The very first time to eat in this restaurant since COVID-19. Really nice experience!

Went for Thanksgiving diner, my roommate invited me to come to the dinner. And I am so glad I went. This is my first Thanksgiving in the US. Owner is so nice and caring, i felt like a family and in a part of it. Lovely people. A very happy Thanksgiving to all 🎊

In this place you really feel like you are home, but with an impeccable service, delicious food and magic atmosphere.

Matsu is finally opening up for dine-in services on April 5th, 2022 after the covid pandemic changed everything. Still the best food in the area.One of their sushi chefs is relatively new to the restaurant and has brought all kinds of creativity to what was already in an outstanding menu. Their specials, while delicious, didn't change often. Now that has all changed. Their specials are innovative and refreshing. Definitely a reason to go back more often.

If I could give 6 stars, I will. One of the freshest sushi around with great consistency. The owner, Alice, is especially nice. She makes sure her customers are happy and receives good quality food. Good integrity and honest business person. I am a sushi foodie and this is one of the best mid-range priced Japanese restaurant I’ve been to. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for good value Japanese cuisine.

Love this restuarant! The owner, Alice, is extremely kind and the food was amazing! I love the design of the restuarant, the interior looks very nice! However, because of COVID, they only offer takeout, but that's okay because the food still tastes great!

Absolutely amazing. No other sushi place compares. I highly recommend the Yukimaki for people who like spicy stuff and salmon. And the avocado tempura is a must-have. The staff is very friendly too. There are too few words in the English language that describe how amazing this place is.

When it comes to Japanese food, Matsu is the place I go. My husband love their special rolls. Mango crunch is my favorite. With everything so expensive now, Matsu has a very reasonable price.

I ate here last night. My first time. I had the baby tako appetizer. For dinner they made for me special, sake don (though it was not on the menu). I never had baby tako before but it was refreshingly flavorful! Served cold, drenched in teriyaki sauce, placed on a small bed of iceberg lettuce and finished off with a sprinkling of sesame seeds. So simple yet I enjoyed it so much!

The sake don was an artful delight, served with a healthy portion of salmon sashimi and just the right amount of seasoned rice topped with seaweed strips. It did not disappoint. The salmon was at just the right temperature and at just the right size to enjoy with a bit of rice. Each mouthful of the salmon melted like butter.

The restaurant was very clean and the staff was very pleasant, making the whole experience for me five stars.

Best Hana Gyoza around (crab cheese Rangoon)! Matsu offers wonderful bento boxes at lunch and a wide variety of other choices. Their freshly prepared food is a treat to the eyes as well as the taste buds. We enjoy sharing different dishes so we always find new favorites. We have never tried a dish we didn't like!

I returned to dine at Matsu Japanese Restaurant in Hillsdale, NJ after a few years since moving away. I found the food to be fresh and delicious as I always remembered. The owner Alice Ko is welcoming and goes beyond expectations to make her dining guests satisfied with every aspect of their experience. The sushi is the freshest and highest quality. The smaller setting is comfortable and the menu offers variety and every dish is amazing. I had the Seafood Vegetable Soup and Mexican Rolls, which are made up of spicy tuna and avocado with just the right amount of kick. Highly recommend and will go back often.
