New Teddy's on the Beach

Absolutely awesome!! Best hostel we've ever stayed at for sure; beautiful setting, great food, cold beer and friendly staff. Special mention to Selina, Rachel & Noru who all go the extra mile. Staff will arrange scooter rentals, day trips, everything you need and if you have any problems they sort them straight away. Beware of falling coconuts!

Loveliest place ever!! Was only 2 days ago that I checked out, and am already missing the vibe of the place and the people. I had a bike injury on my last day and the staff was extremely supportive and made sure I was being take care of :) can’t wait to come back!

I can't say enough good things about this place! Perfectly situated and beautifully decorated. The staff are all incredibly friendly and attentive. The food is excellent, the best we've ever tasted on Zanzibar.
A special thank you to Selina for the warm welcome, kindness, and hospitality, and to Millie for the fantastic massage and gorgeous braids. Big thank you to the entire staff. We can't wait to come back!

Just spent an amazing week at this wonderful place. Absolutely loved the laid back vibe and the choice of places to chill out and enjoy the gorgeous views.
So many people are clearly working hard to make this a special place to stay; from housekeeping to security guards, kitchen staff to bar staff. Special mention and thanks to Adam for being permanently cheerful and greeting the children by name every day, and to Ras Coco - what a kind and talented soul! We loved the live music on NYE and the effort the staff at New Teddy's went to to create such a gorgeous, atmospheric setting for the NYE barbecue buffet.
We last came to Jambiani 20 years ago but certainly won't be leaving it another 20 years!

This place is Truly Amazing. We were a group of 18 people, and everyone felt so happy and well taken care of. The staff were so nice, the food was so good and the place is beautiful with the beach so close by. Really recommend!

This is one of the best options if you want to stay on a budget around Paje or Jambiani. A 10-minute ride further from Paje, the hostel is right on the beach. Dorm rooms are pretty basic with no AC, and there's sand on the floor. You will be provided with designated lockers. However, the entire hostel property is filled with hammocks, swings, and cool chilling spots. There's a small swimming pool, and the food at the restaurant is superb. The steak I had there is one of the best I've ever eaten. I also love their Konyagi Passion Fruit cocktail. The staff were very friendly and helped me book a snorkeling trip and transfer back to Stone Town. It was Easter when I visited, and they had cool Easter eggs on the property that you could collect and redeem for gifts.

Really nice beach hostel with a restaurant on site with tasty food. I ordered the veggie burguer (it is worth to come to this restaurant if you are around just for it) and the eggplant curry. Also ordered the homemade hibiscus soda.
You can still swim on the beach at low tide on the beach or just use the swimmingpool. If you like to meet other travellers this is the perfect spot due to its dorms where people from all over the world meet and the common areas where you’ll be able to chill around. They do also offer private rooms. The ever smiling staff was also very helpful. Kudos for your great job!

Amazing hostel, top 5 I have stayed in, in the world. staff is very friendly. They clean your room/bed daily (which I’ve never had at a hostel before) the only thing is the sand floors in the hostel rooms, sand gets everywhere, but hey you’re at the beach! Pool is super nice and they have great spots to lay out for the day all over the property. Solo traveling here met a few people, but best if you want a quite few days, if you want party head down the beach to paje.

Place is so amazing just because its a mix of travelers/backpackers/nomads in the dorms and families in the small houses/huts/apartments.

This place should have 4.97 rating “only“ because “theres always some things to improve”
Breakfast is great even though it can be modified a bit because if people stay for longer they might find it boring after some time.
Getting there first time might be a small challenge because of infrastructure but locals are so friendly that they’ll literally walk you to the place if you manage to end up roaming in the village cos Google Maps shows you weird walking paths 😂
I don’t know how the rooms/apartments/bungalows are, but a little cooling in the dorm rooms where the bunkbeds should be considered.
I think i had one of the best main dishes on the island there on my day of arrival and i wont even tell you which one it was because they have a reliable recommendation system “chefs daily suggestions”
Whatever you might have on mind dont hesitate go ask the manager or any of the staff.

I can keep on typing until the day after tomorrow but i dont want to spoil it anymore

PS. Dont hesitate to sleep on the open air under the palms on them beach-beds (just bring a towel and some cover with previously applied mosquito repellent)😉

When we arrived the first day at New Teddy's on the Beach, planning to travel through all Zanzibar, a guest told us "you will be back here, because this is the best place on the island". It was so.

I could have not wished for a better accommodation in Zanzibar. It is just perfect! In an amazing setting right by the beach with the most attentive staff ever.

Best address to relax in Zanzibar. Very friendly and competent staff. It's close enough to Paje to go partying in the evening and far away enough to be perfect for a relaxing holiday.

We loved the location directly at the seaside as well as the relaxed atmosphere with a mix of couples, families and backpackers.

Food was fine, service came always with a smile, but was rather slow (but, it’s Africa, so no issues with that).

Rooms were also fine, but not as nicely decorated with local interior architectural elements as our first hotel on Zanzibar.

The only litte downside was the music. We had days with 3 times the same playlist by Michael Jackson and Nora Jones. Just one single day African music was played (by Daniel Mtukudzi).

spent the day here to swim (water is perfectly close during high tide), relax and eat. their food is very delicious and prices are reasonable. lovely facility, beds at the shore line. minimum consumption is 20k. can recommend

Came for breakfast once and a drink at night while I was staying near by. Both were great. Very chilled place with a nice atmosphere at night. Shout out to Enoch one of the waiters who is on the ball and good at his job. Very professional and honest.

What a fantastic place is New Teddys on the beach! We went there at the end of our honeymoon, and it was a perfect place to relax after a long week of safari. They even put us in a better room because our tour operator booked us in a (also good, but not ideal for a honeymoon) relatively simpler spot.

Again, we loved it here. For starters, the staff is extremely friendly which is infectious! Moreover, you can easily spend a few days without leaving the site, enjoying the pool, the bright sand, the chillspots, the great food and the bar.

Additionally, New Teddy’s can help you to book activities throughout the island and great prices and with reliable operators. We especially enjoyed the following:
- Diving, arranged with Buccaneer on-site, out by the reef
- Yoga right by the waves from the Indian Ocean breaking, for which Lara comes to New Teddy’s four times a week
- A great massage from Millie (also on-site)
- A taxi ride to Stone Town so that we got to explore Zanzibar’s history

Would highly highly recommend New Teddy’s for anyone: both for a hostel vibe, but also for a family or honeymoon if you take one of the more luxury rooms.

I really liked the place I just walked in during the day.They have an amazing view of the beach,yummy food and a cool pool for kids.

New Teddy's on the beach is the perfect place for chill, food and swimming . The beach is just stunning and this is one of few stretches where you can swim at low tide. And no sea urchins! The place is filled with local quirky cool details and food is just great. If you like to meet other travellers this is the perfect spot due to its two dorms where people from all over the world meet. The ever smiling staff is very helpful. I love this place and highly recommend it.

There are actually no words, posts, reviews, pictures, comments.. which can describe what you really feel when you enter „New Teddy‘s on the beach“ for the first time.
The warm, soft sand under your feet, the softest breeeze from the cristal clear ocean, the noises of Africa.. it is like a little oasis you never want to leave.
Guests from all over the world, backbackers, families, couples.. mixing and mingling at the lovely pool, at the cool bar and the restaurant area is truly inspiring.
The always smiling management and staff, doing their best to make each and everyone happy, hammocks under palmtrees, swings and daybeds overviewing the ocean, lovely details and decoration everywhere… it is such an individual place which you can enjoy with all your senses..like zipping your fresh, yummie smoothie everyday at a new spot.
The beach there is also fantastic. You can swim and snorkel in turquoise waters ( no rocks!) or go for long beach walks at low tide.
We are absolute foodlovers, too and after trying some other restaurants.. we always came back to Teddy‘s.. a must try is the octopus curry! Some evenings we enjoyed great live music- thank you Rascoco!-and a fab BBQ.
Four times a week you can do yoga -with the wonderful Lara-at a special spot, overviewing the ocean. There are massages offered by Milli-just magic hands..
We stayed with our two kids at one of the bungalows and loved it. Some also offer an AC.
And if you really want to leave this little paradise- of course it is a must to explore the little gem of africa- we recommend to book the tours offered by Moyo adventures. Salum and his team showed us the real heart and soul of this fascinating african island.
We just had a truly magical time… thank you Leonie and team, we will be back..

I loved to stay here and enjoy the good food & drinks for 1 week.
The Staff is outstanding!!! And the location is so relaxed and calm.
