A fabulous used bookstore (with a small new books selection as well) that's more expansive than it looks upon first entering. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we encountered perhaps too many fun finds. We will be back to check out the updated selection next time we're in the area!

Went to donate a book and got 2 in return a year ago, so I was looking forward to exchanging more books this year. The place is a book lovers' dream. There are so many books organized by the author and genre. I could spend hours in there. Next time, I'll bring a list

Can always find a great book for myself or to give as a gift! Wide variety and quantity of titles to select from. She (sorry don't know owner's name, should but, I don't) is always nice and super helpful when I don't know where to start.

Great place to find books! The inventory is constantly changing so you don't really know what's going to be there, but it's got a ton of inventory to look around! Love coming here to look for something new to read.

The collection here was fantastic! I spent almost 3 hours perusing through their inventory and could have stayed there for a lot longer. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and kind too. I definitely plan to go back.

I have known and been good friends with the owner ever since she opened the store, which was over 30 years ago. I worked for her off and on over the years. She would pay me and I would give the money right
back to her to pay for the books I bought. Not a good place to work if you love to read as much as I do. Now I’m 83 and live in a nursing home and I’m still buying my books from The Bookshelf. Always will. Love this place and love these girls.👍😘💗📚

A great small little bookstore nestled on the corner of downtown Batesville Indiana. It is stacked floor to ceiling with new and used books and it is very well laid out in alphabetical order and even by category of book. If you can't seem to find what you were looking for the people working are more than happy to help you as it seems they know where every book is on every shelf. A great find and a great addition for such a small community.

This is my absolute favorite place to get books. Amazon’s good and all, but there’s nothing like smiling, helpful faces and a good old fashion book! It’s wall to wall, and everywhere in between, books! Two stories! I can’t put it into words, it’s my favorite place and I get so excited at just the prospect of visiting! It’s a must go for any level of reading, whether you read one book a year, or one every couple of days, this is the place for you!

Peggy was absolutely amazing to find just the right books in the subject and price range for all the kids. Was a great walk to and from!

I absolutely love this bookstore. You can find nearly anything there that you're looking for, plus you stumble upon so many books you hadn't known of but want. Friendly people, fantastic prices, enormous selection, old-fashioned and warm atmosphere, plus a store card that benefits you after so many purchases. They also have a trade-in program.

The crew at The Bookshelf is amazing! Can't say enough good stuff about everyone there! They are always super helpful. If the book is in print, they will find it for you. No Amazon book ordering for me. I will use The Bookshelf as long as it's in business. I find the best stuff there!

If you are a lover of books this is a must stop. We stumbled across this amazing find purely by accident and so thankful we did. The owner spent a ton of time showing us around and finding every book my daughter was looking for. We will definitely be back when we come visit the area again!!!!

the most beautiful place i’ve ever been. the lady at the desk was very kind, and she helped me whenever i was in a tuff spot finding a certain book. it had a good selection, and the shelf’s were neatly put together.

Peggy is REALLY informative. I don't think that there's much she doesn't know in the realms of literature. I absolutely LOVE this place. I've been going there ever since I was a child.

Love love love this store! I can literally spend hours looking through the books but if you are in a hurry Chris ALWAYS knows what she has it doesn't have and knows exactly where it is! If she don't have it she can most always get it!
