They have removed the dam at the park and the ecology is returning to the natural stream flow from the 1700s. The dam and lake made a beautiful setting, but it is interesting watching the stream return to its natural state.

Grew up here, fishing, swimming, hanging out with friends, plus the historical value. It will be missed !

I always get a feeling of nostalgia when walking around the old Dam even with the city taking out most of the dam it's still great to go down there and walk around!

Been going to Ol' Mill Dam Park since I was a baby. One of my favorite places to go and think, fish, and get right with myself. Small but scenic the waterfalls and sound made by the dam is rather peaceful.

Might as well go visit it one more time while you can, before it gets torn down for the sake of "progress and safety" (the use of quotation marks is to denote sarcasm, rather than an actual statement by any particular individual). The place holds a fair amount of sentimental value for locals. Any actual historical value, aside from once being the location of a mill (200 or so years ago), is debatable.

(Photos are roughly 15 years old, and in all honesty, probably depict the type of behavior that is now causing the mill to be demolished, for the aforementioned safety reasons. My apologies.)

This is one of my favorite parks for taking the kids to play in the sand, or just to relax and enjoy the water and trains. Also great place to get driftwood for your aquarium!

A beautiful piece of Terre Haute history... wish more people would pick up the trash though, it's sad to see how little we care about our parks.

Had my engagement photos taken here and was impressed with the neatness of the grounds. Plus, it gets lively along the river bank during dusk. Was told that it has many deer trails too.

This is a small park that can be enjoyed for a little trip to the park. Don't expect hiking or even picnic tables or grills. The park is very basic and doesn't have any of those. We used to get drunk and go up on the very narrow sidewalk and wait for trains to come through over the bridge. This is dangerous and I don't recommend. Today we made a little eco system in a bottle with mud, water, and a plant. Hahaha, how times have changed.

Cute little area to visit. Not the best place to trust swimming at due to water flow danger. Seen people fish there. And a tiny kid area for them to play at. Amazing history about the place if you deeper look into it.

Beautiful! The damn is crumbling parts look kinda dangerous but it's pretty obvious where and I'd imagine people should know to take precautions so they don't get hurt it's not structurally sound where the mill used to reside. Abundance of large softshell turtles up behind the tracks.
