If you like to be out in nature, then this is for you. No electricity but there is an outhouse and a well. (Not for showering or cleaning of cookwares) 3$ a night is crazy cheap! Barely get a cup of coffee for that. They will want you to go to the main office first, but ask for the sales number and keep a screenshot of your payment and you won't have to go out of your way first. Super quiet and tons of trails to explore. Nixon is 5 miles up the road. A great conveint store with good food. Enjoy!

Grabbed a one night permit at the village and backroads up to the camp site for a night of winter camping. Nice location and plenty of room! Outhouse available if needed.
One thing to remember is that the Pine Barrens is all sand. Behaves like a desert. As soon as the sun went down you can feel the heat quickly leave the ground and it gets several degrees colder there than the surrounding areas of NJ. Plus the water on the edge of the camp site provides plenty of dampness so in cold weather bring an extra layer.
But easy to access and neighboring campers said the hiking trails were fun and plenty full. Saw plenty of people in 4x4, motor bikes , and mountain bikes.

I really love this location in Wharton. It is really easy to get to from our home in Philly. Lots of trails to travel once the campsite is setup and ready.

Great campground near the Carranza Memorial. There’s a well here at the front with very clean looking water (although I still filtered it). The loud military planes can be a bit annoying. Batona Trail runs right next to it. Lots of spaces.
