Cafe Max Eatery & Tap

A visit to Culver would not be complete without a meal at Cafe Max. The environment is nostalgic and interesting, and i always find something new on the walls that i had not noticed before. The service is friendly and fast, even when the restaurant is packed with people. The food is delicious, consistent and delightfully unhealthy. It is always a pleasure to come back to Cafe Max.

To get a feel for the town and community of Culver, AND get great food, you won't do better than Café Max. Our favorites include: the Blue Bayou Skillet, Sinful French Toast, and the sublime seasonal Pumpkin Pancakes. The Bloody Marys are also a highlight. Fun, funky local decor/memorabilia and excellent service round out the experience.

Without a question the place to be for breakfast in Culver. Other meals are good for breakfast as where it shines. The only downside I’ve experienced is that they can get overwhelmed and thus slow.

We had a party of 7 and they were very accommodating. They offered boosters for the 4 & 5 year old, but they were able to reach the table just fine. They were given coloring sheets and crayons.
I had a veggie omelet, the kids had grilled cheese and pancakes, my husband had Sinful French Toast, one had the country sampler, one ordered the Eggs Benedict, and one ordered the club sandwich. Everything was cooked to perfection, they remembered no cheese in my omelet. The staff was super friendly. Everyone really liked the Home Baked Wheat Bread. And my niece exclaimed: It was so good I ate it all! (She ate her grilled cheese and started on her sister’s pancakes.)

Susie and her friendly and dedicated staff always provide a yummy and great experience. It's my family's favorite breakfast destination. A must for regulars and visitors alike.

Excellent food and service. But most importantly, I walked in after closing and wanted pie to go. I was not aware that they were closed. Instead of just saying they were closed, Chloe cut two pieces of pie for me. She did not have to do that. Most places would not do that. I appreciated that a lot!!!

Very nice place with a lot of history! The food was delicious and the price was good. Get the donuts as an appetizer!! They come out fresh and covered in cinnamon-sugar! Lots of neat decor regarding Culver’s history plus TVs to watch sports! Would highly recommend!

It's like how Cracker Barrel used to be, but better. The prices are so affordable, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating in addition to their bar. Love it!

We had a party of 10 and everyone enjoyed their breakfast. Service was great, our coffee and soda cups were always full. The kids loved their chocolate milk. We can't wait to go back.

The food is excellent! The smoothies are delicious! The in-house-made raisin toast is great!

Went for breakfast with a party of 10 was seated quickly although it wasn't busy. Everybody ordered something different and had no complaints, eggs, bacon even the hashbrowns had that nice crusty outer layer cooked perfectly to order, cinnamon rolls are an absolute try before you die, high recommend!!

This place should be on a Food Network show. If you love a "home cooking" kind of menu, you should try this establishment at least once. I had the Philly Omelet and loved it. The French toast is great too. Both dishes will melt in your mouth.
The staff could give a clinic on how to take care of a guest. From start to finish, the wait time is almost nil. Someone is checking on you all the time, but not too much. They walk the line well, balancing the middle -- enough attention to make you feel that the staff cares about your comfort, not so much that the service is annoying.
Culver itself is a beautiful town, bustling in the summer; sleepy in the winter. It's a perfect setting for this gem of a restaurant.

Cafe Max is full of history and great service. In this day and age it’s hard to find great employees that take pride in their jobs and appreciate customers like they do. If you want to eat at a true Cafe not a run of the mill fast food restaurant Cafe Max is your eatery.

Awesome food, great service, and atmosphere! I absolutely love the pancakes, toast, and biscuits. I would love to come here every week, but I can't. The service is friendly, gods is good, it's clean, and in shape. One thing I don't like is every time I walk in the store and waiting to be seated there is a bump right by the chairs so watch out!

I love coming here it feels like home. The breakfast is the best, I can never decide on one thing, my husband and I have to order extras and share! I love the unique menu items and the traditional staples too! It's the best breakfast in town, and well worth the wait when it's busy.

Love Cafe Max, but had the rudest, most unfriendly waitress I think I've ever experienced. We felt like a complete inconvenience and burden to her.

Their tenderloin sandwiches are delicious. I went there with my folks and husband when we were home visiting. The atmosphere is quaint and if you like Culver memorabilia, it's a cool place to sit and take in all the decor.
