The Original Root Beer Stand

This is our go to spot when. We don't do taco Tuesdays, because you can get coney dogs for around a buck at The Original Root Beer Stand! We enjoy the ice cream 🍦. It is so creamy and delicious. Occasionally we will get a burger and onion rings while sitting out over the lake. Great view. Love Culver, my hometown!

The food is great and you have a great view of the lake on the hilltop. The service is very helpful. They are always waiting to lend a helping hand when needed to make your visit the best it can be.

Great food and good prices! The wait was very minimal and we were served quickly. New favorite summer spot. Root beer was very very good!!!

Great root beer floats. Nice parking area and great service. Didn't take long to get our floats and they were busy.

Cannot understand why I didn't stop here sooner. Passed this place so many times. Had a sundae and was not disappointed. Portion was big and they use real whipped cream. Tomorrow is the end of their season. Will definitely go back next year to try more!

I love coming here. It is a tradition of sorts since they are only open during the warm summer months. They make their own Root Beer here and so the root beer floats are one of a kind. I highly recommend you get at least that when you go there.

They have very limited parking, but there is a great view of the lake from the picnic tables or front. Truly a must do if you are passing through or coming to check out the local offerings.

Went there a month ago on a drive after eating in a restaurant, to get desert. Had the Twix blizzard, was awesome. Best value over the DQ loaded with Twix. I live 50miles away can't wait to get back. 68 years old and appreciate the way the car hop accommodated us. Was a blast from the past. No complaints from us.

Still has car hops and old-fashioned burgers, tenderloin sandwiches, ice cold root beer, and a lot more! What I ate was good, and it felt like I was in my teens again! This place rocks! I wait all year for a Big Guy run through the garden and that chicken sandwich is the bomb! Not to mention all the sweet treats are delish! Down with the haters - keep up the good work!

A summer favorite for the entire county, this place is packed most of the summer but the service keeps things moving along. Although parking is hard to find at times, it’s no issue for our family to drive a few blocks down and walk next to the lake up to the stand and enjoy a beautiful view as our food is being prepared.

Wow, friendly service and very affordable food. We came here for a quick bite during a short visit at the Culver Academy. Very friendly forks took our order.

My husband and I drive from Indy to Culver once a year. We stop at Culver Academy, walk the grounds and then head to The Original Root Beer Stand for lunch. Love this place. Food is always good!

Great food, great atmosphere, everyone is a hard worker. A little slow, but that’s because it was a holiday weekend and everyone and their mother came! With such great food, no wonder!

We do road trips to Root Beer Stands all over the country. Tasted Root Beer from California to New Jersey so far. This place is SO SPECIAL !
Root Beer that is sweet, full bodied, and has a very slight spicy-ness. It rolls on the tongue so nice, leaves no after taste, AND stands up to ice very well.
THIS IS GOOD STUFF!!

The Staff is GREAT!!! The afternoon we were there, Town of Culver had some problem that made all the businesses close. But the nice folks at The Original Root Beer Stand made sure we could taste there wonderful Root Beer and SPECIAL Ice Cream Sandwiches!! It was well worth our drive from Rockford, Illinois to visit this Old Time Stand with REAL hospitality !

My favorite are the Coney dogs add cheese & onion with an order of their amazing onion rings a lg Root Beer no ice and a LG pineapple shake to go!
Can NVR go wrong when choosing to eat here.
The staff is Always very friendly and speedy service!
