Zen Boutique Resort

We stayed at the Zen Boutique Resort over New Year. As all the reviews were very positive, we had very high expectations. But they were all exceeded!
The whole resort is incredibly beautiful and designed with a lot of love. The owners and staff are very friendly and courteous. A special thank you to the chefs for the incredibly tasty, varied and fresh food.
The New Years party and the sunset yoga session were certainly a highlight.
As you can see from the reviews, it's not right by the sea and you have to walk a few minutes, but that's no problem at all. We enjoyed the daily walk to the sea.
We really enjoyed our few days in paradise and would go back to the Zen Boutique Resort without hesitation.

It was the details for me. There are maybe more photogenic places but the comfort was so well thought out. For example, the pool has ledges to sit and have drinks on, beds that go out over the water, and a shallow end so you can sit or even lay in the water. The outside shower, the balcony for sunset, the play area for drawing, it was all just designed around comfort. I would definitely stay here again. The location isn't on the beach but that wasn't important for me as it's surrounded by nature. The food was also great! Thanks - I'll be back. :)

First ⭐ goes to this magnificent place, the owners Tye and Sarah have done a magnificent job with this place, I was privy to seeing this place from the beginning. Until it's completion. I have been eager to stay here from the beginning.

What they have done with the landscape is exceptional, if you're looking for the perfect place to relax after the Serengeti Safari has beaten you down here is where you want to put your feet up.

Second ⭐ 2 types of rooms one regular one deluxe, both are great in my opinion all facing the pool with new beds and air-conditioning or fans, your choice of comfort. The outdoor lounge area and heavy fauna around the rooms, offering tropical surroundings.

Third ⭐ great staff, very friendly and plenty of them. To tend to your needs. As the place is very spacious. You will not feel like your on top of each other.
They didn't offer alternative dairy solutions, so if you don't do dairy tell them so they can tend to your diatary needs ahead of time.

They have two bars, one at the pool side, the other in the bar lounge area. They have a Yoga studio, great restaurant, with the most amazing spring rolls that melt in your mouth.
They have the only sunset look out in the east coast as the sun rises there, 3 stories of chillout space.
The owner is also an accomplished DJ, they have a great party area, away from the accommodation so they can have fun with out disturbing the guests.

Fourth ⭐ they have great security with high walls, so they are very safe, they also have plenty of security guards on site, not that Zanzibar is dangerous but you can never be too careful it feels good knowing if you forget your phone on the table it will be there when you come back.
They will also organize transport if needed to town.

Fifth ⭐ the pool, is an amazing, beautifully lit at night, which is good because it's about a 10 min drive to the closest beach that's only there half of the time because of the very large tides, so why pay the high prices to be on the beach if its not always there.
The pool has a shallow walk in, surrounded by sun needs that hang over the pool, palm trees, with a great fire Pitt with seating area sunk in. Just a place to chill and talk with other guests or friends. Playing chill out music creating the perfect atmosphere.

It's 20 min drive to the heart of Paje, for shopping and the beach but that's fine for me you won't be hearing all the night clubs that pump music until 4 am.

Just spent 2 wonderful chilled out weeks over Christmas and New year at Zen Boutique. Arriving from a stressful journey to being greeted by smiling faces and cocktails at Zen all our anxieties instantly melted away. The layout of the resort with its lush gardens around the most beautiful pool are really inviting and calming. The rooms didn't disappoint with their soothing color palette and the air con was most welcome in the hot temperatures. Favorite part was the outdoor bathroom. The shower so often in resorts like this are hit and miss with pressure and warmth but no such concerns here with consistency of power and heat when required throughout, the best bit was being under a starlit sky and listening to the sounds of nature.
EVERY single member of staff were always polite, smiling, accommodating and fun creating a real family atmosphere. In the searing heat of the day there was plenty of shady spots whether in the sala with library, games and entertainment or the tower with plenty of seating and a lovely cooling breeze whilst taking in the views, the highlight here being the spectacular sunsets, which were often enhanced by DJ "Ty on the beat" playing chilled vibes with guests drinking a wide variety of cocktails. Food prepared and cooked by Abdul and his team was second to none. My our heart felt thanks to them for making a big number birthday very special and surprising me with my favorite dessert that they had never made before, being one of the best I have ever had. New years eve gala BBQ and party was one to be remembered as guests and staff danced in the new year together.
The grace and serenity of general manager Sarah not only filters through to the staff with such ease, all guests are made to feel included and special by her effortless ability to make sure you are enjoying your time at Zen.
After our regular 10 minute rustic walks to the beach returning to Zen had the feeling of home from home. The owners Ty and Sarah have created a little piece of Zen magic to chill and relax with a continuing vision to expand this oasis which has enticed us to go back again in the near future.

Zen Boutique Resort is situated in Jambiani but located well away from the hustle and bustle of the town.
It is an absolute paradise! The gardens are stunning and the scent of frangipani is everywhere.
The pool is a beautiful spot to lounge around with plentiful beds.
All the facilities are first class and the rooms, with the villas inside/outside bathrooms, are a great touch.
Every little detail has been provided which makes this hotel a real winner.
I will definitely be returning 😎

Where to start! This was our last stop on a 2 week Zanzibar tour and we could not have asked for a better ending! Awesome music from Ty and just such a nice vibe to relax! Cocktail creations are on point and the food is delicious! Drink prices are the best we had on the island and Sarah and the team just made us feel so at home and welcome! A must visit when in Jambiani!

I have to start by saying a big thank you to the owners' Ty and Sarah. You guys are truly amazing people and I take my hat off to you for what you have achieved with your resort.

Although I wasn't staying at Zen I spent countless hours in their Burnt Orange bar and restaurant. The staff were all friendly, the drinks were cold and reasonably priced and the food was delicious and fresh. To top it off it has a stunning viewing platform to watch the sunset.

Both the staff and the owners couldn't do enough for me and really made it feel like a home away from home. I would recommend Zen to everyone. It is a perfect oasis of relaxation on Zanzibar's East Coast.

The staff at Zen Boutique made our stay one to remember. They gave us some great local suggestions.
We recommend renting a scooter from reception so you can explore more.
Abdul and his kitchen staff know how to cook, we had some of our best meals at the hotel restaurant.
Sarah and Ty have done an amazing job with the place they should be very proud.

Can’t wait to come back and we recommend to all our friends.

One small recommendation: put a shower blade in the bathrooms. If you have a late night shower it doesn’t dry up over night which means when you go to the bathroom it’s a slip hazard (found that out the hard way) with a shower blade guests can get the water down the drain before heading to bed.

Very beautiful place made by beautiful people! Sarah and Ty are so nice and thoughtful! The food are great and so are the cocktails, my favorite is the hibiscus heaven, make sure you get one when you are there! The place really embody the name "Zen". Beautiful flowers, great pool and lovely sun beds, all the setup is made for relaxation. Highlight is the Weds. evening's sunset live DJ sesh by Ty :) thank you guys for auch a lovely experience!

Normally I don’t bother to write a review good or bad, but for this place I feel 5 stars isn’t enough. The great service started when we where in holland. They asked us if they could pick us up from the airport (we had rented a car so it was not necessary, but the intention was there) arrived at the resort we were welcomed with a delicious cooling drink, our bags were taken to our rooms and we got a tour from Louise the manager. (super sweet woman). The resort looked beautiful (even nicer than in the pictures which you don't often experience) everything clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Lounge bar, yoga corner, restaurant, beautiful swimming pool. In our villa we received personal welcome letter which was very thoughtful. The room was also super clean and tidy. Lovely bathroom. All the water to drink at the resort is complimentary. The staff is also super friendly, nothing is too much to ask. We stayed at the resort for a week in total and it was a wonderful experience. The only slight downside is that it's so laid back to stay here that you don't want to go out and see the rest of the island, but yes if that's all.

*Update:

The plan was to stay the first week in zen boutique resort and then move to another location. We visited a couple of other resorts ( high priced resort in nungwi) but it doesn’t compare to zen boutique so we stayed also the second week here. We rather travel from here to all the tours/places and come back to zen boutique than move to another resort. So in total we stayed 2 weeks here and it was memorable. I want to give a special thank to MJ for his big smile en amazing Service a really lovey guy. Special thanks to otmani amazing guy. To the security guard who welcomes us Always with a great smile ( I think here name is jurriete ) great thanks for the chef the food was amazing his personality even beter. Really a great thanks for all the staff for making our holiday unforgettable.

I live near by and it's an amazing place to spend the day. The sunset bar is the only place to come for a good view of the sunset on this part of the island. The staff are great and the pool is fantastic. The food at the restaurant is super fresh and tasty. 5 stars doesn't do it justice.

We stayed at Zen Boutique Resort for the first 3 nights of our holiday and it was the perfect place to get totally relaxed. Everything was beautiful and super clean and every staff member was so friendly and helpful. It’s a little paradise on an island that’s already a paradise itself. You definetely won’t regret staying here.

Excellent clean bungalows with all the amenities you need. The common area by the pool is astonishingly beautiful. The resort exceeded all our expectations. But what's best about the resort is the staff. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. Really friendly and service minded people. They change the place from excellent to absolutely great. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet time without worries. Hakuna Matata.

Cozy room around large pool and private with beautiful lushy garden around. The foods and drinks are very delicious. Amazing sunset lounge. Perfect get away place .

Beautiful place to relax with family. Sumptuous meals and very friendly and welcoming staff and owner.

Zen boutique resort is an amazing boutique hotel located 6km South of paje. The staff are excellent, especially their welcome for any new comer is extraordinary. The only problem is their Google map showed opposite direction. I hope the management can work out on this and if they need my help I'm available to help them locate properly on the map

Beautiful place, really amazing environment.
People are so nice and polite.
Restaurant is expensive... portions are not so big for price what you are paying (according to prices on other places there).
