Bugombe Gateway Camp

Great place on Lake Bunyonyi, highly recommended. Everything was really good and at a fair price, and the staff were amazing - Wilson the owner is a great host and was very kind to us when we were there. We didn't have a chance to thank him after he drove us to the bus in Kibale, so I'll take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU Wilson, wishing you good fortunes!

Very pleasant place and a good base for excursions around Lake Bunyonyi. The staff are super attentive and polite and go out of their way to accommodate their guests' needs. Good food also. The beautiful wooden rooms with big balconies and ensuite bathrooms are well worth their money. The only downside is that you won't get breathtaking views of the lake here. The compound only shares a 50m stretch of lake shore and most of it except a small landing platform is overgrown. Also, some hammocks/comfy seating arrangements for hanging out in the beautiful garden would be nice.

Nice view of the lake even from your room and a calm place with many birds around.

The landscape is beautiful. The view of the lake is captivating The beds might need glass windows for cold nights though. The nets alone are not enough. But the structures are well suited for the locale. None of that aggressive concrete ish.

Beautiful lake side location, raw experience, they got tents, rooms and empty camp sites to setup your own camp too. It's not too expensive also. And I prefer to cook my own food, as their food is on the lower side.

Bugombe Island Gateway is a lakeside resort. Bugombe Island is the picturesque camping site where we gazed at the stars through the dense canopy of the pine trees and the ink-black darkness of night. Both are beautiful and pristine, the Gateway and the Island are, and not yet fully discovered by the hordes of visitors to the nearby world-famous gorilla trails of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and beyond. There is enough room to hang a thousand hammocks, play badminton, go canoeing, and cook your own meal for US$ 20.00 a night. There is a nice traditional restaurant and bar, and comfortable cottages too.

Great restaurant and get away. Service was slow at the restaurant and prices were high by local standards. But it was beautiful and relaxing and there was a fun rope swing
