Rainbow Wave Surfing Instructor Studio

Rainbow Wave is definitely one of the best choices for accommodation in town. My friends and me had a 10D9N trip for diving, and here is indeed a satisfying place for us.

The building is located around the main bus station, so it’s super convenient for backpackers to reach. Inside the building, it’s pretty spacious and as a group of six, we were comfortably staying at the same room along with full diving gears.

We are grateful to the roof because we can wash and hang our gears after the dives. It is an essential need for divers, but not many places are capable of satisfying this demand.

The two extra highlights would be their breakfast and pet. I personally think their food is worthy of a Michelin star; it’s simple, tasty and healthy. The pet dog is quite a trap (for people to step on it accidentally), but everybody still loves her so much.

We love Rainbow Wave and the people here. It’s friendly, clean and economical, giving us the memory of a lifetime.

Spacious hostel with lovely breakfast, comfortable beds, decent WiFi and plenty of eateries nearby.

They also offered us a surf coach for 1500 NT$ per person for 2 hours, it was very nice!
Breakfast included and they prepare it for vegetarians extra :)

I spent 2 nights and I had a great experience. The place is very cool and clean. Good location. The staff very helpful. They make the breakfast, everyday different and it's very delicious. It's an extra (little) money but i think it's worth it :)

I loved my time at Rainbow Wave! They have amazing staff who are always willing to hangout at the hostel and help! I stayed here 30 days bc I’m stuck in Taiwan from the USA. The owner is such a cool guy- and a great surf coach! I can’t wait to come back when I visit Taiwan again. Thanks for everything, Rainbow Wave!

I witnessed highly abusive living conditions of 2 dogs being kept next to a street food counter right across from Rainbow Wave Surfing Hostel:
- Dog 1 was highly obese (could hardly move his body!), captured all life long on metal chain
- Dog 2 was kept in a rusty metal cage just as large as himself , never taken out, had to defecate into the cage but was provided with water. Both dogs were only waiting for their death right at the noisy and stinky main road. I took pictures and showed them to the Rainbow Wave Hostel staff who confirmed that he never saw the animals off the chain or outside the cage. He promised to tell his friend - a dog lover - to try to rescue the animals or talk to the owner of these 2 dogs. That´s why I gave 5 stars. Apart from that, I experienced Hengchun as a highly animal abusive place and want to encourage tourists to open their eyes and speak out for the animals (e.g. parrots kept in cages as decorative elements during night markets, stray dogs with their ears cut-off...)!
Incredible to know Taiwan produces highly developed IT hardware – but when it comes to simple ethical behavior towards animals, the South is far away from a 1st world status in the 21st century.

Such a lovely hostel all in all. Staff are really helpful, homemade breakfast, very nice decor with a terrace. Definitely value for money

Nice atmosphere, very hospitable staff and nice facilities, very much in line with the area you are visiting. Very limited privacy in the rooms though, but I don't mind in a hostel!

Amazing place in Kenting with easy access to the beaches and Kenting old street. The staff is super friendly and ppl are always having fun in the outside area. Very easy place to make friends with the guests and the staff.
