Master Xuan Zang Memorial Hall

If you're traveling via boat, you'll need to alight at xuanguan pier. Head up to try a super salty Ah Po herbal eggs, meant to be really famous but I found it too salty to my liking. There will only be one temple named xuanguang temple. If you wish to see xuanzang temple, you'll need to hike 850M, by following the pavement. Beware, is Roller coaster pavement. The trail is call qing long trail

Nice temple overlooking sun moon lake. There are benches on the temple grounds where you can sit and look at the lake.

On southern side of the lake good stop to take panoramic photos. There's few stores selling souvenirs food and drinks. There's toilet as well.

Beautiful temple with possibility to drink local grown tea. Very nice view over the Sun Moon Lake.

A awesome place to visit..can see the whole lake and its nice trail to this temple...one can go through this trail of 850m from the first stop at the lake or come by car as well.

A temple devoted to Xuanzang at Sun Moon lake. Had an enlightenment experience. It houses a very important relic.

Stunning temple located in the mountains & steamy jungle. The multi tiered architecture is very impressive and the steep slippery temple trail up the rock face is challenging & beautiful.
The Buddhist chants & chirping of birds creates a surreal atmosphere especially during the twilight hours.

It was worth the hike for us -- to get to sit and just relax under the shadow of Lady GuanYin!

A place for hiking with friends and family. Good breeze to catch in between walks and rests. Challenge yourself by reaching the tip of the tower. End of the walk up will be the bell to ring...something to be proud of, shout out.

This temple is beautiful and seems to be very important for Taiwanese people because it hosts the head relics of Master Xuan Zang, a Buddhist monk from 7th century who for what I understood, is the leading translator of sutras in Chinese.

This and the fact that it offers you a very beautiful point of view of the lake makes it unmissable if you go around the Sun Moon Lake.

I strongly advise you to get up there by the trail starting from Xuangang Temple Pier. The landscape is absolutely gorgeous, you'll hear all the fauna around and the area is renowned for its butterflies which are absolutely gorgeous. Watch your step and beware of the possible snakes though even if it can be rather crowded, I've seen one around.

This traditional buddhist temple is great with beautiful architecture and serene gardens. The view of sun and moon lake from the temple is absolutely stunning. The temple house the relic of legendary buddhist master Xuanzang.

A great temple to visit, although not as big as the wenwu temple but the view here is much better, offering amazing views around the lake
