Foods were fantastic! I had spicy shrimp tostada and it was perfection. My husband had taco trio and he & my toddler loves it as well. Love how the restaurant doesn’t use plastic straw. Our server John is friendly and nice. Other staffs are nice and friendly as well.

Went there for lunch on a Wednesday. Were seated immediately. Great and attentive service. Fresh, spicy and tasty meals. We ordered a pizza calabatas (can’t remember the name exactly) and their trio tacos. All great, well served and fast service.

Diane and I were here back in May and we really enjoyed it so I'm back for lunch. Everything had to be served as takeout except I got a real glass for tea. Notice the umbrella pose😀. So I had the street tacos of beef, chicken and pork. I started with chips and queso which are both extra, no free chips. The chips needed to be fresher but the quest was good and thick, I just don't think that little cup was enough for $3. The tacos were stuffed but the meats were a dry. This time was just not as good as last. Maybe we'll try it again, I dont know.

Our first-time in Old Town and I asked a local business owner where we should eat. She suggested Backstreet Grill. Shrimp tacos had an amazing combination of flavors. Mom had fish tacos that had a kick while my father opted for Street Tacos. Great atmosphere and Samantha was our lovely waitress.

The Backstreet grill is friendly, the welcome at the door is respectful and your welcomed with big smiles. It is clean, the bar is cozy, it isn't large but welcoming. The staff display professionalism. I highly recommend this restaurant.

**UPDATED review: Friday evening might have just been an "off" night for them. I returned the next afternoon for lunch because I had hyped up the delicious tacos so much that some of my friends wanted to check it out. We had the same server and he was again super friendly and helpful. He recognized me from the previous night and even brought out "tastes" of their specialty margaritas. I generally hate margaritas, but these were DELICIOUS. It definitely seemed like there was fresh fruit rather than just syrups. It was much more packed this time, but they had more servers and seemed like they were better organized. My friends split duck tacos and fish tacos; they liked both, but said the fish tacos were best. I had their bbq burger that had blue cheese and pineapple, along with sweet potato waffle fries (based on our server's recommendations). It was, not surprisingly, scrumptious, and he brought out honey to put on the sweet potato fries (that seriously upped the amazing flavor). With that, I bump the 4-star review up to a 5-star review.

Came in on a Friday evening around 8 while in Albuquerque for a conference. Our server was very friendly but running around like crazy even though the place wasn't very full, perhaps because there weren't enough servers. Our drinks came out quickly, with the caveat that the bottle of wine had run out before finishing the glass. The glass was actually fuller than most restaurants give, but he stuck to his word to give a full pour and brought out an additional glass of wine about 15 minutes later. It took nearly 40 minutes for our food to arrive (10 minutes after he came by to say the food would be out in one minute), even though we had only ordered one app and one dinner. My friend had the mini chimi app with guacamole instead of meat, which they happily accommodated, and she really enjoyed them. I got the duck tacos and seasoned waffle fries, which were amazing. They were probably the best tacos I've had, although they did arrive lukewarm, at best. The mixture of meat and toppings were incredibly flavorful and plentiful.

I highly recommend this place, with the exception that the service was not the greatest. Our server was super friendly, but he seemed stretched too thin and it appeared our food had been sitting waiting to be brought out for a while. He also just ran by and dropped the check off without asking if we wanted dessert or anything else, and they started closing down and stacking chairs right next to us while we were still eating. It just felt like they were rushing us out even though they were open for another hour.

Great outdoor seating under huge old trees, a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere, a fantastic menu (the black bean soup was to die for), and attentive, friendly service. Our coffee was always topped off. Highly recommended.

I have had a lot of Fish Tacos in my life, but this was seriously the BEST Fish Taco I have ever eaten!!!!! I ordered a fish taco, a shrimp taco & the calabacitas (grilled veggies). Oh! And had a Prickly Pear Margarita, because why not??... I am visiting Albuquerque!

All of these were remarkable. There aren't a ton of places you walk away from with that in mind..... but this is definitely one of them. Sina was my bar tender - super welcoming, helpful & super pretty!! She was attentive, friendly & very knowledgeable of the menu.

This place is absolutely AMAZING! If I could , I think I would eat here all the time. I have celiac and this is the first restuarant in New Mexico that has offered me a gluten free fish and chips! May I add.... The BEST fish and chips ever! The fish isn't greasy and the batter even tho it is gluten free has the best texture! Chris is an amazing owner and his staff is great! I will vouch for this restuarant and their integrity anyday! Great restuarant! I recommend 10/10 will always go again.
*As for the ones who want this small business shut down due to the mask situation, Get over it. First of all , I can't believe you people actually think your government stands with you. Remember when we had to recite the preamble in school? Well I can tell some of you need a refresher. It starts with "We the people..." stand together. Don't let your government divide you.

We googled a good place to eat and were extremely happy with Backstreet Grill. There were so many enticing options but we could only choose 1 each. The atmosphere, friendly staff, plate presentation and food staff met all our expectations! I wish you were located in our hometown.

Good service. Got the street tacos, and the mini chimmis. Both were very nice, but I thought the chimmis were better.
We went during the Baloon Fiesta and there was a mandatory 20% tip already applied to the meal, and this was explained by the server.

It's so nice to eat on the outside deck here. Really cool ambiance with the lights and trees and views of the museum and park. Such a gorgeous part of town. We tried the calabacitas pizza that had both red and green chile and it was delicious. The margaritas here are made with some agave wine and they taste really good. I highly recommend.

Can vegans find a place to eat where most restaurants are Mexican??? That was my question. Thanks for our server Jamie she took her time to explain their options for vegan. So we had a great lunch here. Yes, vegan can enjoy euthentic Mexican food!

Had their shrimp tacos. They were really good. They put this pineapple pico de gello on it that gives it a little bit of sweetness.... Mmm mmm mmm. So good.

Good food, but not large portions. About the right size portions for a normal meal. Great chocolate cake.

Really fun local place. Nice service, good food.

I forgot to photo the food coming out but the pulled pork sandwich with pineapple blended in tasted awesome! Shame the state and google are trying to isolate and close this place.

If your in the area I would definitely recommend eating here. Some of the best street tacos I have ever had! Good burritos, good drinks, and an amazing icecream desert.
