Great location to grab a quick breakfast en route to the Metro, serving a selection of coffees, teas, smoothies, juices, pastries, and plated foods (the breakfast platter looked enticing). For a small shop in a row of small shops, Amen stands out; you can see and feel the care put into it. The staff was helpful, offering suggestions to tailor my order.

For whatever it’s worth, they do not serve decaf.

A cozy little cafe that offers the perfect respite from the cold outside. The owner is incredibly kind and friendly, and the food is delicious! Wish I got to try more of the traditional Ethiopian selections on the menu, but all the more reason to go back ☺

Mimi runs an authentic bistro that is comforting and pleasant at every turn. I highly recommend her lentil samosa, the coffee, or one of her fresh smoothies/juices. If you want to support a Black-owned business in the neighborhood Amen Cafe is a must!

I'm so grateful to have this lovely cafe so close to where I live, even though I would definitely make a mission to come here. This place is so unique compared to other typical coffee shops/cafes. The coffee is delicious and can be spiced with clover or ginger. A simple but special selection of baked goods always leaves me satisfied, along with other delicious food options, such as the foul or breakfast sandwich. The owner, Mimi, knows how to add a special touch to everything she makes and is always experimenting with new foods and flavors that she will let those who stick around sample. Just tried a couple of the smoothies this past weekend and they were spectacular as well! All in all, what keeps me coming back is not the reasonable prices or the quality of the food, but the kindness of the family that runs this places and all that they do for the community. Please check this place out for yourself!

The owner, Mimi, was an absolute delight and was so hospitable. I'm biased towards Ethiopian coffee and cuisine, but this was top notch. The coffee was great -- but what made it best is that the price was the cheapest coffee I've gotten in DC. I was most impressed so many veggie options. It was delicious. Looking forward to coming back.

Great service! The atmosphere is cute and great for a coffee date or reading a book. I ordered the Green Juice, made with spinach, ginger, lemon, and mint! This place is a hidden gem.

Was just walking around this cute neighborhood hoping to find some sort of egg and cheese/coffee situation despite it being 11:30am, and this cafe was exactly what I was looking for and more! 1. Wanted to support local (especially if immigrant-owned) 2. Reasonably priced breakfast at noon, and anything else being a plus.
Not only do they have lovely coffee, the egg & cheese on everything bagel was clearly very thoughtfully cooked. I requested lettuce/onion and she asked if cooked inside the eggs was good or if I wanted it separate, with tomato, jalapeño, etc. how they like to serve it (which is basically my wildest breakfast dream come true.)
It was made with onions sautéed into the eggs, delicious minced jalapeño & tomato, cheese, served freshly hot and with a warm smile! The Ethiopian woman who rang it up and also made/served my order was so kind and warm, to top it all off.
Highly recommend stopping here if you appreciate local businesses with nuanced and thoughtful cuisine and atmosphere. I really got a sense of Ethiopian hospitality which will last in my memory. Will be back every time I come to DC.

Delicious Ethiopian lunch options, haven't tried their other lunch like sandwiches. Small place, locally owned. Friendly staff. Tibs and the veggie combo are amazing

Super friendly. Cozy and homey. Hidden gem. Really strong coffee in a good way! Delicious food, homemade oatmeal with fresh fruit and a yummy croissant egg and cheese sandwich with turkey bacon :) large portions so it’s perfect for two

Got an iced coffee here. Better flavor than the iced coffees and cold brews that I got from all the other places I tried in the area, like The Coupe on 11th street or Doubles, a little further south on Georgia Ave.

A great little cafe that serves strong coffee of all types. On Sundays the owner roasts beans with a small skillet and traditional set up.
The in house smoothies, fresh juices and tibbs should not be over looked either. My husband I visit weekly.

Great neighborhood juice, food and coffee joint. The coffee ceremony every Sunday is worth the visit. Sunny, open sitting area with view on Georgia Ave. We love Amen's menu and friendly staff.

Yerom's hospitable embrace, is a contributing factor on my prospective return to this establishment. I hope they are able to generate more revenue during this crisis. I personally count it amongst my favorite dining in Petworth. And can't forget the food! I only get the Injera, but I highly recommend it. From that alone I'd recommend other menu items. The food is very fresh and when you eat it you get the satisfying feeling your doing something right!
