Contrary Larry Park

A very nice place to come by yourself and relax or bring family and friends to have a good time! Thanks to all the Marlins for the events that led to this park. Hopefully Reverend Crazy Larry is caged now. It used to be an adventure driving down the gravel road there. He even stopped me on my way to work one day in the middle of the road demanding where I was going! He knew where I worked and what I was doing, but he had to harass me. He got worked up to the point that I felt it was time to pull out my .45. One time he called where I worked and started in about his family troubles, threatening war. The Missionary Baptists should be proud of their little Preacher. BTW, Does anybody know if his church actually had him on trial?

Great Place for a picnic, family cookout, or group get-together. A peaceful rural setting in Northeastern Webster County where you can experience the beauty of a farming community. The history about the park is intriguing: A peaceful solution to a family feud has provided a place for adults and kids to come together to play and share in fellowship. If you want to just sit, meditate, and soak up the beautiful country side, you can do that too. The stories behind each monument, statue, or structure are historical and symbolic of how to respond to bullying and provocation in a peaceful way with humor. Great little park out in the country to relax and spend quality time. There is a story behind each unique display, and each one stands as a monument to the high caliber of character and integrity of the owner. This is an example of how to appropriately respond to bullying and hatred when directed your way and turn a negative situation into a positive one. The local 'sherriff' and his little 'deputy' have a long history of setting up roadblocks and confronting random motorists with a shotgun or other weapons and demanding to know what they are doing there and where they are going. I think his name is Larry, and he is really unhinged. I would consider him a public menace and considering his actions would urge anyone who is confronted by him to take whatever measures neccessary to defend themselves. I know I would. Larry is also a preacher at a local missionary Baptist church and regularly propagates a vitriolic doctrine of hatred against gays and minorities. He may even enforce his 'laws' on these groups if he finds them. All that being said, Contrary Larry park is an amazing experience and David, the owner, is a good person.

Aug 14th, 2006 I was driving down Beach Rd. and was pulled over by this man ( Crazy Larry self appointed police) because it was after 10pm. I was surrounded by a man named Crazy Larry and his deputy and I was so scared I have never been back to this part of the country. Now I have returned and feel like it is safe to drive down Beach Road again and I saw the park and ask around about it and what it was about. I was told it was a tribute to the policeman (Crazy Larry) for his bad behavior.

Always a great time had by all.
If you don't know anyone when you stop, you will when you leave. People our enjoying a fun times.
If you haven't been make a point to come out sit enjoy the fresh air. Who knows, you just may make a few new friend.

A great place for a picnic tables and the other
things there make it unique! ! I went to a cookout there and the owner is something else,his story telling is somthing that makes you laugh. And his wife is a good cook.
I had a geary time in the Harvestore.
It has an upsairs, observatory is what I think he called it! ! He said it was so we could watch that contrary Larry gorilla guy...
Great little park out in the country

Been visting this park for the last 6 years. Tonight we found ourselves there while out riding fourwheelers and dave came by and told us the story behind it it was very interesting. And so nice of dave to take time out of his busy schedule to have a conversation with us. Very cool placeto vist

IT IS FINALLY SAFE TO DRIVE DOWN BEACH ROAD I USE TO DRIVE DOWN IT AND THERE WAS A OLD MAN EVERYONE CALLED CRAZY LARRY IN HIS CORN FIELD HIDING FROM ME WHILE HE ALWAYS HAD A GUN WITH HIM HE WAS CAUGHT BY THE HIGHWAY PATROL LUCKILY BECAUSE HE WAS PLAYING COP AND WAS PULLING PEOPLE OVER PULLING GUNS ON THEM I STILL TO THIS DAY THINK HE WAS BEHIND ALL THE EXPLOSIONS THAT WAS GOING ON IN THAT AREA HE WAS SMART ENOUGH ATLEAST TO NEVER PULL A GUN ON ME THIS GUY IS SOMETHING HE GOES AROUND SUEING EVERYONE TRYING TO GET MONEY OR SOMEONE ON HIS SIDE HE IS A SAD INDIVIDUAL I THINK THE PARK REPRESENTS THIS MAN CRAZY LARRY PERFECTLY

Nice little park out in the country built by good people. There is quite the little story behind it and you would have to talk with the owner to get the real full story. Stop by and check it out if you are in the area.

An interesting place to stop and explore. They even have an outhouse.
I found out a little back story on the place. It seems thus a son's tribute to his father.

Had a great cookout & bonfire at the park- it is set up very well for fun group gatherings!
