Family Pet Hospital Of Shawnee

So I am not a client of theirs anymore. I left Shawnee last summer. I enjoyed them the few times I brought my cats to them while I lived in Shawnee. Unfortunately, one of my cats passed away last October due to a blockage. I wanted to confront/question the vets who worked on him (where I live), so I spoke with the vets here to get some insight before doing so. They were extremely understanding and answered every question I had to the best of their ability (without seeing the situation themselves). I received a sympathy card in the mail a week or two later. I did not expect this as I'm no longer a client of theirs. It was a very sweet thing to do and as I am still grieving the loss of my cat, the letter with handwritten sympathies from various staff there made me feel happier and like they genuinely cared. I wish I could still see them as my primary vet for my other cat, but I just don't live in the Johnson County area anymore. I've attached a picture of my boy that passed that you guys had seen a few times. What you guys did really meant a lot to me and makes you guys stand out significantly from every other vet I've been to. Thank you again

Recently lost my dog I came here with my dog dying on my arms they fully accepted me in even tho my little son didn’t make it these people are really thoughtful and care about helping your little members thank you for the letter this really means a lot as I didn’t handle his loss well but I for real appreciate you guys for being caring and understanding. You guys go above and beyond❤

We've taken our dogs to them for years now. They saved our dog's life when she got septic. Good people, they know what they're doing, and try to work things out when money's tight.

I've been taking my Great Dane here for a couple years now and I am so thankful for everyone at Family Pet Hospital! My 150 pound lap dog is scared of everything and everyone, but everyone from the front desk to the techs and vets, handle him so well! They are extremely patient and so loving with him. They genuinely care about his overall health and never try to over sell me anything. I recommend this office to anyone looking for a great vets office experience.

We've worked with Dr. Scott for many years (through the lives of three animals) and been very satisfied with her as a vet. From a pet health perspective, she's extremely thorough.

When facing tough choices, she is an educator, explaining issues, offering avenues forward, providing possible up front costs and helping owners understand possible outcomes/knowledge that can be gained from various tests. She never pushes owners in a direction, but provides options.

Dr. Scott has an excellent bedside manner with both pets and their owners. She is the most compassionate vet we have ever worked with. Highly recommend.

I've been fortunate enough to have visited Dr. Scott for several years and am so thankful for her and her staff. My little guy Rocco has a chronic eye condition. Every time we've seen Dr. Scott she's been nothing but kind, compassionate, and professional. You can tell that she genuinely cares about each critter she encounters.

Oh my goodness, I cannot thank them enough for how well they treat my puppy boy. Normally dogs are scared to go to the vet, well, not my dog. Loves coming to this place.

I cannot say enough good things about this clinic! After YEARS of searching, we finally found a clinic that provides the type of care our dogs deserve. I have a dog that doesn’t do well with the vet. He doesn’t bite, but will flail around and hurt himself during even a simple exam. The vet spent over an hour sitting on the ground waiting for my dog to come near her and taking things at his pace. They took the time to go over all of our concerns. I left in tears because I was so thankful to the staff for their kindness and patience. We will never go anywhere else for our animals care!

Kind and helpful staff from the front desk to the exam room. FPHoS took the time to listen to our concerns and worked with us to identify and manage a health concern with my pup that my previous vet got frustrated with and gave up on. They worked with me to understand my options with my pet insurance to help recoup the costs. Even since fully switching to them fully about a year and a half ago, they still inform me of new medications or strategies to help improve my pets quality of life with their life long conditions. Forever grateful for never giving up on me or my pets who were given up by vets before them!

We had to take our cat Scout in because she has been having issues which had us very concerned. Everyone in the office at Family Pet Hospital in Shawnee is so friendly and knowledgeable. After the exam and running different tests we were notified within 24 hours what the trouble was and a Rx was prescribed. Dr McDermott was so caring and answered all our questions. We will recommend them to everyone. Thanks again to everyone for easing our minds and more importantly for making Scout feel loved and feel well again.

Dr. Scott deserves more than 5 stars! I'd give her 10 if they'd let me! I trust her 100% to help guide me to make the best decisions for my pet. The level of compassion and care from the entire staff is what all small businesses should strive for.

They are amazing!! We take our Bengal cats there for everything. The vet is very sweet, caring and knows her stuff!! Thank you for everything you've done for our kitties!! And kittens!!

We switched to FPHS right when COVID started. We weren’t sure how our fur kids would do with the change of vet plus the new rules to protect everyone’s health. They did great and loved the entire team. Since we’ve had a few experiences of cancer scares (it wasn’t fortunately) and multiple teeth removed. The doctors have always been kind, truthful, and yet optimistic while also realistic. Drs. Scott and McDernott are truthful wonderful and you can tell care about your pet family. If you’re looking for a vet in the area, completely recommend them!

I cannot recommend a veterinary clinic in the Kansas City metro area more than FPHS. We recently rescued and a pup and he hasn’t warmed up to meeting new people yet. The staff, especially Morgan know exactly how to work with him and put him at ease we make a visit. It’s easy to see the commitment and doctors and the staff have for what they do.

I’ve been being my dogs here since 2021 when I moved to Shawnee and the staff of FPHS is TOP TIER. My youngest pup is terrified of everything so of course when we were about to go through the door he wiggled out of his leash and played chase. Everyone at the front came out and were sitting on the ground, in the parking lot, outside, in the cold to get him to come inside. They have so much patience with all my dogs and the office just has the best atmosphere. I recommend them to anyone looking for a vet office.

Hands down the best place to take your pet to. My 17 year old Siamese fell very ill suddenly & was diagnosed with 3rd stage kidney failure. We were devastated. I asked if there was anything that could be done. They had me go in the next day to give her meds & fluids. They were very patient, kind, and understanding. It was touch & go but because of their quick action & loving care our kitty is still with us. Their vet tech, Morgan, went above and beyond in so many ways. She is an angel! Words cannot express how grateful we are to Family Pet Hospital!

I have been going here close to 16yrs with as many as 5 dogs in that time. Each visit was easy, calm and informative. Definitely a great place to take your fur babies!
