The food here is out of this world good. I could eat the jerk chicken wings, red beans and rice, and candied yams every day. Also highly recommend the curried chicken, the Jamaican beef patty, fried plantains, and the coconut shrimp. The Painkillers are a must!

Great flavorful food. Service was awesome. Thanks Tati for the suggestion on the Curry Shrimp. Jerk Chicken and Cat fish were fabulous too. Yummy. Plenty of food for the price. Oh and don't forget the Red Stripe

Today, I experienced Cool Runnings Restaurant & Bar! What a lovely visit! Located in Michigan City, Indiana, this restaurant is low-key, chilled, and delicious!

The food was amazing! Since moving to Southwest Michigan, I haven't had good jerk food in about 2 years. Well, that changed since visiting Cool Runnings Restaurant & Bar. The food was grilled, spicy, abundant, and so, so good! I really enjoyed the dark meat jerk chicken, cabbage, red beans and rice, and the different sauces. I also indulged in the beef patties. Very delicious meal!

The service was extremely beneficial. I received help with the menu, and the staff were very nice. The regulars appeared to know the staff, and it was good to hear people calling staff by name. Really great service.

The atmosphere had an island vibe and was really cool. I love the intentional vibe of keeping it, Jamaica. Great vibes, bar, and liveliness!

I really enjoyed the vibe of Cool Runnings Restaurant & Bar. Not to bad on pricing, and I enjoyed the overall experience. Next, I'm going for the goat!

The jerk chicken tacos are amazing. And of course the jerk chicken is phenomenal. I have been to this place a few times now and I can't wait to go back. If you love Jamaican food, this is the place for you! And don't forget to add a Jamaican sof drink! I asked for the recommendation of our waitress and she recommended the pineapple ginger. It went wonderfully with the meal!

Such a great experience...food atmosphere and service was all top notch. Plus, the owner came out to meet my husband and I! Highly recommend this place!

Walking in here brought us back to Jamaica for real. I loved all the decor. The people were so friendly and 🆒. I got the jerk chicken tacos they were good. Got a whole chicken jerk. Delicious. Some plantains the best ❤ and the grill mark on the chicken 😋 will be back with our kids

Good food, large portions. (My alcoholic drink was good as well.) Mildly spicy and very tasty curry. It smelled so good I forgot to take a pic before eating it. We'll be back! Curry chicken and shrimp tacos shown.

We enjoyed the seasoned plantains and crab rolls as an appetizer. For the main course, we ordered catfish and goat curry. Both were delicious! Our server was friendly and helpful. She recommended the preach lemonade, which turned out to be the perfect beverage for our meal.

Cool Runnings in Michigan City provided us with a delightful meal!

Their menu is chock full of SOOOOO many wonderful sounding offerings.

My wife settled on the Red Snapper filet with red beans and rice and candied yam for her sides. The snapper was good and tender, her first time, the candied yam was just that, CANDY! A wonderful blend of sweetness with cinnamon, and we're pretty sure, nutmeg. She was even impressed with the rice, and that's a feat!

I wanted to have the authentic Jamaican experience but was torn between the two options suggested by our server. What did she do? Gave me an "off menu" combination of jerk chicken (smoked perfectly) and.....

Curry.....

Goat!

Yes, Curry Goat! 🐐 a first experience for me, and it was excellent! It had red beans and rice, but I opted for the plantains, which are excellent!

They also have a selection of Jamaican soft drinks. Being a ginger nut, I had to try the Pineapple Ginger and WOW! Great pineapple sweetness and the start, followed by good ginger taste and finishes with the ginger heat! 😋

If you have an adventurous streak in you or just want a change in GOOD EATING, give em try.

What a true gem of a place! We've been here about 5 times so far. The food is phenomenal! We love sitting out in the patio area in the summer. I love the fried plantains. The service can lack at times but it's worth the wait for the food.

If there were more stars to fill I’d keep going ! Food was SO TASTY AND VERY WELL COOKED . Me and the wife stopped by and it was a great choice!

We ordered jerk chicken and reggae pasta with shrimp--both tasted amazing! Jerk chicken was charcoal grilled, got the nice flavor and was still juicy and tender. Half a small chicken, legs and wings. Waitress was very helpful as well, brought us a special mustard sauce when we told her the house jerky sauce was too spicy for us to dip in.

Pasta had jumbo shrimps in it, lots of vegetables mixed in and great flavor. Again, waitress recommended a special seasoned parmesan powder to go with it and it was really good.

Would definitely return when in the area again.

Flavorful dishes. Jerk Chicken, Candied Yams, Fried Plantains, Mac&Cheese, Yellow Curry, Red Beans and Rice. Everything was fantastic. I've never been to Jamaica, but I feel like these dishes were authentic to Jamaican culture. Experiencing different cultural cuisines never gets old. Great job. May 1, 2022.

We arrived and only one server was present, but she worked her little heart out and was very friendly to all the customers from what I observed. My party had the jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, beef patty, rice and beans, cabbage, sweet potatoes and plantains. All of it was well seasoned and quite possibly the best Jamaican food I've had from at least 4 or 5 other restaurants. Who would have thought this little hidden gem existed? Will definitely come back.

It was busy but was seated quickly. I got the jerk catfish my wife the jerk chicken. If you get the catfish be careful for bones. Pick at it with your fork to de-bone it. Pictured catfish and chicken plates.

Great food and service! It's a cool atmosphere with a relaxed not rushed feel. The food has a little spice but it's a flavorful spice. The servings was huge. I was full and only ate half ... thankfully the server brought boxes before we even had to ask. I would highly recommend this place.

I had their food truck years ago and never forgot how good it was. Nothing fancy here, just absolutely delicious jerk chicken. Interior is okay. Service was good. My drink was awesome. The chicken is the star of the show, and it's worth coming to get.

The Jerk Chicken dinner is the Best. I ordered the all white meat. Cool Runnings version of Jerk Sauce has so many layers of flavor with just the right amount of heat. Ask for BBQ Sauce on the side also!

The rice and beans were so good I had to ask for a separate small portion to take home along with my leftover Jerk Chicken ! The portions of dinners are more than enough! You WILL have leftovers. 😋

The decor is very island, music would have been nice especially reggae or something similar to set the mood. Though space is limited the tropical drinks (most of which have rum) would go great with a hot summers day on the open air covered patio! Or at the spacious bar.

Particularly, I ordered the "Blue Mother F"er " it's the perfect version of a tropical long island ice tea (NO sweet and sour 😁👌) which paired perfectly with thier Jerk Sauce!!!

The cinnamon fried plantain that comes with the meal gave a nice sweetness to the meal and the bread slice allowed to clean the palate for more flavors to be experienced.

I look forward to returning to this unique culinary experience tucked away in MC"s NE corner of town. Afterwards you can walk off you meal a quarter a mile away at Blue Chip Casino or at the beach if Lake Michigan that has a Zoo and a park with Marina. ENJOY!!! 🍗🇯🇲🥤

My husband and I like to try little "hole in the wall" places. Cool Runnings is at the top of our list now and we will definitely go back to this place! Friendly waitress and delicious food! I imagine this food is as close to authentic Jamaican as Indiana can get! Hats off to the cooks here!

Omg! I was so excited to try this place out after coming from one of the beaches nearby.

+ I was not disappointed, the vibe was so tropical and the food was so tasty and delicious. I had fish with Mac and cheese, rice and a slice of bread. (Big portions so don’t order a lot)
