Second Best Coffee

It's 7 am and hot Blueberry Lemon Scone with a glaze just came out of the oven and is resting on the counter next to the register. You pretty much have to try one.

The scone is delicious. I tend to ignore scones because I feel like they are a bit dry. This was still warm so it was moist in the center with a nice crunch on the edges. The blueberry and lemon flavors are equal and compliment each other perfect!

Pour over Mexico Cerro Azul. This one was recommended as being a bit funky. It's awesome. I feel like there is flavors of cherry and bourbon. It is smooth and lightly roasted. I highly recommend!

Decaf- this is what I drink daily and it was only available as an Americano. This is a light roast coffee with smooth flavor and great taste.

The staff is friendly and spent time talking with a local person who seemed to be down on their luck. Also plenty of room for working or gathering with friends. Overall great experience.

This little place is really nice, with a great atmosphere. They have delicious pastries and coffee. I'm not sure what other drinks they have, I was a bit focused on the coffee that day.

I've been there twice now, and both times were great. I sat there with my friend, undisturbed, and we enjoyed our drinks and chatted away. The staff was kind, which I always appreciate. They have a decent-sized seating area, and even a few chairs outside, which is where I usually prefer to sit.

Good coffee is hard to find, don't sleep on this place!

One of my favorite coffee places in the metro. I especially love their seasonal winter latte it is the perfect blend of warm spices and a hint of sweetness. The chorizo breakfast burrito is also delicious. Partner got a pour over which was also delightful.

My husband and I had quite the enjoyable experience visiting this coffee shop today. Whenever we travel, we like to seek the local flare as much as possible. On recommendation from someone at a another stop, we thought this would be the best place to grab our cup of Joe. We definitely weren't disappointed. The staff was incredibly friendly and took their time answering all of our questions. The coffee was out of this world delicious and the food was delectable. The only negative I have about this entire experience is that you're in Missouri and we live in Illinois. Good thing I like to travel!

Truly one of my favorite places in KC for *years*. It's one of the few places you can get homemade almond milk in all of KC, which is an absolute reason to drive a bit further. I do wish they had some gluten free friendly options (maybe I've missed them?), but everything else I had prior to going GF was awesome.

Great experience here and would highly recommend! I thought the coffee was delicious. The store was also very interesting and nicely decorated. I got a really good vibe from this place, wasn’t too sure since it was in a strip mall and not your usually third wave coffee tiny house or historical building but it didn’t disappoint. The staff were helpful and the service was fast.

Also a big bonus was that the restrooms were clean and there is free parking!

This place is perfect for remote workers - plenty of seating and tons of outlets. The rap music was a contrast to the usual melodic cafe tunes but proved easy enough to tune out for concentration. The vegan burrito doesn’t stand tall without the sauce but their craft coffee beverages are 1000% the draw here. I had the macaan which was unique from any other coffee place in KC.

Whenever we're traveling, we always like to find the best local coffee shop. On the recommendation of a local we headed over to second best. There's nothing second best about this place! My husband who doesn't like cold coffee even enjoyed their winter eggnog special. The only negative about this place is it's very far away from home. We will definitely be stopping back anytime we're in the area. The scones were delicious as well!

I rarely leave reviews, but I had an AWESOME experience at Second Best!! I have cut out sugar and eating healthier. Nathan, the owner shops out the BEST ingredients for his coffee drinks AND food. The vegan chorizo burrito was fabulous!! They invest more in ingredients that are higher quality and support local!! We will be back!!

I went to Second Best twice in 24 hours because the americano was that good! I add honey to mine with cinnamon powder sprinkled on top.

THE BEST COFFEE. I came in a month ago and had the best cortado I’ve ever tasted. Today I came in again and had THE BEST small iced latte ever. I work as a barista and I haven’t felt that way about a latte in a while. The people are super nice also and not at all pretentious or rude. Y’all are doing it right. Keep it up! I will be back very soon. Thank you!

Second Best Coffee is a adorable cafe with lots of seating and great music taste! They have unique flavors and seasonal drinks. I tried the Blackberry Juniper latte with oatmilk and the Twist of Thyme fizzy matcha drink. The latte was fantastic and the fizzy drink was very interesting, I sweetened it to my liking but it is a very earthy. My friend really enjoyed her nitro cold brew! The baristas were nice and delivered a drinks quickly. I believe they roast in house and make their syrups as well!

I go here pretty often because it’s near my home. The coffee is always great, and the service is unparalleled. They are always friendly and attentive. Don’t for see myself going anywhere else!

Excellent customer service and ambiance! I also really enjoyed the presentation of my espresso shot and very tasty iced dirty chai 👌

Their espresso is GOOD. It tastes a little like a waffle w/ pecans from Waffle House (this is a good thing in my book).

If there were a 6th star this spot easily earns it.

As an owner I feel it important to be HYPER critical of other coffee shops. And when I travel I make it a point to visit other shops to not only critique my own place but to learn/borrow/steal from others.

Second Best is at the top of my list of places who are absolutely on the edge of defining what's next for coffee.

I work in the same strip as second best coffee I work at brookside Animal Clinic and I come here to get coffee all the time well I wanted something different today and when the guys recommended a latte because I wanted something very energetic very sugar and very tasty with a double shot of espresso and the syrupas I believe is called blackberry juniper oh my God I'm so in love with this drink I will be there probably every day to get this same exact drink Plus that atmosphere in there is amazing it's so relaxing and just to be someone to get away spot y'all are amazing over there!!

Great little place for coffee, with some unique and very tasty coffee drinks. Really enjoy their burritos for lunch. The pastries are also good and not overly sweet. Has always been a relaxing atmosphere when I've visited.

I come here weekly for a breakfast burrito before food shopping. Idk what they put in them but I crave them like im pregnant. And they wrap them all fancily it's seriously my favorite part about shopping days. And every latte I've tried there has been fantastic!

We always enjoy our time when we drop by Second Best. Coffee and food are top notch 👌 nice atmosphere for hanging out / being on your computer as well
