in our party enjoyed their food. Was busy when we got there at 7 on a Saturday but we didn't have to wait long. Service was a little slow but that's to be expected with a new place. Only complaint was the side order of onion rings included only six onion rings. I would think since it was a premium side it might be a bigger portion.

I rarely update reviews but now that I have been to Tabard's multiple times I wanted to say this place should be on everyone's list.

The menu is eclectic and changes regularly. I also like the fact that I've never once been there and not interacted with the owner. Truly a local establishment.

Where to start! The food is excellent, the atmosphere lively, and the owner friendly. We've been there multiple times and each time they hit it out if the park. Tonight's adventure started with an old fashion and margarita. Both were strong, but tasty. The Italian Marsala Sliders were... AH-MAY-ZING! Honestly, this appetizer could be converted in to a single burger entree. It's fantastic! The lady went with the Cajun crawfish and andouille pasta. I snuck a little bit and it has a creamy sauce with a nice kick. The crawfish and sausage we're cooked perfectly! I ended up with their taco salad with steak. You get a big taco shell bowl loaded full with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked steak. It is complimented with an excellent salsa and dressing. If you haven't been, make sure you stop in! Haven't had a bad meal yet!

Friendly environment with excellent customer service. There were some issues with my food order, however, everything I had tasted was wonderful. The head chef and waitress made me feel welcome and taken care of.

One of the best outdoor patios in the city ! I absolutely love this place. I drive from North KC just to eat! The food is phenomenal and the service is always above and beyond. My favorite thing on the menu is the Hawaiian Ribeye and I absolutely love the strawberry limeade cider. You really can’t go wrong with anything that you choose on the menu !

Update: April 2021. Food is the main draw for us. It's absolutely delicious. From wings to fish and chips to salads to ribeyes, it's all fricking good. Decent beer remains in rotation.

Update: June 2019. Beer variety is increasing, takeover events are on the calendar, and this place is becoming a consistent consideration.

Original review: Great eats, decent beer selection. Definitely worth a visit. Would like to see more craft beer rotation.

We love to try new places we have never been and we drove 30 miles to get there and it definitely did not disappoint! Food was amazing and fresh and the drinks were so great! One of the owners even came to our table today and introduced herself and the entire staff was so friendly. I got the French dip which I have ordered just about every were and hands down this was the best one. I also got the white truffle fries, too great not to have again. If u haven't tried this place you need too!

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now - and they did not disappoint! So good. Friendly staff, welcoming environment and delicious meals! Have been here twice, both excellent. The PB&J Burger is an unusual pick for me but it has been fantastic both times. The regular Cajun fries are also a great pick. You can't go wrong, the menu is diverse and excellent.

Our dinner club met here and we had a great experience. They have a patio, booths throughout the bar/main area, a small room where you can have a private party of about 20, and then the larger room can do a much bigger private party if needed. Jesse provided great service. The food was great! Their Greek salad is plentiful with kalamatas and feta. The chicken marsala, pork chop, and shrimp dinner were all very tasty. I particularly liked that the squash served on the side was all dente and not mush. And I can't forget to mention I was able to try a new beer thanks to their selection.

Stopped in for Sunday Brunch. Service was quick and very friendly. We ordered from the brunch menu as well as the regular menu. Burgers were juicy and flavorful. Sweet potato fries were done just right. Kids ordered the french toast and cinnamon roll pancakes. Both were very tasty. Big portions, so you get what you pay for. 4 of the 6 of us took home left overs. Decor included paintings and mixed media pieces that were also for sale. We were able to look at some of the works as we waited for our meals. We're not usually in this part of town, so it was a real treat. Will definitely stop in again in the future.
